Summary:
Paul instructs men to pray everywhere with holy hands, without anger or disputes. He also directs women to dress modestly and discreetly, not emphasizing elaborate hairstyles, gold, pearls, or expensive clothing, but adorning themselves with good works appropriate for those who profess godliness.
Teaching:
A true church is one in which the men pray. The men should be filled with the Holy Spirit, faith, and wisdom.
Women should help and encourage the men to become such men. They should inspire them to become more like Jesus and to follow the examples of faithful men such as Moses, Joshua, Daniel, and David.
Women are instructed to conduct themselves modestly. Rather than adorning themselves with extravagance and luxury, they should be clothed with simplicity, purity, and good works. Here, good works mean having sincere faith in God and faithfully submitting to one’s husband.
All of this is part of revering God.
