1. 바리새인들과 또 서기관 중 몇이 예루살렘에서 와서 예수께 모여들었다가
2. 그의 제자 중 몇 사람이 부정한 손 곧 씻지 아니한 손으로 떡 먹는 것을 보았더라
3. （바리새인들과 모든 유대인들은 장로들의 전통을 지키어 손을 잘 씻지 않고서는 음식을 먹지 아니하며
4. 또 시장에서 돌아와서도 물을 뿌리지 않고서는 먹지 아니하며 그 외에도 여러 가지를 지키어 오는 것이 있으니 잔과 주발과 놋그릇을 씻음이러라）
5. 이에 바리새인들과 서기관들이 예수께 묻되 어찌하여 당신의 제자들은 장로들의 전통을 준행하지 아니하고 부정한 손으로 떡을 먹나이까
6. 이르시되 이사야가 너희 외식하는 자에 대하여 잘 예언하였도다 기록하였으되 이 백성이 입술로는 나를 공경하되 마음은 내게서 멀도다
7. 사람의 계명으로 교훈을 삼아 가르치니 나를 헛되이 경배하는도다 하였느니라
8. 너희가 하나님의 계명은 버리고 사람의 전통을 지키느니라
9. 또 이르시되 너희가 너희 전통을 지키려고 하나님의 계명을 잘 저버리는도다
10. 모세는 네 부모를 공경하라 하고 또 아버지나 어머니를 모욕하는 자는 죽임을 당하리라 하였거늘
11. 너희는 이르되 사람이 아버지에게나 어머니에게나 말하기를 내가 드려 유익하게 할 것이 고르반 곧 하나님께 드림이 되었다고 하기만 하면 그만이라 하고
12. 자기 아버지나 어머니에게 다시 아무 것도 하여 드리기를 허락하지 아니하여
13. 너희가 전한 전통으로 하나님의 말씀을 폐하며 또 이같은 일을 많이 행하느니라 하시고
14. 무리를 다시 불러 이르시되 너희는 다 내 말을 듣고 깨달으라
15. 무엇이든지 밖에서 사람에게로 들어가는 것은 능히 사람을 더럽게 하지 못하되
16. 사람 안에서 나오는 것이 사람을 더럽게 하는 것이니라 하시고
17. 무리를 떠나 집으로 들어가시니 제자들이 그 비유를 묻자온대
18. 예수께서 이르시되 너희도 이렇게 깨달음이 없느냐 무엇이든지 밖에서 들어가는 것이 능히 사람을 더럽게 하지 못함을 알지 못하느냐
19. 이는 마음으로 들어가지 아니하고 배로 들어가 뒤로 나감이라 이러므로 모든 음식물을 깨끗하다 하시니라
20. 또 이르시되 사람에게서 나오는 그것이 사람을 더럽게 하느니라
21. 속에서 곧 사람의 마음에서 나오는 것은 악한 생각 곧 음란과 도둑질과 살인과
22. 간음과 탐욕과 악독과 속임과 음탕과 질투와 비방과 교만과 우매함이니
23. 이 모든 악한 것이 다 속에서 나와서 사람을 더럽게 하느니라

1. The Pharisees and some of the teachers of the law who had come from Jerusalem gathered around Jesus and
2. saw some of his disciples eating food with hands that were "unclean," that is, unwashed.
3. (The Pharisees and all the Jews do not eat unless they give their hands a ceremonial washing, holding to the tradition of the elders.
4. When they come from the marketplace they do not eat unless they wash. And they observe many other traditions, such as the washing of cups, pitchers and kettles.)
5. So the Pharisees and teachers of the law asked Jesus, "Why don't your disciples live according to the tradition of the elders instead of eating their food with 'unclean' hands?"
6. He replied, "Isaiah was right when he prophesied about you hypocrites; as it is written: " 'These people honor me with their lips, but their hearts are far from me.
7. They worship me in vain; their teachings are but rules taught by men.'
8. You have let go of the commands of God and are holding on to the traditions of men."
9. And he said to them: "You have a fine way of setting aside the commands of God in order to observe your own traditions!
10. For Moses said, 'Honor your father and your mother,' and, 'Anyone who curses his father or mother must be put to death.'
11. But you say that if a man says to his father or mother: 'Whatever help you might otherwise have received from me is Corban' (that is, a gift devoted to God),
12. then you no longer let him do anything for his father or mother.
13. Thus you nullify the word of God by your tradition that you have handed down. And you do many things like that."
14. Again Jesus called the crowd to him and said, "Listen to me, everyone, and understand this.
15. Nothing outside a man can make him 'unclean' by going into him. Rather, it is what comes out of a man that makes him 'unclean.' "

17. After he had left the crowd and entered the house, his disciples asked him about this parable.
18. "Are you so dull?" he asked. "Don't you see that nothing that enters a man from the outside can make him 'unclean'?
19. For it doesn't go into his heart but into his stomach, and then out of his body." (In saying this, Jesus declared all foods "clean.")
20. He went on: "What comes out of a man is what makes him 'unclean.'
21. For from within, out of men's hearts, come evil thoughts, sexual immorality, theft, murder, adultery,
22. greed, malice, deceit, lewdness, envy, slander, arrogance and folly.
23. All these evils come from inside and make a man 'unclean.' "

1. 바리새파 사람들과 예루살렘에서 내려온 율법학자 몇 사람이 예수께로 몰려왔다.
2. 그들은 예수의 제자들 가운데 몇 사람이 부정한 손 곧 씻지 않은 손으로 빵을 먹는 것을 보았다.
3. -바리새파 사람과 모든 유대 사람은 장로들의 전통을 지켜, 규례대로 손을 씻지 않고서는 음식을 먹지 않았으며,
4. 또 시장에서 돌아오면, 몸을 정결하게 하지 않고서는 먹지 않았다. 그 밖에도 그들이 전해 받아 지키는 규례가 많이 있었는데, 그것은 곧 잔이나 단지나 놋그릇이나 침대를 씻는 일이다.-
5. 그래서 바리새파 사람들과 율법학자들이 예수께 물었다. "왜 당신의 제자들은 장로들이 전하여 준 전통을 따르지 않고, 부정한 손으로 음식을 먹습니까?"
6. 예수께서 그들에게 대답하셨다. "이사야가 너희 같은 위선자들을 두고 적절히 예언하였다. 이렇게 기록되어 있다. '이 백성은 입술로는 나를 공경해도, 마음은 내게서 멀리 떠나 있다.
7. 그들은 사람의 훈계를 교리로 가르치며, 나를 헛되이 예배한다.'
8. 너희는 하나님의 계명을 버리고, 사람의 전통을 지키고 있다."
9. 또 그들에게 말씀하셨다. "너희는 너희의 전통을 지키려고 하나님의 계명을 잘도 저버린다.
10. 모세가 말하기를 '네 아버지와 네 어머니를 공경하여라' 하고, 또 '아버지나 어머니를 욕하는 자는 반드시 죽을 것이다' 하였다.
11. 그러나 너희는 말한다. 누구든지 아버지나 어머니에게 말하기를 '내게서 받으실 것이 고르반（곧 하나님께 드리는 예물）이 되었습니다' 하고 말만 하면 그만이라고 말한다.
12. 그러면서 아버지나 어머니에게 그 이상 아무것도 해 드리지 못하게 한다.
13. 너희는 너희가 물려받은 전통을 가지고, 하나님의 말씀을 헛되게 하며, 또 이와 같은 일을 많이 한다."
14. 예수께서 다시 무리를 가까이 부르시고서, 그들에게 말씀하셨다. "너희는 모두 내 말을 듣고 깨달아라.
15. 무엇이든지 사람 밖에서 사람 안으로 들어가는 것으로서 그 사람을 더럽히는 것은 아무것도 없다.
16. 사람에게서 나오는 것이 그 사람을 더럽힌다."
17. 예수께서 무리를 떠나 집으로 들어가셨을 때에, 제자들이 그 비유를 두고 물었다.
18. 예수께서 그들에게 말씀하셨다. "너희도 아직 깨닫지 못하느냐? 밖에서 사람의 몸 속으로 들어가는 것이 사람을 더럽히지 못한다는 것을 알지 못하느냐?
19. 밖에서 사람 안으로 들어가는 것은 무엇이든지, 사람의 마음 속으로 들어가지 않고, 뱃속으로 들어가서 뒤로 나가기 때문이다." 예수께서는 이런 말씀을 하여 모든 음식은 깨끗하다고 하셨다.
20. 또 그들에게 말씀하셨다. "사람에게서 나오는 것, 그것이 사람을 더럽힌다.
21. 나쁜 생각은 사람의 마음에서 나오는데, 곧 음행과 도둑질과 살인과
22. 간음과 탐욕과 악의와 사기와 방탕과 악한 시선과 모독과 교만과 어리석음이다.
23. 이런 악한 것이 모두 속에서 나와서 사람을 더럽힌다."

1. Then came together unto him the Pharisees, and certain of the scribes, which came from Jerusalem.
2. And when they saw some of his disciples eat bread with defiled, that is to say, with unwashen, hands, they found fault.
3. For the Pharisees, and all the Jews, except they wash their hands oft, eat not, holding the tradition of the elders.
4. And when they come from the market, except they wash, they eat not. And many other things there be, which they have received to hold, as the washing of cups, and pots, brasen vessels, and of tables.
5. Then the Pharisees and scribes asked him, Why walk not thy disciples according to the tradition of the elders, but eat bread with unwashen hands?
6. He answered and said unto them, Well hath Esaias prophesied of you hypocrites, as it is written, This people honoureth me with their lips, but their heart is far from me.
7. Howbeit in vain do they worship me, teaching for doctrines the commandments of men.
8. For laying aside the commandment of God, ye hold the tradition of men, as the washing of pots and cups: and many other such like things ye do.
9. And he said unto them, Full well ye reject the commandment of God, that ye may keep your own tradition.
10. For Moses said, Honour thy father and thy mother; and, Whoso curseth father or mother, let him die the death:
11. But ye say, If a man shall say to his father or mother, It is Corban, that is to say, a gift, by whatsoever thou mightest be profited by me; he shall be free.
12. And ye suffer him no more to do ought for his father or his mother;
13. Making the word of God of none effect through your tradition, which ye have delivered: and many such like things do ye.
14. And when he had called all the people unto him, he said unto them, Hearken unto me every one of you, and understand:
15. There is nothing from without a man, that entering into him can defile him: but the things which come out of him, those are they that defile the man.
16. If any man have ears to hear, let him hear.
17. And when he was entered into the house from the people, his disciples asked him concerning the parable.
18. And he saith unto them, Are ye so without understanding also? Do ye not perceive, that whatsoever thing from without entereth into the man, it cannot defile him;
19. Because it entereth not into his heart, but into the belly, and goeth out into the draught, purging all meats?
20. And he said, That which cometh out of the man, that defileth the man.
21. For from within, out of the heart of men, proceed evil thoughts, adulteries, fornications, murders,
22. Thefts, covetousness, wickedness, deceit, lasciviousness, an evil eye, blasphemy, pride, foolishness:
23. All these evil things come from within, and defile the man.

1. 예루살렘에서 온 바리새파 사람들과 몇몇 율법학자들이 예수님 주변에 모여 있다가
2. 제자 가운데 몇 사람이 손을 씻지 않고 음식 먹는 것을 보았다.
3. (바리새파 사람들과 유대인들은 원래 조상들이 지켜 온 전통에 따라 먼저 손을 씻지 않으면 음식을 먹지 않았고
4. 또 시장에서 돌아왔을 때에도 몸을 깨끗이 하지 않으면 음식을 먹지 않았다. 그 밖에도 잔이나 단지나 놋그릇을 씻는 등 지켜야 할 일들이 많았다.)
5. 그래서 바리새파 사람들과 율법학자들이 예수님께 '왜 당신의 제자들은 조상들의 전통을 어기고 씻지 않은 손으로 음식을 먹습니까?' 하고 물었다.
6. 그러자 예수님이 대답하셨다. '바로 너희와 같은 위선자들을 두고 이사야가 다음과 같이 잘 예언하였다. '이 백성이 입술로는 나를 존경하나 마음은 내게서 멀리 떠나 있다.
7. 그들은 사람이 만든 법을 마치 내 교훈인 것처럼 가르치고 있으니 나를 헛되이 예배하고 있다.'
8. 너희는 하나님의 계명은 버리고 사람의 전통만 내세우고 있다.'
9. 예수님은 다시 말씀하셨다. '너희는 전통을 지키려고 하나님의 계명을 저버렸다.
10. 모세는 '네 부모를 공경하라.' 하였고 또 '부모를 저주하는 사람은 반드시 죽여야 한다.'고 하였다.
11. 그런데 너희는 부모에게 드려야 할 것을 '고르반', 곧 '하나님께 예물로 드렸습니다.' 하고 말하기만 하면
12. 그만이라고 하여 부모에게 아무것도 해 줄 필요가 없다고 가르친다.
13. 너희는 그런 전통으로 하나님의 말씀을 헛되게 하였으며 이 밖에도 그와 같은 짓을 많이 하고 있다.'
14. 예수님은 군중들을 다시 불러모으고 이렇게 말씀하셨다. '내 말을 잘 듣고 깨달아라.
15. 밖에서 사람에게 들어가는 것이 사람을 더럽히는 것이 아니라 사람에게서 나오는 것이 사람을 더럽힌다.'

17. 예수님이 군중을 떠나 집에 들어가셨을 때 제자들이 그 비유의 뜻을 물었다.
18. 그래서 예수님이 그들에게 말씀하셨다. '너희도 아직 깨닫지 못하느냐? 밖에서 들어가는 것은 아무것도 사람을 더럽힐 수 없다는 것을 모르느냐?
19. 그것은 사람의 마음에 들어가지 않고 뱃속을 거쳐 몸 밖으로 빠져나가기 때문이다.' (그렇게 해서 예수님은 모든 음식을 깨끗하다고 선언하셨다.)
20. 그리고서 예수님은 말씀을 계속하셨다. '사람의 마음 속에서 나오는 것이 사람을 더럽힌다.
21. 거기서부터 악한 생각, 음란, 도둑질, 살인,
22. 간음, 지나친 욕심, 악독, 속임수, 방탕, 시기, 중상 모략, 교만, 어리석음이 나온다.
23. 이런 것들이 다 속에서 나와 사람을 더럽힌다.'

1. The Pharisees and some of the scribes gathered around Him when they had come from Jerusalem,
2. and had seen that some of His disciples were eating their bread with impure hands, that is, unwashed.
3. (For the Pharisees and all the Jews do not eat unless they carefully wash their hands, thus observing the traditions of the elders;
4. and when they come from the market place, they do not eat unless they cleanse themselves; and there are many other things which they have received in order to observe, such as the washing of cups and pitchers and copper pots.)
5. The Pharisees and the scribes asked Him, "Why do Your disciples not walk according to the tradition of the elders, but eat their bread with impure hands?"
6. And He said to them, "Rightly did Isaiah prophesy of you hypocrites, as it is written: 'THIS PEOPLE HONORS ME WITH THEIR LIPS, BUT THEIR HEART IS FAR AWAY FROM ME.
7. 'BUT IN VAIN DO THEY WORSHIP ME, TEACHING AS DOCTRINES THE PRECEPTS OF MEN.'
8. "Neglecting the commandment of God, you hold to the tradition of men."
9. He was also saying to them, "You are experts at setting aside the commandment of God in order to keep your tradition.
10. "For Moses said, 'HONOR YOUR FATHER AND YOUR MOTHER'; and, 'HE WHO SPEAKS EVIL OF FATHER OR MOTHER, IS TO BE PUT TO DEATH';
11. but you say, 'If a man says to his father or his mother, whatever I have that would help you is Corban (that is to say, given to God),'
12. you no longer permit him to do anything for his father or his mother;
13. thus invalidating the word of God by your tradition which you have handed down; and you do many things such as that."
14. After He called the crowd to Him again, He began saying to them, "Listen to Me, all of you, and understand:
15. there is nothing outside the man which can defile him if it goes into him; but the things which proceed out of the man are what defile the man.
16. ["If anyone has ears to hear, let him hear."]
17. When he had left the crowd and entered the house, His disciples questioned Him about the parable.
18. And He said to them, "Are you so lacking in understanding also? Do you not understand that whatever goes into the man from outside cannot defile him,
19. because it does not go into his heart, but into his stomach, and is eliminated?" (Thus He declared all foods clean.)
20. And He was saying, "That which proceeds out of the man, that is what defiles the man.
21. "For from within, out of the heart of men, proceed the evil thoughts, fornications, thefts, murders, adulteries,
22. deeds of coveting and wickedness, as well as deceit, sensuality, envy, slander, pride and foolishness.
23. "All these evil things proceed from within and defile the man."
