<p style="text-align: left;"><b>Summary</b>:<br>Paul introduces himself as an apostle of Christ Jesus, appointed according to the command of God the Savior and Christ Jesus, who is the believers’ hope. He addresses Timothy as his true child in the faith and extends to him grace, mercy, and peace from God the Father and Christ Jesus the Lord.<br><br><br><b>Teaching</b>:<br>The church is a place of unity. It does not pursue diversity or pluralism as ends in themselves, nor does it demand uniformity as in totalitarianism. Biblical unity is the unity of one body composed of many members. Paul regarded Timothy as his own son in the faith, treating him as family. Likewise, believers are one family in the Lord and will remain a family eternally in heaven.<br><br>Those who have received a ministry or responsibility in the church should carry it out faithfully. Paul wrote to Timothy so that he would teach the Word properly. The first responsibility of pastoral ministry is to establish one’s own faith rightly. A minister must first establish himself and then help establish others.
