The Way Of Unification
Chapter 3. Divided Korea And The World
Section 4. The providential meaning of the division of North and South Korea
2. The cause and significance of the division of North and South Korea
The Korean people are well aware that everyone now desires unification. When we think about the reason why North and South Korea were divided, we may think that it was the June 25th Incident, but if we look into the root cause, we will find that it is because the world has passed through a historical course that has prevented it from becoming one today. (48-141)
The reason why North and South were divided is because Christianity and the Reverend could not become one immediately after liberation. This is because Christianity and the nation opposed the Reverend and could not become one. The reason why North and South were divided is because Christianity and the nation on earth could not fulfill their responsibilities. (165-298)
The reason why the Republic of Korea was divided into North and South and the 38th parallel came into existence is because God's retribution of resentment for not being able to follow God's will after liberation. (45-139)
When we look at the history of restoration from the perspective of Korea, if the established churches had followed the lead of this young man who rose up to uphold God's will immediately after liberation, Korea would not have ended up in such a pitiful state. If they had done so, the 38th Parallel would not have been blocked.
And the Soviet Union would have disappeared long ago. Korea began to be pressured after President Truman dismissed General MacArthur in April 1951. If General MacArthur's words had been followed at that time, Korea would have gone to the Soviet-Manchuria border in September of that year and fought.
If that were to happen, Korea would receive all the blessings that Japan receives. It would mean that Korea would become a country where people could survive even if they just sat there and did nothing. However, after many twists and turns, the world has become as complicated as it is today.
From now on, the world situation will be contrasted with our movements. No matter how drastically the world situation changes, it will be contrasted with our movements. You may not know the specific details, but the history of restoration will unfold in this way. (81-231)
Today, when viewed from a world historical perspective, the left and right ideological trends are strangely confronting each other with Korea at the center. Think about Panmunjom. It is a truly interesting noun. There is only one such place in the world.
Have you ever thought about this? Those who are conscious of it should think about it for a moment. Such things do not happen without reason. Panmunjom did not arise as an issue only for our people, but as a result of global ideological trends. (13-45)
Just 30 miles north of here, democracy and the ideas of freedom face off against the most cruel, brutal, closed-off communist clique in the world, led by Kim Il-sung in North Korea.
Of these two divided worlds, one is a world that recognizes God, and the other is the exact opposite, a world that denies God.
The contrast between the two worlds, with their polar opposites and ideological differences, could not be more clearly and conspicuously demonstrated than on the Korean Peninsula. The Korean Peninsula is a miniature version of the whole world, where there is a struggle between freedom and dictatorship, good and evil, democracy and communism. (168-235)
As North and South Korea have been separated, this refers to a division in world history. All the rifts between communism and the democratic world must be resolved with Korea as the center, centering on the 38th parallel. Hellenism and Hebraism, that is, religious history and humanistic ideology, must come together and be resolved as the final destination.
Panmunjom refers to the security line between the two worlds. Generally speaking, if we interpret this line, the democratic world and the communist world are facing each other, but if we interpret it in terms of God's will, it is the heavenly world and the satanic world facing each other. Korea is the only place where democracy and communism are so sharply opposed to each other. (1984.1.15)
The North-South issue in Korea is not simply a struggle between Kim Il-sung and the current government. As you know, various ideologies such as humanism, theocentrism, Hellenism and Hebraism can be seen as having reached their final destination in Korea, and Korea has become the final destination of the confrontation between idealistic and materialistic ideologies.
This is not merely a problem for the Korean people, but a problem for the world as a whole. If we consider it on a higher level, we can see it as the current situation of a confrontation between God, who represents the good gods, and Satan, who represents the evil gods. (March 14, 1986)
