Bible Reading - Jonah 4:1~11

4:1 But Jonah was greatly displeased and became angry.

그러나 요나는 크게 불쾌하게 여기고 화가 났다.

4:2 He prayed to the LORD, 그는 여호와(주님)께 기도했다.

 "O LORD, is this not what I said when I was still at home?

오 주님, 이것에 내가 집에 머물러 있을 때 말한 것이 아닙니까?

That is why I was so quick to flee to Tarshish. 그것이 내가 다시스로 속히 도망치려고 했던 이유입니다.

I knew that you are a gracious and compassionate God, 

나는 압니다, 당신은 은혜로우시며 긍휼이 많으신 하나님이십니다. 

slow to anger and abounding in love, a God who relents(마음이 누그러지다) from sending calamity.

노하기를 더디하시고 사랑이 풍성하시며 재앙을 보내시는 것을 멈추시는 하나님이십니다. 

4:3 Now, O LORD, take away my life, for it is better for me to die than to live."

오 주님, 이제 내 생명을 취하소서, 내게 사는 것보다 죽는 것이 낫습니다.

4:4 But the LORD replied, "Have you any right to be angry?"

그러나 주님께서 "네가 화를 낼 권리가 있는가?"하고 대답하셨다.

4:5 Jonah went out and sat down at a place east of the city. 

요나는 나가서 그 도시의 동편 장소에 앉았다.

There he made himself a shelter, 거기서 그는 쉴 곳을 자신을 위해 만들고

sat in its shade 그 그늘 아래 앉아서

and waited to see what would happen to the city. 그 도시에 일어날 것을 보려고 기다렸다.

4:6 Then the LORD God provided a vine and made it grow up over Jonah to give shade for his head to ease his discomfort, and Jonah was very happy about the vine.

그때 주 하나님께서 포도 나무를 제공하셔서 그의 불편함을 덜어 주시려고 그의 머리를 위해 그늘을 주셔서 요나 위에 그것이 자라게 했고 요나는 그 포도 나무에 대해 대단히 기뻐했다.

4:7 But at dawn the next day God provided a worm, which chewed the vine so that it withered.

그러나 다음 날 새벽에 벌레 하나를 준비하셔서 그 포도 나무를 갉아 먹게 하시므로 그 포도 나무는 말라버렸다.

4:8 When the sun rose, 해가 떠올랐을 때

God provided a scorching east wind, 하나님께서 뜨거운 동풍을 불게 하셨고

and the sun blazed on Jonah's head so that he grew faint.

그리고 태양이 요나의 머리 위로 뜨겁게 내리쬐자 그는 기절했습니다.

He wanted to die, and said, "It would be better for me to die than to live."

그는 죽기를 원하여 "사는 것보다 죽는 것이 나를 위해 더 낫습니다."라고 말했다.

4:9 But God said to Jonah, 그러나 하나님께서 요나에게 말씀하셨다.

"Do you have a right to be angry about the vine?" 포도 나무에 대해 네가 화를 내는 것이 옳은가?

"I do," he said. "I am angry enough to die."  "그렇습니다. 나는 죽을 만큼 화가납니다."라고 그가 말했다.

4:10 But the LORD said, 그러나 주님께서 말씀하셨다.

"You have been concerned about this vine, 너는 이 포도 나무에 대해 걱정하고 있었다.

though you did not tend it or make it grow.

비록 네가 그것을 돌보지 않았고, 키우지도 않았지만.

 It sprang up overnight and died overnight.\

그것이 하룻밤 사이에 솟아나와 하룻밤 사이에 죽었다.

4:11 But Nineveh has more than a hundred and twenty thousand people who cannot tell their right hand from their left, and many cattle as well. 그러나 니느웨는 좌우를 분별할 수 없는 12만명 보다 더 많은 사람들을 가지고 있고 많은 가축들도 또한 그렇다.

Should I not be concerned about that great city?" 그 큰 도시에 대해 내가 걱정할 필요가 없겠느냐?
