Oden Gains 30 Pounds Of Muscle
그렉 오든이 농구를 하는 대신 계속 상체 운동을 하고 있는데, 덕분에 30파운드 가량 근육을 불렸다네요.
![]() The Oregonian - 11/16 - 6:46 PM EST (AP Photo) A high-ranking Blazers source told Jason Quick on Thursday that Greg Oden still has the same body-fat percentage (7.8 percent) as he did when the Blazers drafted him, yet he has gained nearly 30 pounds, bringing him near 280 pounds. Translation: That's 30 pounds of muscle that has been attached to his upper-body (he hasn't been able to do any lower body weight training because of his knee surgery). Oden wasn't able to lift during college because he was recovering from a wrist injury. [READ]

Sports Illustrated - 11/16 - 11:58 PM EST
Indiana Pacers forward Troy Murphy returned to the lineup Friday after missing Wednesday's loss to Washington with a sore left Achilles'. It's the same injury that sidelined Murphy for the first three games of the regular season. "It's getting better," Murphy said. "I thought I'd turned a corner and then (Tuesday) I got kicked and it kind of swelled up on me." Murphy said he'd be slightly limited in his return to action. "Hopefully I get through tonight and get it going back the right way," he said. [READ]

Oden's Muscle Gain Worrying McMillan, Blazers 포틀은 오든이 너무 많이 근육을 불린 것이 아니냐- 라는 걱정을 하고 있네요.
|
ESPN - 11/16 - 11:57 PM EST
Greg Oden might be too pumped up for his eventual NBA debut. Oden is doing what most people with too much idle time tend to do: gain weight. Only Oden is bulking up instead of fattening up and the No. 1 overall pick may be too buff, too fast. "We don't want him to get bigger. That's going to come,'' Portland coach Nate McMillan said on Friday night. "It's very easy for him to put a lot of weight on having a year off. We've really got to be careful about the weight training with him.'' Oden, who will miss this season after he had knee surgery, was in the weight room Friday night before the Trail Blazers played the Philadelphia 76ers , sculpting his upper body. The 7-footer looked chiseled and has gained nearly 30 pounds of muscle -- all in the upper body -- since he was drafted. He is up to 280 pounds. That's too much weight to carry on a surgically repaired knee and McMillan is mildly concerned. "I would much rather have him be wiry strong than bulky, especially coming off a surgery,'' McMillan said. "When you're talking about putting on extra weight and having to carry that weight on a surgically repaired leg, that's not good. We want to be really careful with the weight training with him.'' ESPN - 11/16 - 7:13 PM EST
Stephon Marbury joked about his new reserve role before the New York Knicks ' game against Sacramento on Friday night. "I guess I'll be competing with Manu Ginobili and Jason Terry for Sixth Man of Year," Marbury said. "This is just another chapter and I have to make an adjustment. I'm not going to cry about it." Marbury, back for his second game after skipping out on the team in Phoenix following a clash with coach Isiah Thomas, wasn't in the starting lineup. "Well, he won't start tonight," Thomas said. "As the game moves on we'll see how much he plays and how we play." [READ]

Pacers Will Rest Daniels Against Raptors 페이서스가 다니엘스를 좀 쉬게 해줄려고 한답니다.

Indianapolis Star - 11/16 - 6:08 PM EST
It's back to the bench in street clothes for Indiana Pacers guard Marquis Daniels. Daniels will sit out tonight's game against the Toronto Raptors with a sore left knee. Pacers coach Jim O'Brien said it's best that Daniels doesn't play in back-to-back games because of his knee. O'Brien would rather have Daniels for Saturday's home game against Utah. Daniels, who has been dealing with a knee problem for almost a year, sat out Tuesday's game against Boston so that he could play against Washington on Wednesday. [READ]

ESPN - 11/16 - 6:02 PM EST
The Miami Heat and larger-than-life center Shaquille O'Neal are stuggling at 1-7. The Heat's best player, Dwyane Wade, says the key to getting Shaq and the Heat back on track is for O'Neal to get back the eye of the tiger. "Probably this year more so than any year I have been more vocal with Shaq, talking to him and trying to motivate him," Wade told reporters on Thursday. "But the main thing is Shaq has got to be self-motivated. He has got to be willing and ready to do it." O'Neal's numbers are down and he has struggled with foul trouble as the Heat stumbled out of the gate. In the first half of Miami's loss to the previously winless Seattle SuperSonics , he played just four minutes due to foul trouble and scattered boos from the home crowd serenaded him to the bench. He finished with 10 points, three boards and three turnovers in 16 minutes in the loss. [READ]

Nash Plagued By Rib Problem Again 내쉬가 갈비뼈 쪽에 이상이 있다는 것 같은데.. 심한 것은 아닌데, 통증이 있다고 하는군요.
|
East Valley Tribune - 11/16 - 5:07 PM EST
Steve Nash, who has been plagued the past few years by a rib which has a tendency to slip out of place, is dealing with that issue again, the Suns' point guard said Friday. The injury is not serious enough to keep the two-time MVP sidelined, but it is causing soreness and tightness in his right (shooting) shoulder. “I don’t have very good range of motion on my shoulder right now, but that’s OK,” said Nash, who added he feels the injury most when shooting. “I can contribute in other ways until my shoulder settles down a little bit.” Suns' trainer Aaron Nelson said Nash woke up with irritation in the shoulder earlier this week and that Nash is undergoing treatment to relieve the pain. UK's Gillispie Doesn't Have Formal Contract 음?
|
SI.com - 11/16 - 3:23 PM EST
Billy Gillispie still hasn't signed a formal contract more than seven months after agreeing to become the Kentucky's basketball coach. Gillispie remains employed under a two-page memorandum of understanding that details his compensation package, Athletic Director Mitch Barnhart said Friday. "UK is comfortable with letting the memorandum of understanding serve as an employment agreement since it contains all important elements," Barnhart said. "It's a great financial package -- one of the best in college basketball. We're happy to have Billy Gillispie as our basketball coach." The memorandum, signed April 6 -- the day Gillispie was announced as coach -- stipulates "every reasonable effort" would be made to conclude the contract talks within 60 days. Kentucky (1-1) plays Liberty on Wednesday. [READ]

Brian Windhorst/Beacon-Journal - 11/16 - 11:40 AM EST
The Cavaliers will make an announcement Friday that Larry Hughes is expected to miss about a month with a bone bruise in his left leg. It stems from the collision he had with Leandro Barbosa on Nov. 3. He missed three games after it, but when he came back he was limping and obviously not playing well. He went just 2-of-12 against the Orlando Magic Wednesday and left the game limping. In Los Angeles in his first game back, he sat out the fourth quarter due to limping. [READ]

Are Isiah's Days With Knicks Numbered? 최근 닉스의 분위기가 개판인 가운데, 아이재아가 짤릴 수도 있다는 소문이 돌고 있습니다.
|
Newsday - 11/16 - 8:15 AM EST
Through the turmoil of last season, the "evident progress" edict from Garden Chairman James Dolan that hung over his head and the boos from the home crowd, Isiah Thomas always had one critical element that kept him on solid ground: the loyalty of his players. But after the most publicized coast-to-coast move of Stephon Marbury's career, even that last bit of stable ground may be crumbling. If Thomas loses his players - and the signs were evident in several disgusted expressions after Wednesday night's 84-81 loss to the Clippers - his position as the team's president and coach could be in serious jeopardy. If the Knicks return home with a 2-7 record after this four-game West Coast swing, which continues tonight in Sacramento against the Kings, a change may be inevitable. Dolan is said to have already lost his patience with the poor start. After an apparent order from Dolan following Sunday's 75-72 loss to Miami at the Garden, Thomas took a tough stance to hold Marbury accountable for his inconsistent play. Marbury, a team captain, responded by abandoning the team in Phoenix on Tuesday and returning to New York. On Wednesday, he flew to Los Angeles in time for that night's game. Then Thomas gave him almost 34 minutes of playing time in the loss to the Clippers - after his other players reportedly voted to bench Marbury for the night. "My goal is to try to win a basketball game," was how Thomas tried to explain it. As a result, he may have risked losing his team. [READ]

T-Mac Has Sprained Elbow, Expected To Miss A Week 티맥의 팔꿈치 부상이 1주 가량 지속될 것 같다고 하네요.

ESPN - 11/16 - 8:11 AM EST
Rockets' guard Tracy McGrady is expected to miss about a week after spraining his right elbow against the Los Angeles Lakers on Wednesday night. "It's definitely good news," McGrady said after the Rockets' 93-90 loss. "I actually thought it could have been a lot worse than it was." MRI tests performed Wednesday night revealed no tendon or ligament damage. McGrady suffered a sprained right elbow and nerve irritation in the second quarter and did not return to the game. He will be listed as day-to-day. [READ]

Garbajosa Story Unlikely To Have A Happy Ending 출장 시간을 제대로 받지 못하고 있는 갈바호사가, 추가 수술을 받아야 될 수도 있다고 합니다. 본인은 괜찮다고 주장하는 중.
|
Toronto Star - 11/16 - 6:10 AM EST
A season after being mythologized as a team-first glue guy, Jorge Garbajosa appeared well on his way to becoming a woe-is-me, locker-room bring-down, according to the Toronto Star. Garbajosa, still struggling to find his game in the wake of the horrific March injury that fractured his left fibula and shredded his ankle, hasn't played in the Raptors' past two games. The surgery once recommended by the club's medical staff – the surgery that Garbajosa, acting on advice from the Spanish side of Atlantic, opted against so he could play in September's European championships in his hometown of Madrid – isn't an imminent option. Doctors, after all, are often loath to cut open patients who claim to be bereft of pain and symptom free, as Garbajosa insists he is. Perhaps his tentativeness is due to being aware that his fibula, when last x-rayed around the beginning of training camp, still hadn't fully healed. On a practice court in Italy, Bryan Colangelo, the General Manager, told reporters that there was, according to doctors, a "99 per cent chance" that the bone would not mend without further surgery. So his leg's likely still broken. The infamous $1 million insurance policy that allowed him to play in the European championship is up on Nov. 30. [READ]

Impressive Rookie Sean Williams May Get Start For Nets 션 윌리암스가 네츠의 주전 자리를 꾀찰 것 같다고 하네요.
|
New York Daily News - 11/16 - 6:04 AM EST
Not even three weeks into his first season in the NBA, Nets' forward Sean Williams has opened eyes throughout the organization and could be rewarded with his first start when the Orlando Magic visit the Meadowlands on Friday. Lawrence Frank did not rule out that possibility yesterday when asked about speculation regarding Williams replacing the struggling Nenad Krstic in the starting lineup. The possibility seems real since Krstic is still trying to work his way back from surgery to his left knee that kept him sidelined for most of last season. In Wednesday night's game at Boston, Krstic scored two points and was benched in the second half. Meanwhile, the 6-10 Williams has taken off. In five games, the Boston College product has averaged 7.2points and 2.4 blocks in just over 16minutes a night. His 12 blocks are six more than the next-closest Net - Vince Carter - and equal the total of four other big men on the team. "Rookies are a bonus," Jason Kidd said. "But right now he's a big bonus." Riley Blames Himself For Slow Start 라일리는 히트의 슬로우 스타트에 대해 본인의 책임도 크다고 말합니다.
|
Miami Herald - 11/16 - 5:59 AM EST
A night after an embarrassing 104-95 home loss to previously winless Seattle, Heat Coach Pat Riley blamed himself and his players but suggested he would hold off on the "massive shakeup" at which he had hinted. "I have to raise my level of coaching. Maybe I'm the massive change here," Riley said, laughing. "Anybody else at 1-7, you'd be saying, `Let's get this guy out of here.' I've been here 13 years, and I'm as culpable as anybody else. I've put this team together. I'm just as hard on myself as anybody else." (Riley made clear later, through a team spokesman, that he is not considering stepping down.) [READ]

Jackson's Return Gives Winless Warriors Hope 스테판 잭슨의 복귀가 골든에게 새 바람을 불러 일으켜 주기를.
|
USA Today - 11/16 - 5:56 AM EST
Warriors' captain Stephen Jackson will play for the first time this season Sunday when the team begins a five-game trip at the Toronto Raptors . Jackson began the season serving a seven-game suspension from NBA Commissioner David Stern, a result of pleading guilty in June to a felony count of criminal recklessness. That stemmed from an incident in which Jackson fired a gun outside an Indianapolis strip club during training camp last season when he was with the Pacers. Without Jackson, perhaps Golden State's best perimeter defender, the Warriors have given up a league-high 118.2 points a game, 10.8 more than any other team. They are the only team allowing opponents to shoot better than 50% (51.0) against them. [READ]
