Because the fall of man was brought about by human beings, restoration and indemnity has to be done by people, too. It is the Principle that those who commit crimes have to indemnify their crimes by themselves.
In order to subjugate Satan and repent for your present situations, you cannot be forgiven by just asking, "Heavenly Father, I committed such and such. So, please forgive me."
You must shed tears in order to return to God. When you repent your sins, you have to feel the pain of your face swollen from crying or experience excruciating pain as if your entire internal organs turn upside down. This is what we must face as realistic challenges. You have to shed tears in repentance for your sins.
