Nowadays, which soap opera do you usually see?
Soap opera “ 내 이름은 김삼순 ” is becoming a topic of conversation these days.
“ 내 이름은 김삼순 ” causes a 삼순이 syndrome as it is recorded for a high program rating. I wonder why people are crazy over “ 삼순이 ”. So I searched about “ 내 이름은 김삼순 ”, even though I didn't see all until now.

This soap opera is based on original novel.
Maybe, you mostly know the story, but I'll give an outline of the story for people who never watched.
김삼순 is an old maid. She is 30 years old and she is a mill master's third daughter. She really likes making bread and cake, so she became a patisserie. One day, she was known that the person who gave an order for an engagement cake was a her boy friend in the past. She was lost from him. So she put red pepper into cake. Finally, she was dismissed from workplace. Accidently, 진헌 tasted the cake which was made by her and he proposed appling for his restaurant. With this, she works in his restaurant. And they started meeting by contract. Because 삼순 needed fifty millions and 진헌’s mother pressed him for a marriage. So, they met each other for their need. At first they hated each other, but as time goes by they fall in love to each other. This story is an exhilarating romance.

I will tell you about the 4 main characters.
① About 김삼순 → She is not pretty, slender and young. She is sassy and vivid. Even though she was suffered hardships because of her boy friend who betrayed her, she registered with a wedding information company and had blind dates for wedding every weeks. It means she is a passionate and powerful chacracter. After she graduated highschool, she was charmed with a patisserie. So she went France for study and she became an able patisserie. In reality, she is an able single, she is not an incapable old maid.  
② About 진헌 → Three years ago, 진헌’s elder brother and his wife were died by traffic accident as 진헌 drove the car. Also, 진헌 got hurt in left leg seriously. Besides, his girl friend 희진 left him. 진헌 was full of hatred but missed her a lot for three years. 진헌 is a dramatic character with 희진. In soap opera, 김삼순 is an employee but 진헌 is a successful manager of restaurant and he is the second of a great industrial family. He has a professional ability. On the other hand, he is somewhat self-satisfied and unfriendly. Sometimes, main actors gain popularity as they perform funny. Also, 진헌 is not an exception.  
③ About 희진 →  She is beautiful with warm heart. She is intellectual and warm. Her parents are doctor and she is an only daughter. When she was a second grade in highschool, she met 진헌. He was an English private tutor. They loved each other about for six years. When She was a university student, her parents emigrated to America. But she didn't go because of 진헌. She really loves him. Unfortunately, she got stomach cancer. She knew this fact when 진헌 had an accident. She left for America to treat the illness. But she didn't say to 진헌 about her situation. So he was obliged to misunderstand her. Finally, she got a recovery and came back. But, 진헌 is with 삼순. Usually, the supporting actors like 희진 is a villain in soap opera. But 희진 is not the villain. This point is special compare to other soap operas.  
④ About 헨리 → He was the attending physician of 희진 in America. When he was a two years old, he was adopted to America. But he doesn't have any complex about adopting because he grew up in good home surrounding. He doesn't speak Korean well. He is mild and generous. He loves 희진. But he knows that she doesn't love him and she believes and respects him just as a doctor. She tried to recover for 진헌. So 헨리 doesn't expect to her. Just, he is satisfied with taking care of her and showing his love. Even though he loves her, he doesn't restrict her. Even though the person who she loves is 진헌, 헨리 wishes for her happiness heartily.

Now, I will tell you about the keys to popularity.
① 삼순 is like just us.
We can feel familiarity through the 삼순’s character. 삼순 shows us very natural look that we can see around us easily. Existing soap operas are unreal and fictive but “ 내 이름은 김삼순 ” is similar to our real life.
② 삼순 is so imposing and frank.
삼순 really loves her work. It is very attractive. We can see that when she makes cake, she puts her own  philosophy into the cake and she feels happiness of life. People who are living with work that they should do than they want to do are thought about dream in their childhood through 삼순’s looks. Another 삼순’s attractiveness is that 삼순 is not a perfect woman. She is not pretty and slender. But she is imposing to her work and frank to her feeling. These things look beautiful to us who keep on living with false looks more and more.
③ Compact structure of the story.
On the whole, it is a obvious cinderella story and a triangular love affair. But the compact structure that composes inside story capture the attention of TV audiences. Usually main actress is very poor and miserable in soap operas. But they appear as they change their polished clothes everyday and do make-up neatly. On the other hand, 삼순 comes up to us friendly with countrified name and plump appearance. It looks like that we see real man, not entertainer. So we can sympathize easily. Besides, there are no villain and secret in  “ 내 이름은 김삼순 ”. It is a difference with existing soap operas. Each actor shows their own color and their lines are so attractive. Especially, 김선아’s tasty speech is becoming a topic of conversation nowadays.

④ 김선아’s comic acting.
Maybe, almost of you sympathize easily.

Well... how does “ 내 이름은 김삼순 ” end?
In the original book, 진헌 and 희진 meet again but they don't rejoin together because of 헨리. They just remove a misunderstanding for five years and they are friends with each other. In the soap opera, 희진 come back and rejoin with 진헌 again. It is difficulty to 삼순. Everybody doesn't know the end. Anyway I hope they finish their work successfully.

This is a all of my preparation. I just hope that women can make their life beautifully with their own commanding and unique attractiveness.
