 Level 13 :  Yuse(有歲,유세), Yugu(有久,유구)... Item No. 300.   

[뜻2] 有久(유구)......오래됨.

 [Meaning 2]  Yugu(有久,유구)... Being enduring / Lasting for long.   

有久(유구)는 惡(악)을 제거하고 善(선)을 이룩하는 햇수가 충분히 오래됨이다.

  Yugu(有久,유구) means that the duration of time spent removing evil and achieving

  goodness(善,선) has lasted sufficiently long.

인간의 본바탕이 惡(악)하여 사람을 다치게 하고,
마음이 惡(악)하여 사람을 함정에 몰아넣고 욕심이 惡(악)하여 사람에게 잔인하니

  when human basic nature is evil, it hurts others; when the mind is evil,

  it drives people irto traps; and when desire is evil, it acts cruelly toward others.

능히 이 세 가지 惡(악)을 제거하고 善(선)을 이룩하여
또 그 햇수가 오래됨을 이루어서 예전의 시작으로 되돌아가지 않으면
어릴 때부터 쌓은 착함과 같이 이루기는 어려워도 가히 그 福(복)을 받을 수 있게 된다.

  Therefore, if one successfully eliminates these three forms of evil, achieve goodness,

   and maintains it over a long period of time without returning to past beginnings,

   even if it is difficult to equal the goodness accumulated since childhood,

   one still becomes worthy of receiving blessings.

 [Original Text, 원문] Source(出,출) : Cham-Jeon-gye-Gyeong(참전계경), 

                              Gae-Cheon-Gyeong(개천경), Bae-Dal-Jeon-Seo(배달전서).

有久者는 去惡就善이 足有歲久也라 (유구자는 거악취선이 족유세구야라)

  Yugu(Being Enduring / Lasting for Long) refers to discarding evil and pursuing 

   goodness over a duration of time that is ssufficiently long.

性惡傷人하며 心惡陷人하고 欲惡殘人이니 (성악상인하며 심악함인하고 욕악잔인이니)

  If one′s basic nature is evil, it harms others; if the mind is evil,

  it entraps others ; and if desire is evil, it acts cruelly toward otheers.

能去三惡而就善하며 就又有歲久하니 (능거삼악이취선하며 취우유세구하니)

  If one can eliminate these three evils, pursue goodness,

  and maintain that pyrsuit over a long period of time,

不回舊頭하여 難于稚時善이나 可領其福이니라. (불회구두하여  남우치시선이나 가령기복이니라.)

  without turning back to old ways, even if it is difficult to equal the goodness cultivated

  in childhood, one still becomes worthy of receiving blessings.

 [Explanation,풀이]

인간에게 三惡(삼악)이 있어 그 본바탕이 惡(악)하여 사람을 해치고(性惡,성악),
마음이 惡(악)하여 사람을 함정에 빠뜨리고(心惡,심악),
욕심이 惡(악)하여 사람에게 잔인하다(慾惡,욕악)고 했다.

  It was stated that human possess Three Evils(三惡,삼악) : an evil basic nature that harms

  people(性惡,성악 -- Seong-ak), an evil mind that entraps people(心惡,심악 - Sim-ak),

  and evil desires that make one cruel toward people(慾惡,욕악 - Yog-ak).

사실 세상을 살아가며 누구나 한번쯤은 스스로 三惡(삼악)을 저지른 경험이 있을 것이되
인간의 원래의 모습이 아니니 三惡(삼악)을 저지르고도 즐거운 사람은 없을 것이다.

  In truth, as people live through the world,

  anyone may have experienced committing these Three Evils at least once;

  however, since this is not human′s true original nature,

  no one who commits the Three Evils remains joyful.

그러나 三惡(삼악)을 저지르는 것이 거듭되면 결국 살아있는 惡鬼(악귀)가 되는 것이니
속히 본 모습을 회복하면 역시 하늘에서 福(복)을 받는다 했다. 
  Yet, if committing the Three Evils is repeated, one ultimately becomes

   a living evil demon(惡鬼,악귀).

  Thus, if one swiftly restores their original nature, it is said that they will surely receive

   blessings(福,복) from Heaven.
