제 20급......連續(연속)......연달아 계속함......第308事

  Level 20 : Yeon-sok(連續,연속 - Continuation)... Continuing in succession... Matter 308.

連續(연속)은 악을 만드는 것을 연달아 계속하는 것이다.

  Continuation(連續,연속) means continuously creating evil in succession.

도적은 아버지에게 듣는다.

  A thief learns from his father.

흉악한 사람은 아들에게 가르친다.

  A vicious person traches his son.

그러나 아버지의 악함을 들을 수 있겠으며 자식에게 악함을 가르칠 수 있겠는가?

  But how could one listen to a father′s  wickedness,

  and how could one teach wickedness to one′s own child?

아버지에게 악함을 듣고 이를 행하며 또다시 아들에게 악을 가르쳐서 
이를 채찍질하여 연달아 이어 계속 악의 구렁텅이로 굴러 떨어지게 하는 것이니 가히 대재앙을 받게 된다.

  Listening to wickedness from one′s father, practicing it,

  and then teaching wickedness to one′s son again―whipping it forward so that it continuously

  tumbles down into the pit of evil ― will surely result in suffering great calamity.

連續者는 做惡連續也라 (연속자는 주악연속야라)

   "Continuation(連續,연속)" means continuously committing / doing evil in succession.

賊人은 聽父하고 (적인은 청부하고)

  A thief listens to[and learns from] his father,

凶人은 敎子하나니 (흉인은 교자하나니)

  And a wicked person teaches his son.

聽父惡乎아 敎子惡乎아 (청부악호아 교자악호아)

  How could one listen to a father′s evil? 

  How could one trach evil to one′s son? 

聽父惡而行之하며  敎子惡而鞭之하여 (청부악이행지하며 교자악이편지하여)

  Yet, listening to evil from one′s father and practicing it,

   and teaching evil to one′s son while whipping him forward[to do it]. 

連續轉惡也니 可領大禍니라. (연속전악야니 가령대화니라.)

  Continuously rolls deeper into evil;

  thus,[one] will surely suffer a great calamity. 

  [Explanation, 풀이]

바닷가에 게가 자신은 옆으로 걸으면서 새끼보고 바로 걸으라 하는 것은
우습기는 하지만 어버이 된 자의 마음이 원래 그러한 것이니 이 같은 일을 누가 탓할 수 있겠는가?

  Although it is comical for a crab on the seasnore to walk sideways while telling

  its offspring to walk straight, who can blame it,

  given that such is the natural heart of a parent?

그러나 자신의 악함을 자식에게 가르침은 스스로 인간이기를 포기함과도 같다.

  However, teaching one′s own wickedness to one′s child is tantamount to renouncing 

  one′s own humanity.
