         Roughing The Pastor   목회자 힘들게 하기

            1 Timothy 5:17-25  

[딤전] 5:17	The elders who direct the affairs of the church well are worthy of double honor, especially those whose work is preaching and teaching.
[딤전] 5:18	For the Scripture says, "Do not muzzle the ox while it is treading out the grain," and "The worker deserves his wages."
[딤전] 5:19	Do not entertain an accusation against an elder unless it is brought by two or three witnesses.
[딤전] 5:20	Those who sin are to be rebuked publicly, so that the others may take warning.
[딤전] 5:21	I charge you, in the sight of God and Christ Jesus and the elect angels, to keep these instructions without partiality, and to do nothing out of favoritism.
[딤전] 5:22	Do not be hasty in the laying on of hands, and do not share in the sins of others. Keep yourself pure.
[딤전] 5:23	Stop drinking only water, and use a little wine because of your stomach and your frequent illnesses.
[딤전] 5:24	The sins of some men are obvious, reaching the place of judgment ahead of them; the sins of others trail behind them.
[딤전] 5:25	In the same way, good deeds are obvious, and even those that are not cannot be hidden.

[딤전] 5:17	잘 다스리는 장로들은 배나 존경할 자로 알되 말씀과 가르침에 수고하는 이들에게는 더욱 그리할 것이니라
[딤전] 5:18	성경에 일렀으되 곡식을 밟아 떠는 소의 입에 망을 씌우지 말라 하였고 또 일꾼이 그 삯을 받는 것은 마땅하다 하였느니라
[딤전] 5:19	장로에 대한 고발은 두세 증인이 없으면 받지 말 것이요
[딤전] 5:20	범죄한 자들을 모든 사람 앞에서 꾸짖어 나머지 사람들로 두려워하게 하라
[딤전] 5:21	하나님과 그리스도 예수와 택하심을 받은 천사들 앞에서 내가 엄히 명하노니 너는 편견이 없이 이것들을 지켜 아무 일도 불공평하게 하지 말며
[딤전] 5:22	아무에게나 경솔히 안수하지 말고 다른 사람의 죄에 간섭하지 말며 네 자신을 지켜 정결하게 하라
[딤전] 5:23	이제부터는 물만 마시지 말고 네 위장과 자주 나는 병을 위하여는 포도주를 조금씩 쓰라
[딤전] 5:24	어떤 사람들의 죄는 밝히 드러나 먼저 심판에 나아가고 어떤 사람들의 죄는 그 뒤를 따르나니
[딤전] 5:25	이와 같이 선행도 밝히 드러나고 그렇지 아니한 것도 숨길 수 없느니라

중학교 2학년인 손자의 미식축구 경기를 관전하고 있을 때였습니다.

심판이 반칙을 지적하며 경기를 중단하였습니다.

한 선수가 패스한 후에 공을 지니지 않은 상태에서 태클을 당한 것이 명백했고,

즉각 반칙을 알리는 노란 헝겊이 던져졌습니다. 방송실의 아나운서는 “반칙입니다.

목회자 (pastor)를, 아니 패스한 선수(passer)를 거칠게 대했습니다.”라고 했습니다.

그 말을 듣자마자, 나는 하나님이 오늘 몇몇 교회들에게 동일한 반칙을 지적하실 수도 있겠다는 생각이 들었습니다!

I was at my grandson’s eighth-grade football game

when the referee indicated there was a penalty and stopped play.

Apparently, after the ball was thrown, the boy who passed it was tackled,

prompting a penalty flag.

The announcer from the press box said:

“There is a flag on the field. The penalty is roughing the pastor . . . I mean,

roughing the passer.”

As soon as he said it, I thought to myself,

God could give that penalty to some churches today!

목회자들은 완벽한 사람들이 아닙니다.

만일 우리가 바라는 것이 완벽한 목회자들이라면, 목회자 없는 교회가 보편적인 교회가 될 것입니다. 

하나님은 우리에게 영적 지도자들, 특히 “말씀과 가르침에 수고하는 이들”(딤전 5:17)을

공경하라고 하십니다.

내 견해로는 목회사역은 이 세상에서 가장 어려운 일 중에 하나입니다.

우리는 정교하고 빠르게 변해가는 복잡한 세상에 살고 있습니다.

 “능력이 뛰어난”목회자를 바라는 우리의 기대가 종종 도달 불가능한 높은 기준을 세우게 합니다.

It’s not that pastors are perfect.

If that is what we are looking for, then pastorless churches would be the norm.

It’s that God calls on us to honor those who lead us spiritually, particularly

“those who labor in preaching and teaching” (1 Tim. 5:17 ESV).

In my opinion, pastoring is one of the hardest occupations on the planet.

We live in a sophisticated, fast-paced, and complex world,

and our expectations for “high-performance” pastors often set the bar

at unattainable heights.

자, 이제 초점을 바꾸어 격려의 말과 기도로 목회자를 존중하는, 역량있는 교인이 되도록 합시다.

힘을 주는 편지 한 통과 교회 현관에서의 “고맙습니다”라는 한 마디가

목회자들이 기쁨 속에서 효과적으로 섬기도록 자극을 줄 것입니다.

So, let’s switch the focus and become high-performance church members

who honor our pastors with words of encouragement and prayer.

A supportive note or a “thank you” in the foyer will go a long way

to stimulate pastors to serve with joy and efficiency.

Lord, help us to appreciate The work that others do, The service given from their hearts, Their sacrifice for You. Don’t be rough on your pastor— pass along some encouragement today.

주여, 우리를 도우사 다른 사람들이 한 일에 대해 그들의 진심어린 섬김에 대해 주님을 향한 그들의 희생에 대해 감사하게 하소서 목회자를 힘들게 하지 말고, 오늘 격려의 말을 전하라.
