Summary:
The Spirit warns that in later times some people will abandon the faith and follow deceptive spiritual influences and false teachings. These teachings will be spread through hypocritical liars whose consciences have become hardened. They will prohibit marriage and require abstinence from certain foods, even though God created those foods to be received with gratitude by believers who know the truth. Everything God created is good and should not be rejected when received with thanksgiving, because it is sanctified through God’s word and prayer.
Teaching:
The different doctrine mentioned in chapter 1 is the teaching of demons. The teachings of other religions, philosophy, and the humanities have entered the church in great measure. These are the teachings of demons, that is, knowledge that the devil gives to people.
Deceiving spirits truly take hold of people. They cause people to hear voices, see visions, become fixated on a particular verse of Scripture, or have their hearts captivated by different teachings. Because deceiving spirits are extremely clever, people follow them believing that they are following God. They follow the teachings of demons believing that they are the Word of God.
Such people have lost the conscience of faith and have become hypocritical liars. Within the church, they present falsehood as though it were God’s Word or God’s voice. Some of them do this without even realizing that what they are saying is false.
Wherever we go, we may receive and eat all kinds of food through the Word of God and prayer.
