제 17급..... 不倦(불권)......태만하지 않음......第304事

  Level 17 : Bulgwon(不倦,불권)... Being untiring / Remaining diligent... Item No. 304.

不倦(불권)은 착함을 행함에 태만하지 않음이다.

  Untiring diligence(不倦,불권) means not being negligent in practicing goodness.

부지런한 匠人(장인)은  그릇을 만들 때 아름다움이 다해야 그치며,
부지런한 의사는 앓는 것을 진찰함에 약이 다해야 그친다.

 A diligent artisan stops only when the beauty of the vessel he creates reaches perfection,

  and a diligent doctor stops examining an illness only when all medicinal remedies

  have been fully exhausted.

착함을 권함도 역시 이와 같아서 착함을 찾아내고 착함을 가려내길
쌀이나 사금을 물에 흔들어 가려내듯 하여 착함이 하나가 되도록 하게 한 다음에야
그치는 것은 부지런한 성품이니 가히 그 福(복)을 받을 수 있게 된다.

  Encouraging goodness is just the same : one must seek out and sift gor goodness

  just as one washes and separates rice or placer gold in water.

  Only stopping after unifying all goodness into one is the nature of true diligence,

  which truly earns and receives its due blessings(福,복).

不倦者는 不倦爲善也라 (불권자는 불권위선야라)

  Being untiring(不倦者,불권자) means not tiring in doing good.

勤匠은 造器하여 窮美而止하며 (근장은 조기하여 궁미이지하며)

  A diligent craftsman crafts a vessel and stops only when its beauty reaches perfection.

勤醫는 診痾하여 盡藥而止하나니 (근의는 진아하여 진약이지하나니)

  A diligent physician examines an illness and stops only when all remedies are fully exhausted.

勤善을 亦如之하여 尋善淘善하여 (근선을 역여지하여 심선도선하여)

  Diligence in seeking goodness is just the same : one must search for goodness and sift for goodness,

合善而止는 勤性也니 可領其福라. (합선이지는 근성야니 가령기복라.)

  and stopping only after gathering all goodness into one is the nature of true diligence― which allows        one to receive its blessings(福,복).
