여호와의 구원은 사람의 많고 적음에 달리지 아니하였느니라

[스아랴]

                               여호와의 구원은 사람의 많고 적음에 달리지 아니하였느니라

                                                             (삼상14:1~30)

삼상14:1   하루는 사울의 아들 요나단이 자기 병기를 든 소년에게 이르되 우리가 건너편 블레셋 사람의 부대에게로 건너가자 하고 그 아비에게는 고하지 아니하였더라

1Sa14:1   Now it came to pass upon a day, that Jonathan the son of Saul said unto the young man that bare his armour, Come, and let us go over to the Philistines' gattison, that is on the other side, But he told not his father.

삼상14:2   사울이 기브아 변경 미그론에 있는 석류나무 아래 머물렀고 함께한 백성은 육백명 가량이며

1Sa14:2   And Saul trarried in the uttermost part of Gibeah under a pomegranate tree which is in Migron: and the people that were with him were about six hundred men;

삼상14:3   아히야는 에봇을 입고 거기 있었으니 그는 이가봇의 형제 아히둡의 아들이요 비느하스의 손자요 실로에서 여호와의 제사장이 되었던 엘리의 증손이었더라 백성은 간 줄을 알지 못하니라

1Sa14:3   And Ahiah, the son of Ahitub, Ichabod's brother, the son of Phinehas, the son of Eli, the LORD'S priest in Shiloh wearing an ephod. And the people knew not that Jonathan was gone.

삼상14:4   요나단이 블레셋 사람의 부대에게로 건너가려 하는 어귀 사이 이편에도 험한 바위가 있고 저편에도 험한 바위가 있는데 하나의 이름은 보세스요 하나의 이름은 세네라

1Sa14:4   And between the passages, by which Jonathan sought to go over unto the Philistines' garrison, there was a sharp rock on the one side, and a sharp rock on the other side: and the name of the one was Bozez, and the name of the other Seneh.

삼상14:5   한 바위는 북에서 믹마스 앞에 일어섰고 하나는 남에서 게바 앞에 일어섰더라

1Sa14:5   The forefront of the one was situate northward over against Michmash, and the other southward over against Gibeah.

삼상14:6   요나단이 자기 병기 든 소년에게 이르되 우리가 이 할례 없는 자들의 부대에게로 건너가자 여호와께서 우리를 위하여 일하실까 하노라 여호와의 구원은 사람의 많고 적음에 달리지 아니하였느니라

1Sa14:6   And Jonathan said to the young man that bate his armour, Come, and let us go over unto the garrison of these uncircumcised: it may be that the LORD will work for us: for there is no restraint to the LORD to save by many or by few.

삼상14:7   병기 든 자가 그에게 이르되 당신의 마음에 있는 대로 다 행하여 앞서 가소서 내가 당신과 마음을 같이하여 따르리이다

1Sa14:7   And his armourbearer said unto him Do all that is in thine heart: turn thee; behold, I am with thee according to thy heart.

삼상14:8   요나단이 가로되 보라 우리가 그 사람들에게로 건너가서 그들에게 보이리니

1Sa14:8   Then said Jonathan, Behold, we will pass over unto these men, and we will discover ourselves unto them.

삼상14:9   그들이 만일 이같이 우리에게 이르기를 우리가 너희에게로 가기를 기다리라 하면 우리는 우리 곳에 가만히 서서 그들에게로 올라가지 말것이요

1Sa14:9   If they say thus unto us, Tatty until we come to you; then we will stand still in our place, and will not go up unto them.

삼상14:10   그들이 만일 이같이 말하기를 우리에게로 올라오라 하면 우리가 올라갈 것은 여호와께서 그들을 우리 손에 붙이셨음이니 이것이 우리에게 표징이 되리라 하고

1Sa14:10   But if they say thus, Come up unto us: then we will go up : for the LORD hath delivered them into our hand: and this shall be a sign unto us.

삼상14:11   둘이 다 블레셋 사람의 부대에게 보이매 블레셋 사람이 가로되 보라 히브리 사람이 그 숨었던 구멍에서 나온다 하고

1Sa14:11   And both of them discovered themselves unto the garrison of the Philistines: and the Philistines said, Behold, the Hebrews come forth out of the holes where they had hid themselves.

삼상14:12   그 부대 사람들이 요나단과 그 병기 든 자를 대하여 가로되 우리에게로 올라오라 너희에게 한 일을 보이리라 한지라 요나단이 자기 병기 든 자에게 이르되 나를 따라 올라오라 여호와께서 그들을 이스라엘의 손에 붙이셨느니라 하고

1Sa14:12   And the men of the garrison answered Jonathan and his armourbearer

and said, Come up to us, and we will shew you a thing. And Jonathan said unto his armourbearer, Come up after me: for the LORD hath delivered them into the hand of Israel.

삼상14:13   요나단이 손발로 붙잡고 올라갔고 그 병기 든 자도 따랐더라 블레셋 사람들이 요나단 앞에서 엎드러지매 병기 든 자가 따라가며 죽였으니

1Sa14:13   And Jonathan climbed up upon his hands and upon his feet, and his armourbearer after him: and they fell before Jonathan; and his armourbearer slew after him.

삼상14:14   요나단과 그 병기 든 자가 반 일경 지단 안에서 처음으로 도륙한 자가 이십인 가량이라

1Sa14:14   And that first slaughter, which Jonathan and his armourbearer made, was about twenty men, within as it were an half acre of land, which a yoke of oxen might plow.

삼상14:15   들에 있는 진과 모든 백성 중에 떨림이 일어났고 부대와 노략군들도 떨었으며 땅도 진동하였으니 이는 큰 떨림이었더라

1Sa14:15   And there was trembling in the host, in the field, and among all the people: the garrison, and the spoilers, they also trembled, and the earth quaked so it was a very great trembling.

삼상14:16   베냐민 기브아에 있는 사울의 파숫군이 바라본즉 허다한 블레셋 사람이 무너져 이러 저리 흩어지더라

1Sa14:16   And the watchmen of Saul in Gibeah of Benjamin looked; and , behold, the multitude melted away, and they went on beating down one another.

삼상14:17   사울이 자기와 함께한 백성에게 이르되 우리에게서 누가 나갔는지 점고하여 보라 하고 점고한즉 요나단과 그의 병기 든 자가 없었졌더라

1Sa14:17   Then said Saul unto the people that were with him, Number now, and see who is gone from us. And when they had numbered, behold, Jonathan and his armourbearer were not there.

삼상 14:18   사울이 아히야에게 이르되 하나님의 궤를 이리로 가져오라 하니 그 때에 하나님의 궤가 이스라엘 자손과 함께 있음이라

1Sa14:18   And Saul said unto Ahiah, Bring hither the ark of God. For the a가 of God was at that time with the children of Israel.

삼상14:19   사울이 제사장에게 말할 때에 블레셋 사람의 진에 소동이 점점 더한지라 사울이 제사장에게 이르되 네 손을 거두라 하고

1Sa14:19   And it came to pass, while saul talked unto the priest, that the noise that was in the host of the Philistines went on and increased: and Saul unto the priest, Withdraw thine hand.

삼상14:20   사울과 그와 함께한 모든 백성이 모여 전장에 가서 본즉 블레셋 사람이 각각 칼로 그 동무를 치므로 크게 혼란하였더라

1Sa14:20   And Saul and all the people that were with him assembled themselves, and they came to the battle: and behold, every man's sword was against his fellow and there was a very great discomfiture.

삼상14:21   전에 블레셋 사람과 함께하던 히브리 사람이 사방에서 블레셋 사람과 함께 와서 진에 들어 왔더니 그들이 돌이켜 사울과 요나단과 함께한 이스라엘 사람과 합하였고

1Sa14:21   Moreover the Hebrews that were with the Philistines before that time, which went up with them into the camp from the county round about, even they also turned to be with the Israelites that were with Saul and Jonathan.

삼상14:22   에브라임 산지에 숨었던 이스라엘 모든 사람도 블레셋 사람의 도망함을 듣고 싸우러 나와서 그들을 추격하였더라

1Sa14:22   Likewise all the men of Israel which had hid themselves in mount Ephraim, when they heard that the Philistines fled, even they also followed hard after them in the battle.

삼상14:23   여호와께서 그날에 이스라엘을 구원하시므로 전쟁이 벧아웬을 지나니라

1Sa14:23   So the LORD saved Israel that day and the battle passed over unto Bethaven.

삼상14:24 이 날에 이스라엘 백성이 피곤하였으니 이는 사울이 백성에게 맹세시켜 경계하여 이르기를 저녁 곧 내가 내 원수에게 보수하는 때까지 아무 식물이든지 먹는 사람은 저주를 받을지어다 하였음이라 그러므로 백성이 식물을 맛보지 못하고

1Sa14:24   And the men of Israel were distressed that day: for Saul had adjured the people, saying, Cursed be the man that eateth any food until evening, that I may be avenged on mine enemies, that I may be avenged on mine enemies. So none of the people tasted any food.

삼상14:25   그들이 다 수풀에 들어간즉 땅에 꿀이 있더라

1Sa14:25   And all they of the land came to a wood; and there was honey upon the ground.

삼상14:26   백성이 수풀로 들어갈 때에 꿀이 흐르는 것을 보고도 그들이 맹세를 두려워하여 손을 그 입에 대는 자가 없으나

1Sa14;26   And when the people were come into the wood, behold, the honey dropped; but no man put his hand to his mouth: for the people feared the oath.

삼상14:27   요나단은 그 아비가 맹세로 백성에게 명할 때에 듣지 못하였으므로 손에 가지 지팡이 끝을 내밀어 꿀을 찍고 그 손을 돌이켜 입에 대매 눈이 밝아졌더라

1Sa14:27   But Jonathan heard not when his father charged people with the oath: werefore he put forth the end of the rod that was in his hand, and dipped it in an honeycomb, and put his hand to his mouth; and his eyes were enlightened.

삼상14:28   때에 백성 중 하나가 고하여 가로되 당신의 부친이 맹세로 백성에게 엄히 명하여 말씀하시기를 오늘날 식물을 먹는 사람은 저주를 받을 지어다 하셨나이다 그러므로 백성이 피곤하였나이다

1Sa14:28   Then answered one of the people, and said, Thy father straitly charged the people with an oath, saying, Cursed be the man that eateth any food this day. And the people were faint.

삼상14:29   요나단이 가로되 내 부친이 이 땅으로 곤란케 하셨도다 보라 내가 이 꿀 조금을 맛보고도 내 눈이 이렇게 밝았거든

1Sa14:29   Then said Jonathan, My father hath troubled the land: see, I pray you, how mine eyes have been enlightened, because I tasted a little of this honey.

삼상14:30   하물며 백성이 오늘 그 대적에게서 탈취하여 얻은 것을 임의로 먹었더면 블레셋 사람을 살육함이 더욱 많지 아니하였겠느냐

1Sa14:30   How much more, if haply the people had eaten freely to day of the spoil of their enemies which they found? for had there not been now a much greater slaughter among the Philistines?

   요나단이 적군과 맞서 싸울 때 믿음을 기반으로 한 믿음의 말들과 함께 그는 적군을 대항해서 잘 싸워 이기게 되었습니다.

   When Jonathan faced the enemy in battle, he acted in faith and spoke words of trust in God, and through that faith he overcame and fought bravely against the enemy. 

   하지만 왕이었던 아버지의 통솔과 다른 방식으로 체감했던 요나단은, 어쩌면 더 많은 적군을 무찌를 수 있었을 기회도 있었을 것입니다. 

   However, having experienced the situation differently from his father, who was the king, he might have had the opportunity to defeat even more of the enemy troops.     

   사울은 자신보다 사람들의 관심이 다윗에게 쏟아지자 그것에 대한 왕의 자리에 대한 위태로움을 느꼈던 것을 보게 됩니다.

   Saul seemed to feel that his throne was in danger when the people's attention shifted from him to David. 

   사울의 조급한 마음으로 군대를 통솔한 것으로 오는 결과에 대하여 아들인 요나단이 그의 통솔력에 아쉬움을 표한 것을 볼 수 있습니다.

    It can be seen that Jonathan, Saul's son, expressed disappointment with his leadership due to the results that came from Saul's impulsive and hasty way of commanding the army. 

   중요한 것은 모든 전쟁의 승리는 처음부터 요나단이 말한 바와 같이 사람의 기준에 있는 것이 아닌 하나님께 전쟁의 승패가 있음을 알게 됩니다.

   The import thing is that, as Jonathan said, the outcome of every war and victory does not depend on human standards, but that the victory or defeat of a battle belongs to God. 

   우리가 살고 있는 땅에 살아가고 있는 모든 사람들은 주님께 얻는 승리의 길이 열릴 것을 바라봅니다.

   All people living on this earth hope that a path of victory given by the Lord will be opened for them.
