<p style="text-align: left;"><b>Summary</b>:<br>Paul states that anyone aspiring to serve as an overseer desires a good work. An overseer must be above reproach, faithful to his wife, temperate, self-controlled, respectable, hospitable, and able to teach. He must not be addicted to wine, violent, quarrelsome, or greedy, but must instead be gentle and peaceable.<br><br><b>Teaching</b>:<br>The term “overseer” is not the title of a position of power or authority. Rather, it refers to someone who remains focused on the work entrusted to him, continually watching over it and safeguarding it. An overseer is not distracted in carrying out the work of the church. Whether or not he has sufficient time, he devotes his whole heart, mind, and effort to the work.<br><br>We should seek to become workers in the church. It is wrong to think that there is no need to accept a position or responsibility in the church. God’s holy people must become church workers. In this way, their years in the church will not be in vain, their capacity for faith will grow, and they will faithfully carry out the work of the church.
