<p style="text-align: left;">Summary:<br><br>Paul instructs the believers not to accept everything uncritically. Instead, they are to carefully examine and test all things in order to discern what is true and pleasing to God. After testing, they are to hold firmly to what is good and worthy. At the same time, they must reject and keep away from every form of evil. The passage presents a life of spiritual discernment in which believers thoughtfully eval‎uate what they encounter, embrace what is good, and deliberately turn away from anything that is evil.았<br><br><b>Teaching</b>:<br>The command to “give thanks in everything” means giving thanks for all that God has done. Because of this, we must carefully discern and eval‎uate the things that happen in our lives.<br><br>To discern rightly means setting aside ourselves - emptying ourselves, humbling ourselves, and seeking God's will rather than our own. God's will is always good.<br><br>We may not always understand His purposes at the moment, but with time they become evident. Therefore, we should honestly acknowledge the fruit that is revealed in our lives, and when we recognize that we have made wrong choices, we should repent.<br><br>What is good is something we must actively seek. And to “hold fast” to what is good means to grasp it firmly and never let it go.
