“Journey of the Boat Lute Revivalists” is a film by Nova Goh produced for TVS.
This film tells the story of researchers, elders and cultural practitioners and their efforts to document and revive endangered indigenous instruments of Borneo.
Join us for this documentary screening and sharing session with curator and cultural practitioners Catriona Maddocks of Catama Borneo, Rining Peter, Howard Dree, Hayree Hashim and Dato Sri Edmund Langgu.

Borneo Boat Lute Revival is a platform to research, elevate and revive endangered indigenous knowledge, practices and instruments. Based in East Malaysia, for the past five years this collective of musicians, cultural practitioners, curators and researchers have been exploring the family of traditional lutes found throughout Sarawak, Sabah, Kalimantan and Brunei.
Documentary produced for TVS. Borneo Boat Lute Revival activities are supported by the British Council’s Connections Through Culture programme.
