1. 아사의 통치 제삼십육년에 이스라엘 왕 바아사가 유다를 치러 올라와서 아무도 유다 왕 아사에게로 들어가거나 나오지 못하게 할 목적으로 라마를 건축하였더라.

In the six and thirtieth year of the reign of Asa Baasha king of Israel came up against Judah, and built Ramah, to the intent that he might let none go out or come in to Asa king of Judah.

2. 이에 아사가 {주}의 집의 보고와 왕의 집의 보고에서 은과 금을 가져다가 다마스커스에 거하던 시리아 왕 벤하닷에게 보내며 이르되,

Then Asa brought out silver and gold out of the treasures of the house of the LORD and of the kings house, and sent to Benhadad king of Syria, that dwelt at Damascus, saying, 

3. 내 아버지와 당신의 아버지 사이에 맹약이 있었던 것 같이 나와 당신 사이에도 있느니라. 보라, 내가 당신에게 은과 금을 보내었으니 와서 이스라엘 왕 바아사와 맺은 당신의 맹약을 깨뜨려 그가 나를 떠나게 하라, 하매

[There is] a league between me and thee, as [there was] between my father and thy father: behold, I have sent thee silver and gold; go, break thy league with Baasha king of Israel, that he may depart from me.

4. 벤하닷이 아사 왕의 말에 귀를 기울이고 이스라엘의 도시들을 치려고 자기 군대들의 대장들을 보내니 그들이 이욘과 단과 아벨마임과 납달리의 모든 저장 도시를 치니라.

And Benhadad hearkened unto king Asa, and sent the captains of his armies against the cities of Israel; and they smote Ijon, and Dan, and Abelmaim, and all the store cities of Naphtali. 

5. 바아사가 그것을 듣고 라마를 건축하기를 그만두고 자기의 일을 그치니라.

And it came to pass, when Baasha heard [it], that he left off building of Ramah, and let his work cease.

6. 이에 아사 왕이 온 유다를 취하였고 그들이 바아사가 건축할 때에 쓰던 라마의 돌과 재목을 가져오므로 그가 그것들로 게바와 미스바를 건축하였더라.

Then Asa the king took all Judah; and they carried away the stones of Ramah, and the timber thereof, wherewith Baasha was building; and he built therewith Geba and Mizpah.

7. 그때에 선견자 하나니가 유다 왕 아사에게 나아와 이르되, 왕이 시리아 왕을 의지하고 {주} 왕의 [하나님]을 의지하지 아니하였으므로 시리아 왕의 군대가 왕의 손에서 피하였나이다.

And at that time Hanani the seer came to Asa king of Judah, and said unto him, Because thou hast relied on the king of Syria, and not relied on the LORD thy God, therefore is the host of the king of Syria escaped out of thine hand.

8. 이디오피아 사람들과 룹 사람들이 많은 병거와 기병을 갖춘 큰 군대가 아니었나이까? 그러나 왕이 {주}를 의지하였으므로 그분께서 그들을 왕의 손에 넘겨주셨나이다.

Were not the Ethiopians and the Lubims a huge host, with very many chariots and horsemen? yet, because thou didst rely on the LORD, he delivered them into thine hand. 

9. {주}의 눈은 이리저리 온 땅을 두루 다니며 완전한 마음으로 자신에게 향하는 자들을 위하여 자신의 강하심을 보이시나니 이 일로 왕이 어리석게 행하였은즉 이제부터는 왕에게 전쟁이 있으리이다, 하매

For the eyes of the LORD run to and fro throughout the whole earth, to shew himself strong in the behalf of [them] whose heart [is] perfect toward him. Herein thou hast done foolishly: therefore from henceforth thou shalt have wars. 

10. 그때에 아사가 그 선견자에게 노하여 그를 감옥 집에 가두었더라. 그가 이 일로 인하여 그에게 격노하였더라. 또 그때에 아사가 백성 중에서 몇 사람을 학대하였더라.

Then Asa was wroth with the seer, and put him in a prison house; for [he was] in a rage with him because of this [thing]. And Asa oppressed [some] of the people the same time. 

11. 보라, 아사의 행적은 처음부터 끝까지 유다와 이스라엘의 왕들의 책에 기록되어 있느니라.

And, behold, the acts of Asa, first and last, lo, they [are] written in the book of the kings of Judah and Israel.

12. 아사의 통치 제삼십구년에 그의 발에 병이 있었고 그의 병이 심히 중하였으나 병이 있을 때에 그가 {주}께 구하지 아니하고 의사들에게 구하였더라.

And Asa in the thirty and ninth year of his reign was diseased in his feet, until his disease [was] exceeding [great]: yet in his disease he sought not to the LORD, but to the physicians.

13. 아사가 자기의 통치 제사십일년에 자기 조상들과 함께 잠들어 죽으니

And Asa slept with his fathers, and died in the one and fortieth year of his reign.

14. 그들이 아사가 다윗의 도시에 자기를 위하여 만든 그의 돌무덤에 그를 묻고 또 약제사의 기술로 예비한 향수와 여러 가지 향료를 가득히 채운 상에 그를 두고 또 그를 위하여 크게 향을 태웠더라.

And they buried him in his own sepulchres, which he had made for himself in the city of David, and laid him in the bed which was filled with sweet odours and divers kinds [of spices] prepared by the apothecaries art: and they made a very great burning for him.
