『Hanky Panky』는 원곡이 1963년 미국의 그룹 사운드

〈The Raindrops〉의 'Jeff Barry' 가 만든 곡으로,

「Tommy James」가 '리메이크'하여 1966년 7월, 2주간 미국

빌 보드 Hot 100 차트 1위에 오르는 빅 히트를 기록 했습니다.

「Tommy James」(1947년생)는 12세의 나이에 Lead Singer로

밴드 활동을 했을 만큼 뛰어난 음악적 자질을 보여주었습니다.

1963년 당시 그의 우상(偶像)이던 기타리스트 'Troy Shondell'의

이름을 본따, 그룹 이름을 《Shondells》로 개명했습니다.

1966년 「Tommy James & The Shondells 」로 발표한 이 곡

『Hanky Panky』가 미국과 캐나다에서 1위를 차지 하면서

본격적인 음악 활동을 시작한 이래 "Mony Mony", "Crimson

& Clover", "Gettin' Together", "I think We're Alone Now",

"Sweet Cherry Wine" 등 수많은 히트곡을 발표했습니다.
