그대에게

그대는 나한테

종종 바가지를 긁고

바가지가 심해지면

서로 말다툼도 했지만

내가 끔찍이 여겼던 자식들이

제짝을 찾아 떠나간 후에는

내게 남아 있는 건

오직 그대 뿐임을

뒤늦게서야 깨닫습니다.

자식들은 제 짝을 저리 아끼는데

나는 젊어서 왜 그리 못했을까.

유일한 핑계라면 

먹고 살기 바빠 그랬다는 것일 뿐.

오늘도 혼자 빈 집을 지키며

나의 퇴근을 기다리는 그대,

조용히 다가가 손을 잡아봅니다.

"여보, 오랜 세월 기다리느라

수고 많았어요. 이제서야

내가 그대에게 돌아왔어요."​


​You often nagged at me.

When you carried it too far, we had a quarrel.

However, after our children I'd loved so much

found their own spouse to leave us,

I belatedly realize it's only you who's with me.​

Our children cherish their own spouse so much.

What kept me from doing the same while young?​

The only excuse might be:

Too busy making a living.​

Today as always, you're home alone

waiting for my return from work.​

I quietly approach you to hold your hand.​

"Honey, you took much pain

waiting for me for a long time.

Now belatedly I've come back to you."
