천성경 (증) - 157. 가정맹세 1절

17 가정맹세 첫째 번은 ‘천일국 주인 우리 가정은 참사랑을 중심하고 본향 땅을 찾아 본연의 창조이상인 지상천국과 천상천국을 창건할 것을 맹세하나이다.’입니다. 가정맹세를 할 수 있다는 것이 역사상 얼마나 좋은 복음 중의 복음인지 모릅니다. 여기서 창조이상은 하나님을 중심삼은 창조이상을 말합니다. 지상천국과 천상천국을 만드는 것이 하나님의 창조이상이었습니다. 그런데 타락으로 인해 그것을 이루지 못했으니 복귀해야 됩니다. 본향 땅을 중심삼고 창조이상인 지상천국과 천상천국을 창건해야 한다는 뜻입니다.

18 참사랑은 몸 마음이 하나되고, 부부끼리 하나되고, 자녀와 하나되는 기준 위에서 펼쳐지는 사랑입니다. 이런 기준의 참사랑을 실천하지 못하고 여러분이 영계에 가게 되면 틀림없이 걸려듭니다. 가정맹세가 그렇게 무서운 것입니다. 언제나 가정맹세를 따라 살아야 됩니다. 만일 여러분의 가정에서 아버지가 맹세문의 어느 한 가지에라도 걸리게 되면 어머니도 공동으로 책임을 지게 되고, 자식들의 공동책임도 되는 것이며, 가족 모두가 공동으로 책임을 지지 않을 수 없게 됩니다. 해와가 타락함으로써 아담 가정 전체가 타락한 결과를 초래한 그런 의미를 지닌다는 것입니다.

19 ‘우리 가정은 참사랑을 중심하고’라는 말은, 인간이 타락했기 때문에 참사랑을 갖지 못한 사람은 가정이라는 것을 갖출 수 없다는 의미입니다. 참사랑을 갖지 못한 사람은 본래 하나님 앞에 가정을 갖지 못하게 되어 있습니다. 참사랑은 하나님과 관계를 맺은 사랑입니다. 자기라든가 세상의 습관성, 풍습, 국민의 전통과 같은 것과 관계를 맺은 사랑이 아닙니다. 하나님과만 관계를 맺은 사랑입니다. 타락했기 때문에 사탄 사랑과 관계를 맺게 된 것입니다. 사탄의 가정을 넘어서 종족·민족·국가·세계, 지상세계·천상세계까지 확대되어 있다는 것입니다. 하나님의 사랑에 접하기 위해서는 자기의 사랑이라는 습관성, 사랑이라는 전통을 완전히 부정해야 됩니다.

20 참사랑은 자기 생명까지도 투입하고 또 투입하겠다고 하는 자리, 주고 또 주고 잊어버릴 수 있는 자리에서만 시작됩니다. 참사랑은 천지를 꿰뚫는 것입니다. 죽음의 세계도 뚫고 올라갑니다. 어디든지 뚫고 갑니다. 사랑이 통하지 않는 곳이 없습니다. 사랑은 비밀의 방도 통합니다.

21 본향이라는 곳은 가고 싶고, 보고 싶고, 살고 싶은 곳입니다. 우리의 마음이 가고 싶고 마음과 더불어 몸이 가고 싶은 곳입니다. 마음이 그리워함과 동시에 몸도 그리워하는, 영원히 안식할 수 있고 행복의 터전이라고 자랑할 수 있는 본향을 우리는 찾아가야 됩니다. 그렇기 때문에 지금까지 역사과정에서 수많은 사람들이 이런 본향을 그리워하고 추구하고 흠모하다가 죽어 갔습니다. 또한 수많은 종교인들이나 철인들도 이 본향 땅을 찾기 위해 지금까지 수고하고 있는 것입니다. 그러므로 본향 땅이 기필코 나타나야 됩니다.

22 본연의 동산은 이상동산입니다. 유무상통하는 세계요, 형제의 감정이 만우주 어느 곳이든지 통할 수 있는 세계입니다. 오늘날과 같이 민족적인 감정, 혹은 국가의 어떤 주권적 차이를 가지고 논의할 수 있는 이상과 주의의 세계가 아닙니다. 민족의 차별, 혹은 국가의 주권 등 그러한 모든 것을 넘어서서 논의하는 세계, 인간의 경제적인 사정이라든가 문화와 같은 조건의 차이를 가지고 논의하는 것이 아니라 심정을 가지고 논의하는 세계입니다.

23 원래 인간시조가 타락하지 않았으면 본향은 아담과 해와가 살던 에덴동산이요, 그 마을이요, 그 산천임에 틀림없습니다. 오늘날 타락한 부모의 혈통을 받고 태어난 인간은 ‘본향’이라고 하면 자기들이 태어난 곳을 생각하는데, 인류가 추구하고 그리워하고 있는 이상적인 본향이라는 것은 너무나 헛된 것입니다. 오늘날 통일교회는 잃어버린 본향을 찾아 나가야 합니다. 그 본향에는 부모님이 계시고, 형제가 있고, 친척이 있습니다. 그들이 슬픔 가운데서 우리를 맞아 주는 것이 아니라 영원한 기쁨과 행복 가운데서 우리를 맞아 줄 수 있는 곳, 그리고 그 기쁨이 일시적인 기쁨으로 끝나는 것이 아니라 영원히 계속될 수 있는 그 본연의 곳을 찾아가야 됩니다.

24 우리가 본향 땅을 그리워하는 것은, 그곳에는 누구보다 가까운 부모와 형제와 친척이 있어서 언제나 나를 이끌어 주고, 언제 어느 때 찾아가더라도 나를 한결같이 맞아 주고, 내가 어려움을 당하면 그 사정을 동정하며 위로해 주고, 나를 기쁘게 맞아 줄 수 있기 때문입니다. 만일 그것이 없다면 본향이 그립고 좋아서 찾아가더라도 간절히 사모하던 당시의 심정은 없어지고 도리어 탄식의 조건들을 가지고 돌아오게 된다는 것입니다. 본향 땅에는 반드시 맞아 줄 사람이 있어야 합니다.

25 하나님이 이 땅 위에 착지해 가정을 가지고 생활할 수 있는 곳이 있다고 할 때는, 그곳은 인류 전체를 대표한 자리가 되기 때문에 하나님이 생활을 출발한 그 가정 기지가 인류의 본향 땅이 됩니다. 그렇기 때문에 하나님이 사는 근본 출발지가 고향이 됩니다. 인간은 타락했기 때문에 하나님을 중심삼고 그곳에서 출발하지 못했습니다. 가정이 그런 자리가 못 되었습니다. 그런 고향이 없습니다. 비로소 선생님이 나와 참사랑을 중심삼고 하나님과 참부모가 하나되어 착지해서 출발할 수 있는 기원을 마련한 것입니다. 그곳이 인류의 본향 땅이 될 수밖에 없습니다. 복귀는 되었지만 그 복귀된 것이 본연의 형태의 출발 기지와 같기 때문에, 그곳이 하나님의 사랑을 나눌 수 있고 참사랑의 기지로서 출발하려던 곳이기 때문에 인류의 본향 땅이 되는 것입니다.

26 하나님이 원하는 조국이 어디이고, 인류의 본향이 어디인가? 참부모님이 태어나신 고향이 역사적이요 우주적이요 세계적인 본향 땅이 됩니다. 조상과 사상과 전통을 이어받아야 됩니다. 그러지 않으면 의붓자식 취급을 받습니다. 한국 백성은 선민이 되어야 합니다. 그러기 위해서 선생님은 안팎을 뒤집어 놓아야 합니다. 한국이 본향이고 조국이라면 모든 세계적인 문명이 한국에서 이루어져야 합니다. 우리가 한국을 본향으로 만들기 위해서는 충성·정성·사랑·희생의 제물이 될 것을 각오해야 됩니다. 그러지 않으면 한국은 본향으로서의 자격을 잃게 됩니다. 좋은 것을 만들기 위해서는 실천이 필요합니다. 피와 땀과 눈물을 흘리면서라도 이루어야 합니다.

27 가정맹세 제1절은 만물복귀입니다. 잃어버린 모든 것을 탕감복귀하지 않으면 안 됩니다. 지금까지 종교는 출가를 요구하고 독신생활을 요구했지만, 통일교회에서 처음으로 환고향을 명령한 것입니다. 환국입니다. 세계적으로 엄청난 일이 벌어진 것입니다. 종교계에 이 이상의 행복은 없습니다.

28 본향 땅을 찾아 그다음에는 지상천국과 천상천국을 창건해야 됩니다. 내가 창조를 해야 됩니다. 잃어버렸으니 전부 만들어 놓아야 됩니다. 도둑맞았으니 다시 찾아 만들어 놓으라는 것입니다. 천년만년 가더라도 하라는 것입니다. 그래서 통일교회는 환고향을 말한 것입니다.

29 본연의 창조이상인 지상천국과 천상천국을 내가 만들어야 됩니다. 가정을 잃어버렸기 때문에 우리 가정이 만들어야 됩니다. 그래서 우리 가정은 참사랑으로 본향 땅을 중심삼고 본연의 창조이상인 지상천국과 천상천국을 창건한다는 것입니다. 본향 땅은 가정을 중심한 본향 땅입니다. 나라가 아닙니다. 그래서 고향에 돌아가야 된다는 말입니다. 그런 가정이 있으면 고향 땅으로 돌아가서 지상천국과 천상천국을 이루어야 합니다. 이제 고향만 찾으면 자연히 나라, 세계 전부가 하나되는 것입니다. 걱정할 필요 없습니다. 지상천국 천상천국이 자연히 이뤄집니다. 가정에서 벌어지는 것입니다.

30 ‘본연의 창조이상인 지상천국과 천상천국을 창건할 것을 맹세하나이다.’ 여기에서 창건이라는 말을 썼습니다. 이것은 우리가 다시 만들어야 된다는 것입니다. 그냥 되는 것이 아닙니다. 재창조해야 됩니다. 지상지옥이 되어 있고 천상지옥이 되어 있으니만큼, 이것을 우리가 다시 창조해야 되는 것입니다. 나 개인에서 지상천국·천상천국이 되는 것이 가정입니다. 가정에서 만들어야 되니 가정맹세입니다. 이것을 못 만들면 안 됩니다. 우리가 만들어야 됩니다.

天聖経 (增) - 157. 「家庭盟誓」の第一節

17 「家庭盟誓」の第一節は、「天一国主人、私たちの家庭は真の愛を中心として、本郷の地を求め、本然の創造理想である地上天国と天上天国を創建するこ とをお誓い致します」です。「家庭盟誓」を唱えられるということが、歴史上どれほど良い福音の中の福音か分かりません。ここにおいて創造理想とは、神様を 中心とした創造理想を意味します。地上天国と天上天国をつくることが神様の創造理想でした。ところが、堕落によってそれを成し遂げることができなかったの で、復帰しなければなりません。本郷の地を中心として、創造理想である地上天国と天上天国を創建しなければならないという意味です。

18　真の愛は、体と心が一つになり、夫婦同士が一つになり、子女と一つになる基準の上で広がる愛です。このような基準の真の愛を実践できずに皆さんが霊 界に行くようになれば、間違いなく引っ掛かります。「家庭盟誓」は、そのように恐ろしいものです。常に「家庭盟誓」に従って生きなければなりません。もし 皆さんの家庭で、父親が「家庭盟誓」のどれか一つにでも引っ掛かれば、母親も共同で責任を負うようになり、子女たちの共同責任にもなり、家族全員が共同で 責任を負わざるを得なくなるのです。エバが堕落することによって、アダム家庭全体が堕落した結果を招いた、そのような意味をもつというのです。

19　「私たちの家庭は真の愛を中心として」という言葉は、人間が堕落したために、真の愛をもてなかった人は家庭をもつことができないという意味です。真 の愛をもてなかった人は、本来、神様のみ前に家庭をもてないようになっているのです。真の愛は、神様と関係を結んだ愛です。自分や世の中の習慣性、風習、 国民の伝統のようなものと関係を結んだ愛ではありません。神様とだけ関係を結んだ愛です。堕落したために、サタンの愛と関係を結ぶようになったのです。サ タンの家庭を越えて、氏族、民族、国家、世界、地上世界、天上世界まで拡大されているのです。神様の愛に接するためには、自分の愛という習慣性や伝統を完 全に否定しなければなりません。

20　真の愛は、自らの生命までも投入し、また投入しようという立場、与えて、また与えて忘れてしまうことができる立場から始まります。真の愛は天地を貫 くのです。死の世界も貫いて上がっていきます。どこであっても貫いていくのです。愛は通じない所がありません。愛は、秘密の部屋にも通じるのです。

21　本郷という所は、行きたいと思い、見たいと思い、暮らしたいと思う所です。私たちの心が行きたいと思い、心とともに体が行きたいと思う所です。心が 慕うと同時に体も慕う、永遠に安息でき、幸福の基台であると誇れる本郷を、私たちは訪ねていかなければなりません。そのため、今までの歴史過程において、 数多くの人々がこのような本郷を慕い、追求し、欽慕しながら死んでいきました。また数多くの宗教者や哲人も、この本郷の地を探すために今まで苦労してきて いるのです。ですから、本郷の地は必ず現れなければなりません。

22　本然の園は、理想の園です。有無相通ずる世界であり、兄弟の感情が万宇宙のどこにおいても通じる世界です。今日のように民族的な感情、あるいは国家 の主権的な違いをもって論議できるような理想や主義の世界ではありません。民族の差別、あるいは国家の主権など、そのようなすべてのものを越えて論議する 世界、人間の経済的な事情や文化のような条件の違いをもって論議するのではなく、心情をもって論議する世界です。

23　本来、人間始祖が堕落していなければ、本郷とはアダムとエバが暮らしたエデンの園であり、その村であり、その山河であることは間違いありません。今 日、堕落した父母の血統を受けて生まれた人間は、「本郷」と言えば、自分たちが生まれた所を考えるのですが、そこを人類が追求し、慕っている理想的な本郷 と言うには、あまりにもむなしいのです。
 今日の統一教会は、失ってしまった本郷を探し求めていかなければなりません。その本郷には父母がいらっしゃり、兄弟がいて、親戚がいます。彼らが悲しみの 中で私たちを迎えるのではなく、永遠の喜びと幸福の中で私たちを迎えてくれる場所、そして、その喜びが一時的な喜びで終わるのではなく、永遠に続く、その 本然の場所を訪ねていかなければなりません。

24　私たちが本郷の地を慕うのは、そこには、誰よりも近い父母と兄弟と親戚がいて、いつでも私を導いてくれ、いつ、どのようなときに訪ねていっても、私 を変わりなく迎えてくれ、私が困難に遭えば、その事情に同情しながら慰めてくれ、私を喜んで迎えてくれるからです。もしそれがなければ、本郷が懐かしくて 喜んで訪ねていったとしても、切実に思い、慕った当時の心情はなくなり、かえって嘆息の条件をもって戻ってくるようになるというのです。本郷の地には、必 ず迎えてくれる人がいなければなりません。

25　神様がこの地上に着地して家庭をもち、生活できる所があるというとき、そこは人類全体を代表した位置になるので、神様が生活を出発したその家庭基地 が、人類の本郷の地になるのです。ですから、神様が暮らす根本の出発地が故郷になります。人間は、堕落したために、神様を中心として、そこから出発できま せんでした。家庭がそのような場になれなかったのです。そのような故郷がありません。先生が出てきて、真の愛を中心として神様と真の父母が一つになって着 地し、出発できる起源を整えたのです。そこが人類の本郷の地にならざるを得ません。その復帰された所が、本然の形態の出発基地と同じであり、そこが神様の 愛を分かつことができ、真の愛の基地として出発しようとした所なので、人類の本郷の地になるのです。

26　神様が願う祖国はどこであり、人類の本郷はどこでしょうか。真の父母様がお生まれになった故郷が、歴史的で、宇宙的で、世界的な本郷の地になるので す。先祖の思想と伝統を受け継がなければなりません。そうでなければ、腹違いの子としての扱いを受けるのです。韓国の民は、選民にならなければなりませ ん。そのためには、先生が内外をひっくり返しておかなければなりません。韓国が本郷であり、祖国ならば、すべての世界的な文明が韓国で結実しなければなら ないのです。私たちが韓国を本郷にするためには、忠誠、精誠、愛、犠牲の祭物になることを覚悟しなければなりません。そのようにしなければ、韓国は本郷と しての資格を失うことになります。良い物をつくるためには実践が必要です。血と汗と涙を流しながらもそれを成し遂げなければなりません。

27　「家庭盟誓」の第一節は、本然の万物主管です。失ってしまったすべてのものを蕩減復帰しなければなりません。今まで宗教は出家を要求し、独身生活を 要求しましたが、統一教会で初めて還故郷を命令したのです。還故国です。世界的に途方もないことが起きたのです。宗教界にとって、これ以上の幸福はありま せん。

28　本郷の地を求め、その次に地上天国と天上天国を創建しなければなりません。「私」が創造しなければならないのです。失ってしまったので、すべてつ くっておかなければなりません。どろぼうに遭ったので、再びつくっておきなさいというのです。千年、万年かかってもしなければなりません。それで、統一教 会では還故郷を唱えたのです。

29　本然の創造理想である地上天国と天上天国を、私がつくらなければなりません。家庭を失ったので、私たちの家庭がつくらなければならないのです。それ で、私たちの家庭は真の愛によって、本郷の地を中心として、本然の創造理想である地上天国と天上天国を創建するというのです。本郷の地は、家庭を中心とし た本郷の地です。国ではありません。それで、故郷に帰らなければならないのです。そのような家庭があれば、故郷の地に帰って、地上天国と天上天国を成し遂 げなければなりません。今や故郷さえ探し出せば、自然に国、世界、すべてが一つになるのです。心配する必要がありません。地上天国と天上天国が自然に完成 します。家庭から始まるのです。

30　「本然の創造理想である地上天国と天上天国を創建することをお誓い致します」、ここに「創建」という言葉を使いました。これは、私たちが再びつくら なければならないということです。何もせずに成し遂げられるのではありません。再創造しなければなりません。地上地獄になり、天上地獄になっているので、 私たちが再びこれを創造しなければならないのです。「私」個人にとって地上天国と天上天国になるのが家庭です。家庭でつくらなければならないので「家庭盟 誓」です。これをつくられなければならないのです。私たちが、つくらなければなりません。

Cheon Seong Gyeong Ⅱ - 157. The first pledge of the Family Pledge 

17. The first pledge of the Family Pledge is, "Our family, the owner of Cheon Il Guk, pledges to seek our original homeland and build the kingdom of God on earth and in heaven, the original ideal ofcreation, by centering on true love." You do not know how great it is that you are able to recite the Family Pledge ; it is the gospel of all gospels in history. Here, "the ideal of creation" refers to the ideal of creation centered on God. God's ideal of creation was to bring about the kingdom of God on earth and the kingdom of God in heaven. The Fall prevented this; hence, we now have to restore it. This means we have to build the kingdom of God on earth and the kingdom of God in heaven, which is the ideal of creation centered on the original homeland. (565-305, 20070613)  

18. True love unfolds when a person achieves oneness in mind and body, when a couple attains oneness in their marriage, and when parents and their children are one. Unless you practice this level of love, you surely will be in trouble when you go to the spirit world. The Family Pledge is that serious. You have to live in accordance with the Family Pledge, always. In your family, if the father violates even one point of the Family Pledge, the mother has to take responsibility for that along with him, and the children also have to take responsibility. The family cannot help but share the responsibility. This is the lesson we take from the fact that, because Adam did not take responsibility for Eves fall, his whole family fell. 19. The phrase, "Our family...by centering on true love" implies that because people are fallen, they ended up not having true love and unable to form true families. Originally, a person without true love cannot have a family in the presence of God. True love is that which stands in relationship to God. It is not centered on oneself, the habits of the secular world, or a people's customs and traditions. It can only be based on God. Due to the Fall, human relationships have been connected to Satan's love. This is true in the family, the tribe, the people, the nation, the world, all throughout heaven and earth. If you are to encounter God's love, you must completely deny the habits and traditions that are based on self-centered love. (274-196, 19951103) 

20. True love begins in the place where you invest everything, even your life, and then are ready to invest more. It is where you give and give again and forget how much you've given. True love penetrates heaven and earth. It pierces through even the world of death and ascends. It can penetrate and travel anywhere. There is nowhere love cannot go. Love can enter even secret places. (256-179, 19940313)  

21. The original homeland is where we all want to go, what we all want to see, and where we all want to live. It is where both our minds and our bodies want to go. Thus we must find this original homeland, for which our minds and bodies yearn. It is where we can settle for eternity. It is the foundation for our happiness, a place in which we can take pride. Throughout the course of history so many people have longed for this original homeland. They sought it and revered it, yet they passed away without seeing it. Many people of deep faith and great wisdom have made tremendous efforts to find this original  homeland, even to this day. That is why the original homeland will surely emerge. (023-074, 19690511)  

22. The original garden is the ideal garden. It is where the spirit world and the physical world connect to each other, and where the feeling of brotherhood and sisterhood reaches to every corner of the universe. It is not like today's world, where people make an issue over differences of belief or ideology and where they dispute over ethnicity and national sovereignty. It is not a world where people quarrel with one another over differences of economic circumstances or culture. Rather, it is a world where people would discuss all matters with the heart of God, which enables peoples and nations to transcend their differences. (007-038, 19590705)  

23. If our ancestors had not fallen, there is no doubt that the original hometown would have been in the Garden of Eden -- a village among the mountains and rivers where Adam and Eve lived. Today, when fallen people speak of their original hometown, they immediately think of their place of birth. They do not even think of the ideal hometown for which all humanity is seeking and longing. Even if they do, they think it is something beyond their reach, and that any effort to find it will be in vain. Today, however, the Unification Church must go out to seek and recover the lost original hometown. It is where our Heavenly Parent, our brothers and sisters, and all our relatives reside. When we get there they will welcome us, not in sadness but in eternal joy and happiness. Their joy will not be short-lived but will endure forever. We must find that original hometown. 24. We miss the hometown of our birth, where we can see our parents, siblings and relatives, who are closer to us than anyone else and who guide us and welcome us with an unchanging heart. They greet us joyfully whenever we go to see them; they sympathize with us and comfort us whenever we are in difficulty. If you were to find no one like that in the hometown of your birth, your feelings of deep yearning would dissipate. That place, which you fervently yearned for, hoping to find them, would instead give you cause for grief. When you come to the hometown of your birth, there should be people who will welcome you there. (023-080, 19690511)   

25. If God could come down to a family on earth and live with them, that family would represent all humankind. Then that place would be the starting point of God's life with human beings, the base for the original hometown of all humanity. However, because of the Fall, we failed to make it to that starting point, where God would have been at the center. The family could not become such a place. That is why there has been no original hometown. That starting point was created only after I came and established the foundation whereupon God and True Parents could settle on earth, through unity in true love. That place of settlement can become the original hometown and homeland for all humanity. Although it is restored, it has the same form as the original starting place where God wanted all people to share God's love. As the base of true love, it can become the original hometown and homeland for all humankind. (289-142, 19980101)   

26. Where is the homeland that God desires? Where is the original hometown of humankind? That historic, universal and global original hometown is the place where True Parents were born. You need to inherit these ancestors' worldview and traditions; otherwise you will be treated as stepchildren. At this time in history, the Korean people are called to become the chosen people. For this to happen, I have to turn things inside out. If Korea is truly to be the original homeland, the original fatherland, then all civilizations of the world will have to bear fruit in Korea. Further, if we are to make Korea into the original homeland, we must resolve to become offerings of loyalty, devotion, love and sacrifice. Otherwise Korea will lose the qualification to be the original homeland. It requires action to create something good. We must accomplish it, even at the cost of our blood, sweat and tears. (015-284, 19651102)  

27. The first pledge of the Family Pledge, in speaking about the original homeland, mentions the restoration of all things. We are to restore through indemnity everything that was lost in the garden of Eden. Some religions encourage their followers to leave their homes and to live celibate lives. Yet the Unification Church, unlike those religions, instructs us to return to our hometowns or to our nations. This is an amazing thing, and it is happening throughout the world. For the world of religion, there is no greater news than this. (269-105, 19950409) 

28. After finding our original homeland, our next task is to build the kingdom of God on earth and in heaven. We, each one of us, must create it. Because it was lost, we must re-create it entirely. Because it was stolen, we must reclaim it and rebuild it, even if it takes thousands of years. That is why in the  Unification Church we speak about returning to our hometowns. (288-324, 19980101)  

29. We must build God's kingdom on earth and in heaven, which is the original ideal of creation. Because the family was lost, we must form families. Then our families, with true love and based on the original homeland, should build God's kingdom on earth and in heaven. The original homeland is based on the family, not on the nation. That is why you and your families need to return to your hometowns and substantiate God's kingdom on earth and in heaven there, with your families. Once you have recovered your hometowns, your nation and the whole world will unite automatically. Do not worry. If you fulfill   this, God's kingdom on earth and in heaven will come. 30. "Our family pledges...to build the kingdom of God on earth and in heaven, the original ideal of creation." I used the word "build" with the meaning that we have to make it. It will not come about by itself ; we must create it. Since it was people who turned this world into hell on earth and in the spirit world, it is people, not God, who must re-create it and make it into the kingdom of God. The kingdom of God on earth and in heaven emerges within the individual and then must be substantiated in the family. Since we must create this kingdom in our families, our families need the Family Pledge.
