너희가 애굽에서 나오는 길에 아말렉이 네게 행한 일을 기억하라

[스아랴]

                                       너희가 애굽에서 나오는 길에 아말렉이 네게 행한 일을 기억하라

                                                                          (신25:1~19)

신25:1   사람과 사람 사이에 시비가 생겨서 재판을 청하거든 재판장은 그들을 재판하여 의인은 의롭다 하고 악인은 정죄할 것이며

Deu25:1   If there be a controversy between men, and they come unto judgment, that the judges may judge them; then they shall justify the righteous, and condemn the wicked.

신25:2   악인에게 태형이 합당하거든 재판장은 그를 엎드리게 하고 그 죄의 경중대로 여수히 자기 앞에서 때리게 하라

Deu25:2   And it shall be, if the wicked man be worthy to be beaten, that the judge shall cause him to lie down, and to be beaten before his face, according to his fault, by a certain number.

신25:3   사십까지는 때리려니와 그것을 넘기지는 못할찌니 만일 그것을 넘겨 과다히 때리면 네가 네 형제로 천히 여김을 받게 할까 하노라

Deu25:3   Forty stripes he may give him, and not exceed: lest, if he should exceed, and beat him above these with many stripes, then thy brother should seem vile unto thee.

신25:4   곡식 떠는 소의 입에 망을 씌우지 말찌니라

Deu25:4   Thou shalt not muzzle the ox when he treadeth out the corn.

신25:5   형제가 동거하는데 그 중 하나가 죽고 아들이 없거든 그 죽은 자의 아내는 나가서 타인에게 시집가지 말 것이요 그 남편의 형제가 그에게로 들어가서 그를 취하여 아내를 삼아 그의 남편의 형제 된 의무를 그에게 다 행할 것이요

Deu25:5   If brethren dwell together, and one of them die, and have no child, the wife of the dead shall not marry without unto a stranger: her

신25:6   그 여인의 낳은 첫 아들로 그 죽은 형제의 후사를 잇게 하여 그 이름을 이스라엘 중에서 끊어지지 않게 할 것이니라

Deu25:6   And it shall be, that the firstborn which she beareth shall succeed in the name of his brother which is dead, that his name be not put out of Israel.

신25:7   그러나 그 사람이 만일 그 형제의 아내 취하기를 즐겨하지 아니하거든 그 형제의 아내는 그 성문 장로들에게로 나아가서 말하기를 내 남편의 형제가 그 형제의 이름을 이스라엘 중에 잇기를 싫어하여 남편의 형제된 의무를 내게 행치 아니하나이다 할 것이요

Deu25:7   And if the man like not to take his brother's wife, then let his brother's wife go up to the gate unto the elders, and say, My husband's brother refuseth to raise up unto his brother a name in Israel, he will not perform the duty of my husband's brother.

신25:8   그 성읍 장로들은 그를 불러다가 이를 것이며 그가 이미 정한 뜻대로 말하기를 내가 그 여자 취하기를 즐겨 아니하노라 하거든

Deu25:8   Then the elders of his city shall call him, and speak unto him: and if he stand to it, and say, I like not to take her;

신25:9   그 형제의 아내가 장로들 앞에서 그에게 나아가서 그의 발에서 신을 벗기고 그 얼굴에 침을 뱉으며 이르기를 그 형제의 집 세우기를 즐겨 아니하는 자에게는 이같이 할 것이라 할 것이며

Deu25:9   Then shall his brother's wife come unto him in the presence of the elders, and loose his shoe from off his foot, and spit in his face, and shall answer and say, So shall it be done unto that man that will not build up his brother's house.

신25:10   이스라엘 중에서 그의 이름을 신 벗기운 자의 집이라 칭할 것이니라

Deu25:10   And his name shall be called in Israel, The house of him that hath his shoe loosed.

신25:11   두 사람이 서로 싸울 때에 한 사람의 아내가 그 남편을 그 치는 자의 손에서 구하려 하여 가까이 가서 손을 벌려 그 사람의 음낭을 잡거든

Deu25:11   When men strive together one with another, and the wife of the one draweth near for to deliver her husband out of the hand of him that smiteth him, and putteth forth her hand, and taketh him by the secrets:

신25:12   너는 그 여인의 손을 찍어 버릴 것이고 네 눈이 그를 불쌍히 보지 말찌니라

Deu25:12   Then thou shalt cut off her hand, thine eye shall not pity her.

신25:13   너는 주머니에 같지 않은 저울추 곧 큰 것과 작은 것을 넣지 말 것이며

Deu25:13   Thou shalt not have in thy bag divers weights, a great and a small.

신25:14   네 집에 같지 않은 되 곧 큰 것과 작은 것을 두지 말 것이요

Deu25:14   Thou shalt not have in thein house divers measures, a great and a small.

신25:15   오직 십분 공정한 저울추를 두며 십분 공정한 되를 둘 것이라 그리하면 네 하나님 여호와께서 네게 주시는 땅에서 네 날이 장구하리라

Deu25:15   But thou shalt have a perfect and just weight, a pertect and just measure shalt thou have: that thy days may be lengthened in the land which the LORD thy God giveth thee.

신25:16   무릇 이같이 하는자, 무릇 부정당히 행하는 자는 네 하나님 여호와께 가증하니라

Deu25:16   For all that do such things, and all that do unrighteously, are an abomination unto the LORD thy God.

신25:17   너희가 애굽에서 나오는 길에 아말렉이 네게 행한 일을 기억하라

Deu25:17   Remember what Amalek did unto thee by the way, when ye were come forth out of Egypt;

신25:18   곧 그들이 하나님을 두려워하지 아니하고 너를 길에서 만나 너의 피곤함을 타서 네 뒤에 떨어진 약한 자들을 쳤느니라

Deu25:18   How he met thee by the way, and smote the hindmost of thee, even all that were feeble behind thee, when thou wast faint and weary; and he feared not God. 

신25:19   그러므로 네 하나님 여호와께서 네게 주어 기업으로 얻게 하시는 땅에서 네 하나님 여호와께서 너로 사면에 있는 모든 대적을 벗어나게 하시고 네게 안식을 주실 때에 너는 아말렉의 이름을 천하에서 도말할찌니라 너는 잊지 말찌니라

Deu25:19   Therefore it shall be, when the LORD thy God hath given thee rest from all thine enemise round about, in the land which the LORD thy God giveth thee for an inheritance to possess it, that thou shalt blot out the remembrance of Amalek from under heaven; thou shalt not forget it. 

   저는 가끔 TV 시청을 통해 동물의 왕국을 보게 되었습니다. 그 세계는 너무나 양육강식으로 치열한 생존을 하며 살아가는 모습을 보게 되는 데 그중 한 힘센 동물이 한 작은 동물을 추격하며 계속하여 끈질기게 쫓는 것을 보게 됩니다.

   I sometimes watch The Animal Kingdom on TV. That world shows how survival follows the law of the jungle. Among the scenes, I can see a strong animal chasing a smaller one persistently, never giving up.

   그 속에서 위협을 당하는 동물이 어떻게 해서든 살아남으려 갖은 몸부림을 치며 많은 애를 써보지만 결코 쉽지 않은 계속된 추격과 공격은 어려운 상황이 계속 되어지는 것을 볼 수 있습니다.

   In that world, you can see an animal under threat struggling desperately to survive, putting in all its effort, yet facing relentless pursuit and attacks, remaining in a constant state of danger.

   한 굶주린 짐승은 그래도 자신의 배를 채운 뒤에는 평온을 갖기도 하지만 한 사람의 잘못된 삶에 가치관을 가지고 있는 자는 자신의 배를 위해서도 아닌 나쁜 악한 일들을 자신만 하게 하는 것이 아닌 마치 전염병을 옮김과 같이 죄를 조성하여 죄의 탑을 짓고자 하는 것을 보게 됩니다.

   A starving beast, even after filling its stomach, may find peace, but a person with a wrong set of life values does not act even for their own stomach; instead, they commit evil deeds not just for themselves, and, like spreading a contagious disease, build a towering pile of sin.

   하지만 하나님께서 우리를 사랑하시는 일은 계속되어지는 것을 보게 됩니다. 그 추격을 통하여 배울 수 있는 것은 누구도 따를 수 없는 하나님의 기묘하심과 모사와 하나님의 지혜를 이길 수 없음을 배우게 됩니다. 또한 우리의 상황을 통해서 애굽으로 나가려고 했던 모든 발걸음을 하나님께로 돌이켜 생명을 얻게 하시는 지혜임을 알게 하십니다.

   But we can see that God's love for us never ceases. Through the relentless pursuit we observe, we learn of God's marvelous wisdom and counsel- something no one can match. Moreover, through the circumstances of our lives, we come to understand that even every step we take trying to go toward Egypt can, when turned back to God, become a path to life through His divine wisdom.

   그러하기에 우리가 약해져있거나 깨어있지 못하여 틈을 주지 않도록 주님의 도우심을 언제나 구하기를 원하시는 주님의 마음을 깨달아 하나님의 말씀과 사랑을 구하시는 저와 여러분이 되기를 기도합니다.

   Therefore, recognizing the heart of the Lord, who desires that we always seek His help so that we do not give way when we are weak or unwatchful, I pray that you and I may continually seek God's Word and His love.
