The day that the sky was burning

It was a deep night when the sun went into the ground, but inside of the Haedong Secret esoteric buddhism, where outside was covered with fog, it was bright as day because many monks who were holding torchlight and lined up. In front of where the monks lined up, there was a big hall with door wide open. Inside the hall, there was a strangely decorated, beautiful altar. In front of it there was a calf, tied by its legs. Behind the altar there was five people who look so different that they looked unsuitable for the temple. There was an old man who’s hair was very white, a middle-aged lady with white clothes, a monk who looked like a person from another country, a middle-aged, half-hairless man who had curved back, and a young man who was wearing very old clothes. Their eyes were somehow filled with nervousness and sadness.

A middle-aged man with a colourful surplice came in with low spread Buddhist’s scriptures. All the monks and even the five people at the altar bowed at him kindly. The man who just came seemed to be the religion’s leader.

The ceremony started right after his appearance. During many kinds reading of Buddhist’s scriptures and strange ceremony in progress, the five people at the back of the altar’s faces didn’t look good at all. After a while, two monks came out with shaking legs, dragged the tied calf and put it on the altar. The two monks were very hesitant but when religion’s leader’s eyes stared at them sharply, they grabbed a knife reluctantly. The religion’s leader’s face looked gentle, but there was a blue spark of energy flashing through his eyes.

One monk closed his eyes and started to cut the calf’s neck. When the calf’s short scream sounded, the whole area of the hall, monks who were lining up, trembled with terror. Some were ignoring it by closing their eyes. Two monks, who had blooded all over their bodes, tried to put the calf’s head, which was still moving a bit onto the altar, but they were not doing it properly, it might have been because their hands were trembling.

The man who seemed to be religion’s leader’s eyes and lips were crumpled. He stepped towards the altar briskly and shouted loudly at two monks.
“You two! Do you think you can do ceremony to God Ssiba with weak mind like that?”
He pushed the terrified two monks and grabbed the calf’s head, which still had blood coming out. Then he tore off the calf’s head with unbelievable strength while speaking Sanskrit.

One monk, who was at the back holding torchlight, started to kneel down and vomited. Five people who were watching the whole situation quietly behind the altar, their eyes were flickering too. But religion’s leader looked normal as he was holding one hand on calf’s neck, his other hand started to move downwards and break all other parts of the calf’s body. Then the sound of the breaking bones, came out continuously and from the neck which was cut already, the fresh blood came out and flooded all over the altar. The religions’s leader was raising his hand with blood all over and speaking spell words. Then he shouted out so loudly that normal people could lose their hearing.
“It’s useless! God Ssiba wants bigger risk! We discontinue our ceremony!”
The monks bowed their heads and knelt down after hearing that the ceremony had finished. The religion’s leader started to swear at the monks that something seemed to be wrong. Suddenly, the back curved man with half-hairless head was standing behind the altar, he shouted, that he couldn’t take much more.
“Leader Suh! We just did the forbidden ceremony of blood, what are you going to do now ad how? Now please no more ceremony of blood and killing…”
“Shut up! Defender Jang!”
The religion’s leader called Leader Suh’s face crumpled scarily. Near his body, the real cold wind blew out.
“We can’t have power without sacrifice! God Ssiba is the god who has true great power! And we can serve him only with sacrifice of lives or souls!”
Defender Jang shouted with thinking that he’s not going to lose.
“Sacrifice for whom? What in the world, in the holy hall which has been in existence for a very long time…”
Defender Jang couldn’t continue his speech because the old man who had white hair and looked like an enlightened Buddhist grabbed his shoulder quietly.

Defender Jang turned around and went outside with angry face, Leader Suh was breathing heavily. Then he looked around with his blue eyes which seemed to be thirsty for blood. There were still two monks trembling because they couldn’t still get out of terror when they cut the calf’s neck. When Leader Suh’s eye stared at them, they seemed to be possessed by something, standing up with wide-opened eyes.
“You two! Follow me! You have work to do with me. And others all tidy here and disperse!”
Leader Suh’s eyes seemed to be burning. The people behind the altar started to tidy up by commanding the other trembling monks. Inside the hall it was full of smell of blood. How much time had passed?

Everyone seemed to be sleeping with nightmares. Inside the temple was so quiet that there wasn’t any sound even sound of a mouse moving around. But from the many caves which were in the mountain which covered with fog. In one cave, which had a door locked, there was a painful scream coming out weakly. It was very quiet, but Defender jang, who’s been listening through the door by attaching his ear to the wall, could know what sound actually it was. Defender Jang was trembling, his face turned blue. The long and painful voice disappeared by a familiar man’s fast spoken spell words. The insufficient ceremony which happened a little time ago was happening again by changing the risk. The two monks who followed Leader Suh won’t ever be meeting again.

Defender Jang trembled with fury, crumpling his face which now turned to white. Defender Jang tried to rush into the cave. It seemed that he couldn’t take it any more. Suddenly someone grabbed his shoulder quietly. Defender Jang looked behind quickly and started to mumble with surprise.
“T,the highest defender!”

The person who stopped Defender Jang was the old, enlightened Buddhist. He went into the forest, taking Defender Jang with him. The old enlightened Buddhist checked that there was nobody else here, then started to talk to Defender Jang.
“Don’t be rash and make thoughtless action. Do you think you can beat Leader Suh with your strength only?”
Defender Jang knelt down and grabbed the old Buddhist’s clothes with sobbing.
“Highest defender…How did this happen? Suh, how Suh became like that…my friend who was full of justice and intelligence…”
“Maybe he stuck on power too much…Cheer up. Didn’t he use to study with you under same teacher?”
“H,how did Suh became like that…”
Defender Jang couldn’t continue his speech because of his feelings.
“people’s minds cannot be known. There could be more desire and deeper temptations as training goes deeper.”
The old Buddhist stopped speaking, shaking his head, then he helped Defender Jang to stand up.
“We have no choice. Think about our duties. We’re from different clans, anyway aren’t we, in the place of defender who must protect the Haedong secret religion.”
“Then now what should we do…”
“I have work that you need to do.”
Defender jang raised his face. His eyes were as if it had been decided already. His eyes were burning, but old Buddhist kept speaking.
“We need help from others who have strong power but who Leader Suh doesn’t know.”
“Help of people from outside…”
I heard one person before. There’s a Catholic priest who’s been doing miracles around already. The Catholic priest who’s been excommunicated…”

Hyun-Am felt strange. While traveling in the bus, strange power was kept coming out. And the power was not one, it was coming from two places.
Hyun-Am closed his eyes and concentrated his mind, but it was useless. The weak clairvoyant power he earned when he was younger and learning Kigong to heal his illnesses, was gone completely. Only promotion was left. Hyun-Am leaned his head back and regretted.
‘How did I become like this…’
He thought his life before was uncertain. The continuous things that nobody will never believe…
‘Hyun-Ah…’
Hyun-Am’s only sister Hyun-Ah wasn’t with Hyun-Am any more. It was already 6 years ago. Hyun-Ah who has been killed by supernatural entity…
Hyun-Am closed his mouth. Tears were flooding on Hyun-Am’s cheeks, drop by drop.
‘Please forgive me, Hyun-Ah…’
When Hyun-Am became almost insane he decided to revenge for his sister who met tragic death, but nowadays in the world he couldn’t meet people who believes in existence of spirits and help him. They just responded that it’s sad.

After that day he started training by stealing book of “Taegeukkigong” which’s been existed in secret. But his whole body paralyzed by learning Kigong wrong.That tine the manb who came to Hyun-Am almost loke a miracle called Hanbin the hermit who lived in mountain. He saved Hyun-Am who's been very close to death and taught him some legendary kigong moves called Pasashingum, Sajahu, Budongshimgyul. But he was paralyzed after he left... that time another life saver appeared, Buddhist Doh-Hae gave all his power which's been made for seventy years to Hyun-Am...

Hyun-Am was remembering his past.Suddenly he woke up. Because people started to pack up things, it seemed to be that the bus almost arrived at destination. He started to feel strange power again. He turned around and started to look people who's been sitting behind him. Most of them were normal tourists but two people who were behind them came into sight. Two different powers were coming from the two people. One was tall and big, looks like fifty years old, half-white and half-black haired man who was wearing glasses. And another looked almost same age, but his back seemed to be curved, sitting, his eyes were sharp and his hair was half-gone. Their appearance was not special, but Hyun-Am was sensing strange supernatural energy.

Hyun-Am faced forward. After learning from hermit Hanbin and Buddhist Doh-Hae from last year until now, Hyun-Am had been everywhere to cure his twisted blood vessel. And now he was going to find the Haedong esoteric buddhism which's been in existance, but in secret, for a long time.

Not like esoteric Buddhism in china and Japan, after they appeared at period of Gaya Kingdom right from India, it existed in secret so it could be existed until now. Haedong esoteric Buddhism which was existed before normal Buddhism came to Three Kingdoms, it made its special system of religion so it could exist until now, but its inside story was a total secret. The reason that Hyun-Am could know about existence of Haedong esoteric Buddhism was the speech that he heard from Buddhist Doh-Hae incidentally. From the speech of Buddhist Doh-Hae, Haedong esoteric Buddhism is much more able to show miracles and supernatural power than esoteric buddhisms which’s still existed in India and Tibet. So somehow by help of Haedong esoteric Buddhism that he could cure his twisted blood vessels and he could use incredible power properly, Buddhist Doh-Hae was saying that in hope.

Bus went into the terminal. Hyun-Am looked back again. Two people were not saying anything. They didn’t seem to realize that Hyun-Am’s been looking at them several times. It was possible, because his blood vessels were twisted so normal big Jachun and small Jachun was going in separate way which was not ordinary, also even his upper Danjeon was crumpled that he couldn’t do any supernatural ability, which even ordinary people can do. So it was absolutely possible that people who have supernatural power couldn’t recognize kigong powers which is hidden in Hyun-Am’s body before they see him carefully. Hyun-Am thought that they are just people who he met incidentally. Then he got off the bus without thinking about them
Two people who got off from the bus were going on same way. Their face looked vely calm. The big man opened his mouth first.
“It’s horrible. The esoteric buddhism’s leader’s been so violent that he’s not in hesitation about even sacrifice of human life for power…”
Half-hairless, curved back man answered. His eyes looked at though they were red and burning.
“Now we decided to do final choice. Beating the leader, taking his power away and expelling him from the religion.”
“But isn’t it the business inside the religion? I’m not belong to esoteric Buddhism.”
But I heard that Father Park uses your power for people, no matter of whatever the religion it is.”
“All defenders might have power like me. Including you, Defender Jang, indeed.”
The man called Defender Jang answered.
“But the leader’s power is almost invincible. He’s ignoring the essence of esoteric buddhism which is helping people, summoning the power of evil of old Baramun religion and he’s getting almost full control of it. We cannot stand a chance against him in situation like that. Because Leader knows our power very well. So we need power from other people who have completely different power.”
“But religions’s leader is also a human. Is there any way we can make im forgive himself, same as past?”
“How good would that be if it could happen? But he’s already intoxicated by evil power itself. He denies everything except power, doing ceremony to the forbidden god Ssiba and Asura, even he’s denying the essence of compassion which is the body of the esoteric religion itself. Also he’s trying to make big move to get more influence. Ultimately he’s trying to make world not for human, world for evil spirits which’s been controlled by power of gods.”
“Is that possible?”
I if we don’t stop him, not right now, but it could be possible later. But the problem is leader’s targeting time is now. If the world which ignores value of life and soul, combined with leader’s ability, his idealogy will increase incredibly bigger.”
“Hmm……”
Big man called Father Park thought for a moment and spoke again.
“Leader of esoteric Buddhism might have had intensive training, I don’t understand how he became like that.”
“I can’t understand either. He used to learn with me under same teacher at the past. He had very strong power and ha deep compassion, but he changed after he voted to be leader of the religion.”
“Is that he could be controlled by some kind of evil power?”
“It’s hard to imagine that he could be controlled by evil spirit or evil god who has that much strong supernatural power. I thing the reason is himself. He had so strongly, excessively attached his concentration of power. Then I think he became like that.”
Defender Jand turned his face sadly stopping his speech for a moment, and opened his mouth again.
“Anyway please help us. All of five defender of haedong esoteric buddhism’s decision is now equalled.”
Two people walked slowly with speaking to each other. The direction where they were going was same direction as where Hyun-Am was going before them.

line 7, on the first paragraph, who's should not be used as possesive form. It should be whose. In 2nd paragraph, religion's leader.. that soulds little awkward..try temple's leader.
