천성경 (증) - 390. 정성과 하늘 역사

13 민족복귀시대에는 가정복귀시대에 들이던 정성 이상의 정성을 들일 수 있는 사람이 통일교인 가운데 없다면 책임을 짊어진 책임자가 정성을 들여야 합니다. 그러지 않으면 통일교회는 민족적인 운명을 남겨 놓고 그 한계선을 넘어갈 수 없습니다. 만일 한 사람이라도 그 한계선을 넘어가서, 하나님의 무한하신 생명력을 투입하듯이 자기 생명을 투입하고 온갖 사랑의 마음을 투입하는 한 통일교회는 그로 말미암아 발전할 것입니다. 그러나 그런 사람이 없을 때는 정지해 있거나 후퇴할 것입니다. 통일교회가 발전하는 데에는 반드시 그 배후에 발전하게 하는 동기가 있습니다. 즉 통일교회를 국가와 민족을 넘어 세계로까지 끌고 가기 위해 자기 생명력을 투입하는 사람이 있을 것입니다. 그 사람이 누구인지 알아야 됩니다. 생명력뿐만 아니라 온갖 사랑을 투입하고 희생하는 사람이 있어야 합니다. 그런 사람이 없이는 세계로 발전할 수 있는 통일교회가 될 수 없습니다. 이것은 원리적인 입장에서 볼 때 당연한 이치입니다.

14 뜻길을 따라 나온 여러분은 자기 생명력과 사랑의 힘을 민족을 넘고 세계를 넘어 그 이상의 자리까지 투입해야 됩니다. 여러분이 투입하는 생명력과 사랑의 힘이 교회 발전의 행로를 개척하는 요인이 되는 것입니다. 땅 위의 슬픈 사연을 품고 부딪쳐 가는 통일교회의 운명을 안고 몸부림치는 사람들이 있다면, 그들을 위해서 온갖 정성을 들이고 감사와 치하를 드려도 부족할 것입니다. 그런데도 불구하고 자기를 중심삼고 비판하고 자기와 관계가 되어 있지 않다고 무관하게 대해 버린다면 그는 거기에서 마지막이라는 것입니다. 여러분은 통일교회가 발전하는 사실을 바라보고 무한히 고마움을 느낌과 동시에 자신의 부족함을 느끼고 ‘오늘은 이렇지만 나에게도 힘을 주소서.’라고 해야 됩니다. 가을절기면 가을절기로 끝내고 겨울절기면 겨울절기로 끝낼 것이 아니라, 내 깊은 속에 깃들어 있는 내일의 봄날을 맞이하여 활짝 피어날 수 있는 생명력과 사랑의 힘을 찾지 못하면 여러분이 가는 길은 끝장이라는 것입니다.

15 하나님은 도의 책임자나 지도자들이 지상에서 영계의 길을 닦아 나가다가 실패하여 그 길을 넘지 못하게 되었는데도, 다시 그 길을 위해 정성을 들이며 찾아 나오는 사람이 있다면 그 사람을 보호하십니다. 하지만 언제나 그를 보호하시는 것이 아닙니다. 그 사람이 앞서 간 사람들의 실패의 경지에 다다랐을 때나 그런 자리에 들어갔더라도 거기에서 정성을 들이면 하나님은 그 사람이 실패권 내에서 빠져 나올 수 있도록 배후에서 조정합니다. 그리하여 하나님의 직접적인 은사를 받을 수 있게 역사하신다는 것입니다.

16 하나님은 도의 세계를 책임졌던 사람들이 그 책임을 완수하지 못하고 간 길의 배후에서 수많은 영계의 인연을 중심삼고 언제나 또다시 책임지울 수 있는 은사의 터전을 마련하여, 다시 그 길을 따라 나오는 사람들에게 실패의 길을 모면케 해주신다는 것입니다. 이때는 하나님이 자기 입장을 중심삼고 생각하는 것이 아니라, 도의 길을 위하여 정성 들이는 입장을 중심삼고 역사해 나오시게 됩니다. 하나님은 이렇게 한 단계 한 단계 높이 올라갈 수 있게끔 역사하는 것입니다.

17 교회장은 부모 입장입니다. 부모는 자식들을 다 재워 놓기 전에는 먼저 자지 못합니다. 아프지 않는 한 그러지 못하는 것입니다. 철모르는 아들딸의 내일을 염려하면서 눈물짓고, 생활의 어려움을 느끼게 될 때에는 가슴을 조여 가면서 그 아들딸을 위해 복을 빈 후에 잠자리에 드는 것이 부모의 마음입니다. 마찬가지로 책임자는 잠을 못 자야 합니다. 그리고 새벽이나 밤에 조용한 시간이 나면 자기 교회 식구들을 위해 남모르게 눈물 흘리며 정성 들여 줘야 된다는 것입니다. 그래야 기반이 닦아지는 것입니다. 이렇게 자식을 키워 어떻게 해야 됩니까? 교회보다 나라를 위해 살 수 있는 애국자로 만들어야 합니다. 그러기 위해서는 부모가 본을 보여 주어야 합니다.

18 사랑으로 올바른 교육을 한 후에 하라고 해야 올바른 부모입니다. 여러분이 그러한 생활을 하면 하나님은 여러분을 떠나려야 떠날 수 없습니다. 또한 그런 사람에게는 무엇인지 모를 강한 힘이 있어서 모든 사람의 시선을 자동적으로 끌게 됩니다. 그 사람에게 관심을 안 가질 수 없다는 것입니다. 겨울에 화덕에 불을 피워 놓으면 찬 화덕과 더운 화덕은 설명을 하지 않더라도 누구나 알기 때문에 가지 말라고 해도 더운 화덕을 찾아가게 됩니다. 마찬가지로 여러분도 그렇게 사람이 찾아들 수 있는 사람이 되어야 합니다. 그러한 전통적 기반을 갖추어서 희생적 각오 아래 개인의 새로운 전통을 확대시켜서 가정적 기반에 연결시키고 그것으로 종족·민족·국가를 형성하자는 것입니다. 이것이 하늘이 가는 길입니다.

19 만일 책임자가 잘못하게 되면, 책임자가 옳지 않게 될 때는 어떻게 하느냐? 내가 그 사람을 중심삼고 끝까지 맞춰 나가게 될 때는 그 책임자가 잘못되었으면 책임자는 꺾여 나가고 책임자를 위하여 정성껏 모시던 나는 그 책임자의 후계자가 됩니다. 그런 사람은 어디를 가든지 발전할 수 있습니다. 아무리 나쁜 사람을 대해도 그 사람의 마음을 맞추어 조정하려고 하는 사람한테는 그 마음에 맞추도록 조정받는 책임자는 반드시 꺾여 나간다는 것입니다. 못할 것을 명령받고, 그 못할 것을 틀림없이 한다고 하게 되면 자기는 안 하고 시킨 사람이 오래 못 갑니다. 안 하는 사람은 나무 싹으로 말하면 정지해 있고 이것을 하는 사람은 자라는 것과 마찬가지입니다.

20 신세를 지는 사람은 어느 사회에서든지 제거당하고 전부 그를 싫어하게 됩니다. 삼자 취급을 하는 것입니다. 여러분은 무슨 책임자가 나쁘다고 말하면 안 됩니다. 그 책임자 앞에 내가 나 자체를 빛낼 수 있고 내 실적을 공정하게 나타낼 수 있는 좋은 기회가 됐다고 생각하라는 것입니다. 그 주위에 있는 사람은 전부 나를 인정한다는 것입니다. 그 책임자가 능력이 있어 세밀히 지도해 주면 나에게 무슨 실적이 있겠습니까? 책임자가 부족함으로 인해 내가 빛날 수 있는 좋은 기회가 된다는 것입니다. 그렇기 때문에 불평할 수 있는 데 가서 불평하지 말고 후퇴하는 데 가서 후퇴하지 말라는 것입니다. 내가 만난 사람의 장사를 치러 주고, 제사를 지내 주고, 꽃을 꽂아 주고 가겠다는 마음을 가지라는 것입니다. 그러면 언제나 주인이 됩니다.

21 여러분이 높은 산에 올라가면 그 주위 사람들이 어서어서 구해 달라고 하는 음성을 들을 수 있고, 영계의 선조들이 어서어서 구해 달라고 하는 감을 느껴야 됩니다. 그 가운데 책임을 해야 됩니다. 그것이 제사장입니다. 제사장의 자격증을 갖고 자기 책임을 해야 됩니다. 아무리 머리가 아파도 아프다고 못하고, 아무리 고단해도 고단하다고 얘기 못하는 것이 제사장입니다. 하나님이 쉬라는 명령을 해야 쉬는 것입니다. 책임 못하게 되면 도리어 탕감을 받게 되어 병이 납니다. 그 길을 피해 가기 위해서 자체 내에서 핍박받는 길을 만들어서 가기도 해야 됩니다. 제사장은 맨 아래서부터 먹는 그 밥을 먹고 쭉 올라가야 됩니다. 입고 사는 것도 저 밑창에서부터 입고 가야 됩니다. 전부 복귀해 가는 것입니다. 그래서 나라와 하나되고 백성과 하나됨으로써 올라가는 것입니다. 비참한 것입니다. 그런 의미에서 선생님이 핍박받는 것을 감사하게 생각할 때가 많습니다. 내 가정과 우리 교회가 해야 할 탕감을 외부에서 이렇게 떠들고 함으로써 외적 탕감으로 전부 소모시키고 있습니다.

22 책임자는 고생해야 됩니다. 고생하는 것은 탕감조건을 제시하는 것이 됩니다. 잠을 안 자고 기도하고, 정성 들이고, 그저 쉬지 않고 노력해서 외적 탕감을 해줌으로써 어떻게 됩니까? 사람을 왕과 같이 모시는 것도 탕감입니다. 탕감법입니다. 그 사람이 암만 나쁘더라도 왕과 같이 모시게 됐을 때, 그 정성의 마음을 그 사람이 못 받으면 하나님이 받아 줍니다. 그 사람이 통일교회를 믿지 않고 나가면 그의 선한 조상이 쌓은 모든 복을 내가 몽땅 인계받습니다. 무서운 작전입니다. 전체의 복, 만민의 것을 내가 찾는 것입니다. 수확하는 것입니다. 거두는 것입니다.

23 통일교회가 가르치는 것은 ‘개인은 가정을 위해서 희생하라.’라는 것입니다. 개인이 가정을 위해 희생하게 되면 그 가정은 자연히 탕감해 반드시 복 받을 수 있는, 잘살 수 있는 자리에 가는 것입니다. 희생한 사람이 중심이 됩니다. 보다 희생해서 모든 환경에 이익을 갖다 준 사람은 반드시 중심자가 되는 동시에 책임자가 됩니다. 그러니 자기가 잘되기 위해서, 복 받기 위해서 정성 들이는 것보다도 전체의 중심, 책임자가 될 수 있는 복을 받기 위해서 정성 들이고 신앙길을 따르는 것이 천리와 역사가 원하는 신앙길임을 확실히 알아야 됩니다. 그래서 통일교회는 이 원칙에 의해 ‘개인은 가정을 위해서 희생하라.’라고 하는 것입니다. 까닭 없이 하는 것이 아닙니다. 여러분이 그렇게 희생하면 여러분이 가정의 중심존재가 되고, 그 가정의 복을 계대하는 데 있어서 여러분의 아들딸을 통해 여러분의 집안이 복을 나누어 갖게 마련입니다. 그리고 앞으로 종족이 되면 그 가정이 그 종족을 치리할 수 있는 중심가정, 복의 중심이 된다는 것입니다.

天聖経 (增) - 390. 精誠と天の役事

13　民族復帰時代には、家庭復帰時代に捧げた精誠以上の精誠を捧げられる人が、統一教会の教会員の中にいなければ、責任をもった責任者が精誠を捧げなけ ればなりません。そのようにしなければ、統一教会は民族的な運命を残し、その限界線を越えていくことができません。もし一人でもその限界線を越えて、神様 の無限の生命力を投入するように自分の生命を投入し、すべての愛の心を投入すれば、統一教会はその人によって発展するでしょう。
しかし、そのような人がいないときは、停止したり、後退したりするでしょう。統一教会が発展するときには、必ずその背後に発展させる動機があるのです。す なわち、国家と民族を越えて世界まで統一教会を率いていくために、自分の生命力を投入する人がいるはずなのです。その人が誰かを知らなければなりません。 生命力だけでなく、すべての愛を投入して犠牲になる人がいなければなりません。そのような人がいなければ、世界へと発展できる統一教会にはなれません。こ れは原理的立場から見るとき、当然の道理なのです。

14　み旨の道に従ってきた皆さんは、自分の生命力と愛の力を、民族を越え、世界を越え、それ以上の位置まで投入しなければなりません。皆さんが投入する 生命力と愛の力が、教会発展の行路を開拓する要因になるのです。地上の悲しい事情を抱き、ぶつかっていく統一教会の運命を抱いて身もだえする人々がいれ ば、彼らのためにあらゆる精誠を尽くし、感謝と称賛を捧げても足りません。
それにもかかわらず、自分を中心として批判し、自分と関係ないと言って無関係だと考えてしまえば、その人はそこで終わりだというのです。皆さんは、統一教 会が発展する事実を見つめ、無限に感謝を感じると同時に自らの不足を感じ、「きょうはこうですが、私にも力を下さい」と言わなければなりません。秋の季節 であれば秋の季節で終わらせ、冬の季節であれば冬の季節で終わらせるのではなく、自分の深い所に宿っている、あすの春の日を迎えていっぱいに咲く生命力と 愛の力を探し出せなければ、皆さんの行く道は終わりだというのです。

15　宗教の責任者や指導者が地上で霊界の道を築く途中で失敗し、その道を越えられなくなったにもかかわらず、再びその道のために精誠を尽くしながら訪ね てくる人がいれば、神様はその人を保護されるのです。しかし、いつでもその人を保護されるのではありません。その人が先に歩んだ人々の失敗の境地に到達し たときや、その場に入ったとき、そこで精誠を捧げれば、神様はその人が失敗圏内から抜け出してくることができるよう、背後で調整するのです。そうして神様 の直接的な恩賜を受けられるように役事されるというのです。

16　神様は、宗教の世界に責任をもった人々が、その責任を完遂できずに逝った道の背後で、数多くの霊界を中心として、いつでも再び責任を担わせることの できる恩賜の基台を準備し、再びその道に従ってくる人々が失敗の道を免れるようにしてくださるというのです。このときは神様が、自分の立場を中心として考 えるのではなく、宗教のために精誠を尽くす立場を中心として役事されるのです。神様は、このように一段階、一段階高く上がっていけるように役事されます。

17　教会長は父母の立場です。父母は、子女たちをすべて寝かせるまでは、先に寝ることができません。体調が悪いということでもない限り、そのようにはで きないというのです。分別のつかない子女たちのあすを心配しながら涙し、生活の苦しさを感じるときには胸を締めつけながら、その息子、娘のために福を願っ たあとに寝床につくのが、父母の心です。
 同じように、責任者は眠ることができないようでなければなりません。そして、早朝や夜に静かな時間ができれば、自分の教会の食口のために人知れず涙を流 し、精誠を尽くしてあげなければならないというのです。そのようにしてこそ、基盤が築かれるのです。このように子女を育てて、どのようにしなければなりま せんか。教会よりも国のために生きる愛国者にすべきです。そのためには、父母が手本を見せてあげなければなりません。

18　愛によって正しく教育したのちに、「やりなさい」と言ってこそ、正しい父母です。皆さんがそのような生活をすれば、神様は皆さんから離れようとして も離れられません。また、そのような人には、何か分からない強い力があり、すべての人の視線を自動的に引くようになります。その人には、関心をもたざるを 得ないというのです。
 冬に、火鉢に火を起こしておけば、冷たい火鉢と熱い火鉢は説明しなくても誰でも分かるので、「行くな」と言っても、熱い火鉢を訪ねていくのです。同じよう に、皆さんも、そのように人が訪ねてくる人間にならなければなりません。そのような伝統的基盤を備え、犠牲的覚悟のもとで個人の新しい伝統を拡大し、家庭 的基盤に連結させて、それによって氏族、民族、国家を形成しようというのです。これが天の行く道です。

19　もし責任者が誤り、責任者が間違うときはどのようにしますか。私がその人を中心として最後まで合わせていけば、その誤った責任者は出ていき、責任者 のために精誠を尽くして侍った「私」が、その責任者の後継者になるのです。そのような人はどこに行っても発展します。いくら間違っている人と接するときで も、その人の心に合わせて調整しようとすれば、その心に合わせるよう調整された人が、必ず折れて出ていくというのです。できないことを命令され、そのでき ないことを「間違いなくやります」と言えば、自分がやらないのに命令した人が長く続かないのです。木の芽で言えば、やらない人は停止し、これをする人は育 つのです。

20　負債を負った人は、どの社会でも除去され、すべてその人を嫌うのです。第三者の扱いをするのです。皆さんは、どの責任者が悪いなどと言ってはいけま せん。「その責任者の前に私が私自体を輝かせ、私の実績を公正に表すことのできる良い機会ができた」と思いなさいというのです。その周囲にいる人は、すべ て「私」を認定するというのです。
その責任者に能力があり、細かく指導してくれるなら、私にとって何の実績になるでしょうか。責任者が不足であることによって、「私」が輝ける良い機会にな るというのです。ですから、不平を言う所に行って不平を言わず、後退する所に行って後退してはいけないというのです。私が出会った人の仕事を手伝ってあ げ、祭祀を行ってあげ、花を挿してあげようという心をもちなさいというのです。そうすれば、いつでも主人になるのです。

21　皆さんが高い山に登れば、その周囲の人々が「早く早く救ってほしい」と言う声を聞くことができなければならず、霊界の先祖たちが「早く早く救ってほ しい」と言う思いを感じなければなりません。その中で責任を果たさなければならないのです。それが祭司長です。祭司長の資格証書をもって、自分の責任を果 たさなければなりません。
いくら頭が痛くても「痛い」と言えず、いくら疲れていても「疲れた」と言えないのが祭司長です。神様が「休みなさい」と命令してこそ、休めるのです。責任 を果たせなければ逆に蕩減を受け、病気になります。その道を避けていくために、自分で迫害を受ける道をつくって行くこともしなければなりません。祭司長 は、食べることにおいても、一番下から上がっていかなければなりません。着ることにおいても、一番どん底から行かなければならないのです。すべてを復帰し ていくのです。そうして国と一つとなり、民と一つとなることによって、上がっていくのです。悲惨なのです。そのような意味で、先生は迫害を受けることを有 り難く思うときが多くあります。「私」の家庭と私たちの教会がすべき蕩減を、外部でこのように騒ぐことによって、外的蕩減としてすべて消耗させているので す。

22　責任者は、苦労しなければなりません。苦労するのは、蕩減条件を提示することになります。寝ずに祈り、精誠を捧げ、そのまま休まずに努力して外的蕩 減をしてあげることによって、どのようになりますか。人を王のように侍るのも蕩減です。蕩減法です。その人がいくら悪くても、王のように侍ったとき、その 精誠の心をその人が受け取れなければ、神様が受け取ってくださるのです。その人が統一教会を信じないで出ていけば、その人の善の先祖が積んだすべての福 を、「私」が根こそぎ受け継ぐのです。恐ろしい作戦です。全体の福、万民の物を私が受け継ぐのです。収穫するのです。収めるというのです。

23　統一教会が教えるのは、「個人は家庭のために犠牲になりなさい」ということです。個人が家庭のために犠牲になれば、その家庭は自然に蕩減し、必ず福 を受け、豊かに暮らせる位置に行くのです。犠牲になった人が中心になります。より犠牲になってすべての環境に利益をもたらした人は、必ず中心者になると同 時に、責任者になるのです。
ですから、自分がうまくいくために、福を受けるために精誠を尽くすよりも、全体の中心、責任者になる福を受けるために精誠を尽くし、信仰の道に従うのが、 天理と歴史が願う信仰の道であることをはっきりと知らなければなりません。それで、統一教会は、この原則によって「個人は家庭のために犠牲になりなさい」 と言うのです。理由なく語っているのではありません。皆さんがそのように犠牲になれば、皆さんが家庭の中心存在となり、その家庭の福を継ぐときに、皆さん の息子、娘を通し、皆さんの家庭が福を分かち合うようになっているのです。そして、今後、氏族になれば、その家庭がその氏族を統治できる中心家庭、福の中 心になるというのです。

13 This is the era when we should restore the people. If the Unification Church members's devotion does not surpass the era of the family, then the leader must take responsibility to offer more devotion. If this does not happen, the church will not be able to break through to the level of the people. However, if even one person is able to go to this level by investing all his life and love, just as God has invested His boundless life force, then the Unification Church will develop through him. However, if there is no one like that, we will remain stagnant or retreat. For the church to develop, there must be a driving force behind the scenes. This means someone must invest life and soul, becoming a sacrifice to lift the Unification Church even beyond the people and the nation to the world. You should know who that person is. In sacrificing himself, that person should invest not only his life and soul but also all his love. Unless such a person exists, the Unification Church will not develop to the world level. 14 When you follow the Will, you have to invest your life completely. You have to invest your life force and the power of your love for a higher realm, beyond the nation and the world. Your life force and the power of your love become the elements that enable you to pioneer the path to grow the church. There will be people who struggle so much when having to face the destiny of the Unification Church and to embrace all the sorrowful circumstances on this earth. If so, even if you offer all manner of devotion for them and give them all manner of thanks and appreciation, it still will not be enough. Nevertheless, anyone who criticizes those members and ignores them will eventually perish. When you see that the Unification Church is growing you should feel endlessly grateful. At the same time, you should feel how lacking you are and pray, "I am at this level today, but please give me strength to become better." You should not be the kind of person who just lets the sea-sons come and go. If during the autumn and winter you are unable to discover the life force and the power of love that are deep inside you, you will be unable to meet the coming spring and fully blossom. 15 Suppose that the founders of religions and the leaders who followed them were unable to fully prepare the path for people on earth to go to the good spirit world. Nevertheless, if someone continued pursuing that path for people on earth, while offering sincere devotion, God would protect that person. This does not mean God would protect him or her all the time. Rather, it means that when that individual faced the situation where his or her predecessors failed, or encountered a similar situation, if he or she offered devotion, God would lead that person to break through the predecessors' failed circumstances. This is how God works to advance humankind to the point where we can directly receive His grace.( 032-173,19700712)

16 There have been people who were responsible to lay the foundation for the way of the Principle, but who could not fulfill their responsibility. Subsequently, based on the numerous spirits who went to the spirit world, God established a foundation to pass down the same responsibility and bestowed His grace so that the successors on that path could overcome the previous failure. At that time, God did not think of His own situation. Rather, He worked based on their offering of devotion. God worked so they could climb up step by step.( 032-174,19700712)

17 A church leader is in the position of a parent. Parents cannot go to sleep before they have put their children to bed. Unless they get sick, they cannot go to bed early. The parents' heart is such that they shed tears worrying about the future of their sons and daughters who are still immature. When their children experience difficulties in life, the parents will not go to bed without first praying for their children. Likewise, church leaders should feel so concerned about the members that they are unable to sleep. In the quiet moments of early morning or late at night, they should tearfully offer devotion for the church members. That is how leaders can lay a foundation. After raising the members in this way, as their children, what should church leaders do? They should inspire their members to become patriots who live for their country more than for their church. Leaders can do so only if they, in the parent position, set the example.( 034-031,19700829)

18 Upright parents, before telling their children to do something, first educate them properly with love. If you live that way, God will not be able to leave you even if He wants to. If you become that kind of person, you will have a mysterious and strong power that will automatically attract others' attention. People will have to be interested in you. In the winter, when you make a fire in the stove, people will flock to it. No one has to tell them which stove is hot and which stove is cold; they will know. In the same way you have to become a person that other people flock to. You need to establish your own foundation based on this tradition. Then, with sacrificial determination, you must expand it to a family foundation and then connect it to the tribe and the nation. This is the path that Heaven takes.( 034-031,19700829)

19 What should you do if your leader does something wrong, or makes a mistake? You need to wholeheartedly work with that person to correct the situation. If the leader is beset with problems and has to leave that position, you will become the successor. If you are that kind of person, you will advance wherever you go. No matter how bad your leader may be, if you continuously attempt to unite in heart, that leader will surely be replaced one day. If you are ordered to do something impossible but accomplish it anyway, the leader who gave that direction without personally having fulfilled it will not be in that position much longer. The person who orders others to do what he or she has not done can be likened to a bud that has stopped growing, but the person who faithfully carries out those orders is like a growing bud.( 069-281,19740101)

20 People who are always indebted to others are the rejects of society. No one likes them. They are treated as outsiders. You should not say that a particular leader is bad. Rather you should think, "Under this leader I have a good opportunity to fairly demonstrate my ability and let my results shine." Do so, and everyone around you will recognize you. If your leaders are capable and guide you in detail, how can you claim your own results? Deficiencies in a leader give you a good chance to shine. That is why I am telling you not to complain when other people do, and not to draw back when others do. When the leader dies, you should even have the heart to lead the funeral service for that person, and put flowers on his or her grave. This is how you emerge as the owner.( 069-282,19740101)

21 When you go to a high mountain and pray, you should be able to hear the voices of people around you calling out, "Save me!" You should also sense your ancestors in the spirit world imploring you to save them quickly. They are calling out to you because they want you to fulfill your responsibility for them, as their high priest. That is a role of the high priest, and you have to fulfill your responsibility. A high priest cannot say, "I have a headache," no matter how bad his headache is. He cannot say, "I am exhausted," no matter how tired he is. He cannot rest until God permits him to rest. If he is unable to fulfill his responsibility he has to pay indemnity, and thus falls ill. To avoid that, he may even need to put himself in the situation to be persecuted. A high priest needs to eat the kind of food that beggars eat, and climb up from there. Also, he should start by wearing the humblest clothes. In this way he should restore everything in every field. If he wants the nation and the people to become one with him, he has to start at the bottom before he can go up. He has to experience the misery of the people. Seen in this light, I am often thankful for the persecution I get. The noise that the outside world is making about us enables my family and our church to pay all the indemnity that needs to be paid.( 089-292,19760204)

22 As a leader, you have to suffer. Suffering means that you are making indemnity conditions. If you pray without sleeping and offer other devotional conditions, what will happen? And if you work hard without resting and do your best to pay external indemnity, what will happen? Attend other people as your kings. That is also paying indemnity. Suppose you attend a very difficult person as if he or she were your lord. Even if that person does not accept your heart of sincere devotion, God will accept it. If that person does not want to follow the Unification Church and leaves, you will inherit all the blessings that his good ancestors had stored up for him. It is a daunting strategy. You will receive all his blessings. You will harvest them and gather them in.( 089-293,19761204)

23 The Unification Church teaches that the individual sacrifices for the family. If that is so, that family too will naturally pay indemnity. Then it will surely be blessed and prosper, and the person who sacrificed himself more than anyone else will become the center. The one who benefited everyone around him will surely be-come the leader. Do not offer devotion for your own success, or to receive blessings. Rather, offer devotion to be given the grace to become the person who can take responsibility for the whole. You should know dearly that the heavenly principle and history require that we take this path. It is based on this principle that the Unification Church teaches that the individual sacrifices for the family. We do not say this arbitrarily, If you sacrifice yourself in this way, you will become the center of your family. Your family will be blessed and will pass on these blessings to your sons and daughters. Later, when your family expands into a tribe, your family will become the central family of your tribe and the center of all its blessings.( 130-295,19840213)
