If you refer to a downward trend or tendency, you mean that something is decreasing or that a situation is getting worse. 말 그대로 하향세를 보일 것이다..라는 뜻이겠죠?

* 국내 최대의 다단계업체 제이유그룹의 로비의혹에 전현직 검사와, 정관계 관료까지 연루됐다는 정황이 속속 불거지면서,검찰이 수사를 전면 확대해, 한 점 의혹도 남지 않게 하겠다고 했죠?? 그래서 Prosecutors expand an investigation into the pyramid company, JU Group..라는 문장이 나온 겁니다. And they are examining allegations that its suspected bribery case.. If you examine something, you look at it carefully. And an allegation is a statement saying that someone has done something wrong.

그래서 examine allegation 이라고 하면 의혹을 조사하다..라는 말이 되는 거죠.

네, Rout/raut/ 이라고 하면, 명사나 동사로, “대패, 혹은 대패시키다”라는 뜻이 있습니다. 아니면 완승..혹은 대승을 sweeping victory라고도 쓸 수 있습니다. 기억해 두시고요!

Thai junta proposes lifting martial law

Thailand's junta leader has said that he has asked the government to lift martial law across more than half the country in what would be the first easing of military rule since the September coup. The cabinet will meet to consider the proposal. Any decision would also have to be endorsed by King Adulyadej.

The leader said he had recommended to Prime Minister that martial law be lifted in some parts of the country, except for provinces on the borders and in Bangkok. "It's up to the cabinet to decide when martial law will be lifted. We cannot decide for them," the leader, General Sonthi added.

Canada Parliament recognizes Quebecers as a nation

The Canadian Parliament recognized Quebecers as a nation within a united Canada, backing a controversial proposal that already prompted one minister in the minority Conservative government to quit.

The House of Commons, Parliament's elected chamber, voted 266-16 in favor of the motion, which the government said it saw as a way to head off pressure from French-speaking separatists who want to break away from Canada.

Critics said the proposal could actually bolster the separatists, and the pro-independence Bloc Quebecois said it would use the change to demand extra powers, including Quebec's right to speak at international meetings.
