1976년 스티비 원더의 18번째 스튜디오 앨범 Songs in the Key of Life의 5번째 트랙으로 수록되었다. 

재즈 피아니스트 듀크 엘링턴의 사망을 추모하기 위한 헌정곡이다.

제목은 듀크 엘링턴만을 다루고 있지만 가사를 보면 흑인 음악의 선구자들 전반에 대한 헌정곡이다. 

카운트 베이시, 엘라 피츠제럴드, 루이 암스트롱, 글렌 밀러 등이 언급된다. 

고인에 대한 헌정곡임에도 엄숙하거나 슬프지 않고 경쾌한 브라스가 주가 되어 대중적으로 사랑받았다. 

빌보드 핫 100에서 1위에 오르기도 했고 지금까지도 스티비 원더의 히트곡 중 하나로 평가받는다.
