ABC 표현 연습 (DAY 4, JUNE, 2009) INSTRUCTOR KIM SOO
Most people think that because they are on the run that they do not have the time to eat healthy. We tend to grab anything we can find because we are in a hurry and don’t really worry about what we are putting into our bodies. The truth is that it is possible to keep healthy eating habits even as we hustle about on our busy schedules.

Hairloss as a result of chemotherapy is the ultimate insult to injury. Having to undergo chemotherapy while simultaneously dealing with baldness with large donor scars could be a nightmare scenario for women. .
Natural remedies may work for some and not others but I think mind over matter has a lot to do with healing as well. So with the aid of home remedies and positive thinking you just might be cured of what ails you.
If you have a healthy, functioning immune system, your cold should not last more than three or four days. Do not expect miracles or immediate results from natural remedies. In fact, since most of these remedies will assist the body, as opposed to suppressing the symptoms, your symptoms may temporarily worsen.

A lot of radical groups are practicing racism and genocide in the name of a religious belief
STORY 10. ON THE RUN
(OC) Police are searching for a 13-year-old and his mother who are on the run. A court has ordered the 13-year-old boy to undergo chemotherapy for a tumor which doctors say is growing and could kill him without treatment, but his mother wants him treated with natural remedies advocated by a religious group. Here's David Muir.
(VO) Late today, investigators said they've heard nothing from the mother on the run. Colleen Hauser vanished with her 13-year-old son, Daniel, who has Hodgkin's lymphoma.
I just wish, you know, we could get to Colleen and tell her to come in. This is not going to go away. It's a court order.
(VO) A
Give us some time to heal our son and if it does not work, the door is still open on both ends.
(VO) After just one round of chemotherapy, the son told a judge he believed chemotherapy would kill him. The last time the mother and son were seen in public was Monday, at a doctor's appointment, where an x-ray ordered by the court showed the boy's tumor had grown. The husband, who stayed behind, says his wife just got scared that authorities would take custody of her son.
What they're saying is they have the right to decide what to do as far as treatments go. We don't have that right.
But when it's something where you can save the child's life and it's known to work, you don't really have a lot of discretion there. You can't sacrifice your child's life in the name of your religious belief.
(VO) The case comes as another mother in
(VO) Back in this case, on the family farm, the missing boy's father said he doesn't oppose chemotherapy if it's necessary. He thinks doctors use it too much. Authorities say that debate is now over and they're looking for the boy to save his life. David Muir, ABC News,
STORY 11. SERIOUS SETBACK
(OC) Good evening. President Obama has been riding high in public opinion polls and with the Congress, but today, he got a resounding defeat in the Senate on the issue of the Guantanamo Bay Cuba prison. President Obama has said consistently he wants to shut it down by next January, and he asked Congress for the money do so. The Senate today voted to deny him that money, and it also blocked him from transferring any of the
(OC) Good evening, Charlie. Well it was a harsh rebuke, a 90 to 6 vote against President Obama's request for $80 million to shut down the detainee facility. The clear message, you cannot shut this facility until you have a clear plan for what you're going to do with the detainees.
(VO) The language from Democratic leader Harry Reid was even harsher than the lopsided vote.
Democrats under no circumstances will move forward without a comprehensive, responsible plan from the President.
(VO) Nearly 540 detainees at
Would it be all right with them being transferred to an American prison?
Not in the
(VO) Several convicted terrorists are currently in US super max facilities, including shoe bomber Richard Reid, alongside serial killers and drug kingpins.
There is ample evidence that the
(VO) But even FBI Director Robert Mueller today said putting these detainees in US prisons could be dangerous.
There is a potential for radicalization in a number of ways, whether it be for gang activity, for terrorist groups, for other extremists.
(VO) President Obama is considering sending roughly 100 detainees to this Saudi terrorist rehabilitation center. But at least 11 detainees sent there by the Bush administration have returned to terrorism, including al Qaeda leaders in
In my view, these men are exactly where these men belong, locked up and safe in secure prisons.
(OC) ABC News has learned that an internal Pentagon report indicates 14% of the detainees released under President Bush, that's 74 out of 540, returned to terrorism. Now, President Obama hoping to quell this outrage, will give a major address tomorrow on counterterrorism policy. Charlie?
(OC) All right, Jake Tapper at the White House. Thanks to you.
(OC) And we're going to turn to our Chief Washington Correspondent George Stephanopoulos who joins us now. George, did the White House get blindsided by this virtually unanimous opposition to closing
(OC) Well, Charlie, the warning signs were out there. The Senate Republican Leader Mitch McConnell has been on the Senate floor just about every day talking about this. Last week, House Democrats stripped the funding from their spending bill, and there was some rumbling in the Senate as well. But the White House thought as late as last week they could cobble this together. As one Senate Democrat told me today, this is one of the rare instances where they just drove right in front of the headlights.
(OC) But George, what's the problem here? We have, as Jake mentioned and Senator Feinstein said on the Senate floor, we have terrorists in US prisons. So why not the guys from
(OC) Well, Charlie, I think this is one of the ultimate NIMBY issues. You're right on that point. On the other hand, the senators have not yet seen a plan. And you've got the FBI director out there saying he's not sure it's going to be safe, either. Senate sources I've talked to today in the administration believe there is a chance they're going to be able to get the Senate to agree to having some detainees come into prisons later this year, once the plan by the President is released. But there is no way they're going to approve release of any prisoners in the
(OC) When you say it's a NIMBY problem, you mean not in my back yard.
(OC) Not in my back yard. Absolutely there, Charlie.
(OC) No member of Congress wants these guys transferred to prisons in their districts.
(OC) That's right.
(OC) All right, George Stephanopoulos in
STORY 12. PISTOL PACKERS
(OC) Back in this country, as expected, the House followed the Senate today and voted in favor of tight controls on the credit card industry, but interestingly the bill has in it, as Jonathan Karl reports, a major provision that has nothing at all to do with credit cards.
(VO) Credit cards and loaded guns. The two don't exactly go hand-in-hand, unless you're in Congress. The House and Senate have both approved a measure revoking a ban on loaded guns in national parks, and they did it as part of a hugely popular credit card bill of rights. Gun control advocates are furious.
It doesn't make any sense. This is a credit card bill and there's no purpose in a credit card bill to have a gun bill. We talk a lot about pork in this House. I think this is an act of chicken.
(VO) The person behind the move is Senator Tom Coburn.
It's not about guns, it's about states' rights. Being able to determine what is in the best interests of them. And it's about the Second Amendment. And it's not about bureaucrats telling Americans when their rights will be taken away.
(VO) Under current law, you can bring a gun into a national park, but it must be unloaded and packed or stored. This measure allows loaded guns, unless they are banned by state law. That means in places like the
These are not crime-free zones. Crime can happen. Both two-legged predators and four-legged predators in our national parks. This is going to allow lawful people to carry a firearm to defend themselves.
(VO) Among those to vote yes on this were 27 Senate Democrats.
(OC) Is this a sign that the NRA is still a real power around here?
The NRA is a very powerful organization. But even more powerful than the NRA is the Second Amendment.
(VO) Gun control advocates want President Obama to veto the bill.
We know the President is favorable towards sensible gun restrictions. He has been throughout his career. It is time for him to speak out.
(OC) So, will the President veto the bill? No way. Remember, Charlie, this is part of the hugely popular card holder's bill of rights. The White House said today, the President will sign it, proudly.
(OC) All right, Jonathan Karl on Capitol Hill, thanks.
