Summary:
Paul urged Timothy to remain in Ephesus so that he could stop certain people from teaching doctrines that differed from the apostolic message. They were devoting themselves to myths and endless genealogies, which produced speculation and controversy rather than advancing God’s work, which is carried out through faith.
Teaching:
God’s kingdom, God’s law, God’s will, and God’s plan together constitute God’s administration. Because the church is where God’s administration is carried out, there is always work to be done for God.
The work of the church is for believers to participate in and fulfill God’s administration. The greatest task within this work is salvation, which the church must accomplish.
All church workers have been entrusted with the responsibility of stewards who carry out God’s administration. Their mission is to teach the Word and bring people to faith.
