Summary:
When the Lord Jesus comes, He will be glorified among His holy people and marveled at among all who have believed, including the Thessalonians who accepted the testimony given to them. With this purpose in view, Paul and his companions continually pray that God will consider the believers worthy of their calling and powerfully fulfill every desire for goodness and every work produced by faith. The intended result is that the name of the Lord Jesus will be glorified in them and they in Him, according to the grace of God and the Lord Jesus Christ.
Teaching:
God brings every work of faith to completion through His power. Even when we possess faith, it is God who empowers and fulfills the work that arises from it.
The same is true of the work of the church. God is the One who accomplishes it, and He entrusts that work to His holy people who walk in a manner worthy of their calling.
Therefore, work takes on a different meaning for those who believe. The grace by which every good purpose and work of faith is fulfilled comes from our God and the Lord Jesus Christ.
