The British military says 

it is investigating after a private yacht

reported being fired at 

by a Russian warship

outside UK territorial waters.

Russia’s Defense Ministry

says their crew tried to contact the yacht

when it was seen sailing

on, what they say

was, a dangerous course near the ship,

launching flares and issuing sound signals,

and says when the yacht did not respond,

their crew then fired warning shots 

with small arms. 

The yacht then changed course

and sailed away.

BBC reported that the yacht

which has no motor

had drifted towards the Russian vessel

in foggy conditions.

No damage or injuries were reported.
