안티오코스가 유다인들을 박해하다

Attack and Occupation

29  이태 뒤 임금이 유다의 성읍들에 조공 징수관을 파견하니, 그자가 강력한 군대를 이끌로 예루살렘에 들어왔다.

      Two years later, the king sent the Mysian commander to the cities of Judah, and he came to Jerusalem with a strong force.

30  그가 평화로운 말로 주민들을 속이자 그들은 그를 믿었다. 그러나 그는 갑자기 그 도성을 습격하여 큰 타격을 입히고 이스라엘 백성을 많이 죽였다.

      He spoke to them deceitfully in peaceful terms, and they believed him. Then he attacked the city suddenly, in a great onslaught, and destroyed many of the people in Israel.

31  또한 이 도성을 약탈한 다음 불을 지르고 집들과 주위의 성벽을 허물었다.

      He plundered the city and set fire to it, demolished its houses and its surrounding walls.

32  그의 군대는 또 여자들과 아이들을 포로로 잡고 가축을 빼앗았다.

      And they took captive the women and children, and seized the animals.

33  그러고 나서 그들은 튼튼한 성벽을 높이 쌓고 견고한 탑을 세워 다윗 성을 재건하고, 자기들의 성채로 삼았다.

      Then they built up the City of David with a high, strong wall and strong towers, and it became their citadel.

34  그리고 죄 많은 족속과 변절자들을 그 안에 배치시켰다. 이들은 거기에 굳게 자리 잡은 뒤,

      There they installed a sinful race, transgressors of the law, who fortified themselves inside it. 

35  무기와 양식을 저장하고 예루살렘에서 거둔 전리품을 쌓아 두었다. 그리하여 그들은 큰 위협이 되었다.

      They stored up weapons and provisions, depositing there the plunder they had collected from Jerusalem, and they became a great snare. 

36  그곳은 성소를 위협하는 복병이 되고 이스라엘을 늘 괴롭히는 흉악한 원수가 되었다.

      The citadel became an ambush against the sanctuary, and a wicked adversary to Israel at all times.

37  그들은 성소 둘레에서 무고한 피를 흘려 성소를 더럽혔다.

      They shed innocent blood around the sanctuary; they defiled the sanctuary.

38 그들 때문에 예루살렘의 주민들이 달아나 예루살렘이 이민족들의 거처가 되고 제고장 사람들에게 낯선 곳이 되어 버렸다. 예루살렘의 자녀들이 제 땅을 버리고 떠나갔다.

     Because of them the inhabitants of Jerusalem fled away, she became the abode of strangers. She became a stranger to her own offspring, and her children forsook her. 

39  예루살렘 성소는 광야처럼 황폐해지고 축제일은 슬픔으로 변하였으며 안식은 조롱거리가 되고 그 명예는 치욕이 되어 버렸다.

      Her sanctuary became desolate as a wilderness; her feasts were turned into mourning, Her sabbaths to shame, her honor to contempt.

40  그 수치는 이제 지난날의 영광만큼이나 커지고 그 고고함은 슬픔으로 바뀌었다.

      As her golry had been, so great was her dishonor, her exaltation was turned into mourrning.
