Summary:
Those living under the authority of masters are instructed to regard them as worthy of all honor so that God’s name and the teaching will not be spoken against. Those whose masters are fellow believers must not show them less respect because they are brothers or sisters. Instead, they should serve them even more faithfully because those who benefit from their service are believers and beloved. Timothy is commanded to teach and proclaim these principles
Teaching:
Regardless of what kind of person your superior may be, regard your superior as worthy of full respect in all matters. When believers struggle in the workplace, it is often because they are not living according to Scripture. They may be good people, but they do not know when to be warm and when to be firm. They must learn restraint, self-control, prudence, and courtesy.
In your relationship with God, yield the hegemony of your life to God, who is your Master. Do not live according to your own desires, ambitions, and personal judgment.
When you properly respect order in your relationship with a believing superior, believers benefit, those who are loved by God benefit, and God is honored. When believers live faithfully within the proper order of their respective spheres, the benefit ultimately extends to other believers.
