Commentary on John 15 (4)
Then let’s look at verse 10.
“If you keep my commandments, you shall abide in my love, even as I have kept my Father’s commandments, and abide in his love.”
Was there a document of commandments like the Ten Commandments between the Father and the Lord, like the Bible.
The commandments are a word that summarizes God’s will, and the Lord thoroughly kept his commandments.
So the commandments are to love God and love your neighbors.
It is not something that can be kept literally.
Therefore, we should not think of the commandment as a law unconditionally, but rather as the entire will of God.
The commandment is the will of God that it must be so.
Therefore, the Lord always says that the Father and I are one, that the Father works in me, that I do the will of the Father who sent me, and that my words are not my words but the Father’s words.
This is the commandment between the Father and the Lord, and although it is not a legal document, it is a rule between the two.
So the new commandment is that it is God's will that we become like that commandment through Jesus Christ working in us.
God's will is that the message to love one another is not a new commandment, but that if we keep the new commandment, we will love one another.
This is the meaning of the word to keep the commandment.
Therefore, the result that God saw as good is first a joy to God, and then that joy is transmitted to us and becomes joy.
For example, when a child makes his parents happy, he himself is happy at that moment.
So, the result of fellowship (koinonia) with God through the Lord Jesus Christ is the fruit, and this fruit acts as a member of the body and becomes the salt and light of the world.
It is glory to God.
But is the life of those who believe in Jesus Christ outside and hear His voice really from the earth? Is it from heaven?
Glory is different depending on life.
Christians think of glory as loving with human life, so it is worthless.
Only by loving with the life of God that we have in Christ can we truly become the love of agape.
Through this, God is glorified and rejoices, and we also receive unspeakable joy.
The result of keeping the Lord’s commandments is the word in John 15:11.
“These things have I spoken unto you, that my joy might remain in you, and that your joy might be full.”
This state means that the organization has become completely the same.
This means that the Lord, the vine, and I, the branches, have become one in the Spirit of truth.
That is why I can confess and testify that the Lord’s joy has become my joy.
It is a blessing that the result of keeping the commandments that the Lord told me to do has been revealed to me.
It is a joy that the effect has been revealed to me.
I hope that everyone can enjoy this blessing.
When we bear fruit, the joy of the Lord’s word being fulfilled in me is sure to follow.
That blessing is truly wonderful.
When the entire organization of the tree and the branches conforms to his standard, that is, abide in my word and abide in my love.
So, these words will only be fulfilled when the Spirit of truth comes to make us know that we are in Christ and that we are one bread, one body, and one spirit with Christ.
Therefore, John 15:1-11 is about the relationship between the vine and the branches, that is, the Lord and me.
It is the word to abide in the Lord’s love.
If we conform to the Lord’s organization in the Lord, if the Lord is love, I also become a person of love.
Can a person who loves be unhappy?
Can a person who abides in the Lord’s love be angry and slander others?
If the Lord becomes light in me, I also become light, if the Lord is power, I also become power, and if the Lord is love, I also become a person of love.
We have to create this state.
If the Lord is a textbook of love that reveals His love by becoming one with the Father, then we become a reference book of love that embraces and reveals the textbook of love.
But people are so bad at this.
Therefore, we must pray to become like this.
Only then can we live, love, tolerate, and serve others with compassion.
If we try to serve others right away without learning this process, method, and principle, we will become Chunhyang by force.
Chunhyang is imprisoned because she loves Lee Do-ryeong.
She is not imprisoned because she expects something in return from Lee Do-ryeong, who became a secret royal inspector.
She did not meet Lee Do-ryeong, marry him, and try to become successful.
Chunhyang is imprisoned because she loves Lee Mongryong. She loved Lee Mongryong until her death, and that is why she was able to overcome all the humiliation and hardship.
Love is stronger than the sword, stronger than death, and there is no sin in love.
Therefore, if you love others in Christ, there is no reason to feel sorry for anyone.
When we deny ourselves for a long time, take up our cross, and follow the Lord through the life He provides in Christ, and finally become one with Him in organization, we will confess that we love the Lord, regardless of whether anyone acknowledges us or not.
This is the true offering of love to the Lord who saved us and made us in Him.
