Pastor McDonnell Testifies to Mother Moon
Prayer Dinner - Be a Peacmaker
Robert Abendroth
Last Monday
evening, Subregion 4 hosted yet another prayer dinner with local church ministers
and guests of members totaling 183 participants. Pastor Bill McDonnell of the
Wealthy Place Ministries gave an incredibly powerful keynote address on the
theme, “Be a Peacemaker.”
To start, the
MC for the evening, Rev. Jackson, invited Rev. Wasson of Zion Independent Methodist
Church to give the opening prayer. He prayed that we can come to understand how
to have a deeper peace with God. After that dinner was served.
After dinner,
Rev. Jackson asked the audience to consider the painful heart that God experiences
when He sees his children in conflict. He then invited Ray Cordova of Waters in
the Desert Ministry who recited three prophetic poems that challenge the listener
to seriously work on their relationship with God. After that, the Wealthy Place
Choir Performed two deeply powerful songs. On that foundation, First Lady Faye McDonnell
introduced her husband. Her respect and
admiration for her husband were evident when she introduced him with using lyrics
from the “Impossible Dream” saying he “fought the unbeatable foe and ran where
the brave dare not go.”
Her
description of him was evident in his speech as he was not afraid to speak on
topics that others do not usually speak on. Pastor Bill McDonell began with gratitude
to God, his wife, his church and everyone that is working to put together these
prayer dinners. He spoke about us being peace makers and children of God. He said
“God did not save you to be a democrat or a republican or a libertarian or a
conservative… not Baptist, not Penecostal, not Unificationist. He chose you to
be a peacemaker.” He emphasized that we have to pursue peace like a man would pursue
the girl of his dreams.
He shared
his experience two years ago when he went to Korea to pray for Korean unity
with other ministers. He shared about the fear he had in going there in the
midst of heightened conflict but also about the breakthrough that happened through
their prayers. He praised Father and Mother Moon for the work they do and have
done in bringing people of all faiths and walks of life together to solve the
world’s problems. He said that the experience in Korea was a turning point for
his life because it made him realize that he is not just a Vegas preacher and
peacemaker but an international preacher and peacemaker. He then encouraged everyone
that they are meant to also be international peacemakers. He concluded by
saying that a “real peacemaker is one that forgets about himself” and that “God
wants you to be the greatest peacemaker there is.”
