3형식: 주어 + 동사 (완전타동사) + 목적어 + 수식어

하나의 목적어만을 필요로 하는 동사를 완전타동사 라고 하며, 목적어로는 명사(구,절), 대명사, 동명사,부정사 등이 쓰임.

People buy stock when the market is low. (명사)

I know him. (대명사)

자동사로 착각하기 쉬운 타동사

아래 타동사는 단어에 뜻에 얽매이면, 전치사와 함께 쓰기 쉬우나, 전치사를 붙이면 틀림 –전치사 절대 필요X

Resemble ~와 닮다 ,       marry ~와 결혼하다 ,       attend ~에 참석하다

Resemble with (X) , marry with (X), attend to (X)

Reach ~에 도착하다          address ~에게 연설하다   accompany~을 동반하다

Mention ~을 언급하다       leave ~를 떠나다 discuss ~에 대해 토의하다

Enter ~ 에 들어가다          await ~을 기다리다           join ~와 함께하다

Follow   ~을 따르다          survive ~보다 오래 살다   inhabit    ~에 거주하다

Excel ~보다 뛰어나다       approach ~에 접근하다     answer ~에게 답장하다

위와는 반대로 반드시 동사 + 전치사를 함께 써야 하는 동사가 있는 전치사와 함께 통째로 외워야 함

Account for ~ 을 설명하다             add to ~에 더하다             apologize to ~을 사과하다

Agree with(to) ~에 동의하다          arrive at ~에 도착하다       look for ~을 찾다

Go into ~ 에 들어가다                    listen to ~의 말을 듣다     reply to ~에 응답하다

Object to ~에 반대하다                  start from ~을 출발하다    wait for ~을 기다리다

Graduate from ~을 졸업하다          interfere with ~를 방해하다            sympathize with 동정하다

수여동사 (4형식)으로 착각하기 쉬운 완전 타동사

Explain ~을 설명하다        suggest ~을 제의하다      prove ~을 증명하다          confess ~을 고백하다

Announce ~을 알리다       propose~을 제안하다       describe ~을 설명하다     introduce~을 소개하다

아래와 같이 써야 함

1.주어 +동사 + 목적어 + to 목적격

He explained his plan to me  / 틀린 표현 = He explained me his plan (X)

또는 2. 주어 +동사 + to 목적격 + that 절

He suggested to me that I should go there / 틀린 표현= He suggested me that I should go there (X)

타동사 + A (목적어) + 전치사 + B – 이들 동사화 함께 사용하는 전치사에 유의

① 타동사 + A + for + B

blame (criticize, scold) A for B : B 때문에 A를 나무라다 (비난하다,꾸짖다)
  punish (praise, thank) A for B : B 때문에 A를 벌주다 (칭찬하다, 감사하다)
  mistake A for B : A를 B로 착각하다 (잘못 알다)
  name A for B : A를 B로 지명하다
  ex / I often mistake her for her mother.

 ② 타동사 + A + from + B

tell (distinguish, know, discern) A from B : A와 B를 구별하다

keep (prohibit, hinder, prevent, hold, deter, restrain) A from B: A가 B하는 것을 방해하다

ex / I can’t tell him from his brother.

③ 타동사 + A + on (upon) + B

impose A on (upon) B: B에게 A를 부과(강요)하다

confer A on(upon) B: B에게 A를 주다(수여)하다

bestow A on(upon) B: B에게 A를 주다(수여)하다

ex / The judge imposed a fine on her.

④ 타동사 + A + with + B

compare A with B: A를 B와 비교하다

endow A with B: A에게 B를 부여하다 – be endowed with (~을 부여 받다)

confuse A with B: A와 B를 혼동하다

share A with B: B와 A를 공유하다 (함께 하다)

ex / I compare a translation with the original.

    Man is endowed with reason.

⑤ 타동사 + A + to + B

attribute (ascribe, impute, refer ) A to B: A를 B 탓으로 돌리다

ex / He attributed his success to good luck.

 
3형식에는 재귀목적어 (주어 자신이 목적어인 경우로 재귀대명사 사용) 를 취하기도 함 – 숙어처럼 암기

재귀대명사란~ 주어와 같은 사람 또는 사물이 문장 속에서 다시 한번 나오는 경우를 말함

ex / I myself saw Tom. (나 자신이 톰을 보았다) – 이 부분은 나중에 재귀대명사 부분에서

다시 공부하자.

Absent oneself from: ~에 결석하다             apply oneself to: ~에 전념하다

Accustom oneself to: ~에 익숙해지다         avail oneself of: ~을 이용하다

Devote oneself to: ~에 일신을 바치다         exert oneself to: ~을 위해 노력하다

Present oneself at: ~에 출석하다                pride oneself on: ~을 자랑하다

Help oneself to: ~을 마음대로 먹다(쓰다)    enjoy oneself: 유쾌하게 지내다

Express oneself: 표현하다                         dress oneself: 차려 입다

Make oneself at home: 편히 하다               overeat oneself: 과식하다

Make oneself understood: 의사소통하다     overdrink oneself: 과음하다

Ex / She seated herself at her desk.

3 형식에는 동족목적어 (동사와 비슷한 뜻의 명사를 취하여 타동사화 한 경우) 를 취하기도 함

live, die, breathe, smile, dream, sigh, fight

ex / She lived a happy life = She lived happily.

     He died a happy death = He died happily.

     Live a dog life, live a double life, live an idle life, fight a losing battle
