<p style="text-align: left;"><b>Summary</b>:<br>Paul writes so that Timothy will know how people should conduct themselves in the household of God, which is the church of the living God and the pillar and support of the truth. He then describes the great mystery of godliness: Christ was revealed in the flesh, vindicated in the Spirit, seen by angels, proclaimed among the nations, believed on in the world, and taken up in glory.<br><br><br><b>Teaching</b>:<br>The essence of the church is not a church building but the gathering of God’s holy people. When those who have been saved through faith in Jesus Christ gather together as God’s people, that gathering is the church.<br><br>Because Christ is the head of the church, believers are under God’s rule. Therefore, overseers and deacons must be people who faithfully submit to His rule by obeying, yielding, and following Him.<br><br>God rules over all creation, but His rule over His household is manifested within the church.
