Don't sleep on your stomach
Since everybody has their own preferred sleeping position -- back, stomach, and sides -- telling people not to sleep on their stomachs can fall on deaf ears.
Such a position has disadvantages over the other ones. It hyperextends the back, causing back pain the next day (especially if one has a big pillow and a soft mattress) and it can deprive you of oxygen (since you likely sleep with your face in the pillow), which will cause headaches the following morning.
Avoid waterbeds and soft mattresses
Sleeping on a limp pancake weakens back muscles and can contort the body in unnatural positions. Today's society loves soft beds that practically engulf every inch of the sleeper's body. Soft mattresses might feel good for a while, but your body will not forgive you in the long run.
Kick the snorer out of the bed
Hey, some women snore... Joking aside, snoring and sleep apnea (interrupted breathing during sleep) can cause serious problems because of improper breathing, and it can drive your woman mad. Some people even wake themselves up due to their snoring, so it can be quite a pickle.
There are numerous devices on the market that claim they can cure snoring, but surgery is the surest way of treating the problem. Unfortunately, this treatment is only recommended for serious snorers. Self-help methods include losing weight, avoiding alcohol and sedatives, regular sleeping patterns, sleeping on your side, and keeping your head tilted.
Where are those sheep?
Don't lose hope, sleeping properly is a peculiar philosophy, but it is invaluable to our well-being. Don't over-analyze; relax, eat the right things and let nature take its course. You'll be prancing around butt-naked from cloud to cloud with Brooke Burke in no time... Now if you'll excuse me, I'm off to bed.
