Summary:
Paul says that for this gospel he was appointed a preacher, an apostle, and a teacher. For this reason he also suffers these things, but he is not ashamed. He knows whom he has believed, and he is convinced that He is able to guard what Paul has entrusted to Him until that day.
Timothy is to retain the standard of sound words he has heard from Paul, in the faith and love that are in Christ Jesus. Through the Holy Spirit who dwells in us, he is to guard the treasure that has been entrusted to him.
Teaching:
Knowing Jesus is salvation. If you attend church without knowing Jesus, you may sell Him out like Judas, deny Him like Peter, or simply run away like the other disciples. Only when we know who Jesus is do we find the courage to stop avoiding, to stop being cowardly, and to break through head-on.
The Holy Spirit dwells within a person of faith, and so do God the Father and Jesus the Son. Since it is the Holy Spirit who dwells within us, do not go elsewhere seeking help. Be led by the Holy Spirit and receive the power of the Holy Spirit. Then, with the wise judgment of the Holy Spirit, we will come to know what we should do.
Our task is to guard the beautiful gospel. Our God is beautiful, His story itself is beautiful, and His beginning and His end are both beautiful. That is why the world God made is beautiful.
Everything God has made is beautiful, and the gospel is the most beautiful of all.
