시145:1

양화진에는 140년 전부터 한반도에 오신 선교사들의 묘소가 모여 있습니다. 웨스트민스터 사원보다 양화진에 묻히겠다는 묘비에서도, 심장이 천개 있다면 모두 조선에 바치겠다는 묘비에서도 사랑의 메아리를 듣습니다. 그들이 전하지 않을 수 없었던 복음의 메아리는 무엇일까. 예에공! 찬양은 기도이면서 고백이고 찬양의 대상에 대한 나의 인정이다. 따라서 그것은 그분만 찬양을 받아야 할 이유에 대한 변증이며 저항이다. 그분 외에 다른 찬양의 대상을 인정할 수 없다는 의사표시이기 때문이다.

시145편은 다윗의 시 단락(138-145)에서 여덟 번째이자 마지막 편이다. 타이틀에 붙어있는 ‘다윗의 시’라는 표제는 3편에서 처음 나오고 145편에 마지막으로 등장한다. 하나님은 날마다 높여 찬양 받기에 합당하신 왕이시다. 그래서 지으신 모든 것이 주님을 찬양하지. 주의 영광을 말하고 주의 능력을 선전 한다. 주님 나라의 위엄과 영광을 사람들이 알도록 말이야. 하나님은 은혜롭고 자비하시며 노하기를 더디 하시고 인자하심이 크신 분이거든.

하나님은 넘어지고 비천한 자들의 구원자가 되신다. 생명 없는 모든 자들에게 양식을 공급하시고 그 소원을 만족케 해주신다. 인간의 탐욕이 그 유일한 보급로를 끊었다. 하나님이 내리시는 공평한 복을 가로챘어. 하나님을 삶의 중심에 두는 신본 주의와 하나님의 사랑의 대상인 인간을 사랑하는 것은 동전의 양면이다. 하나님의 복을 빼앗긴 약자들을 향한 우리의 자비와 긍휼이 그 선하신 하나님의 공급을 대신할 것이다.

엘리야를 먹여 살린 까마귀처럼, 하나님은 진실하게 간구하는 자를 가까이 해주신다. 경외하는 자의 소리를 들으시고 자기를 사랑하는 자를 보호해주실 것이다. 물론 악은 다 멸망시키실 것이다. 하나님보다 더 든든한 성이 없고 방패가 없고 피난처가 없음을 믿자. 하나님보다 더 위험한 신은 없고, 하나님 보다 더 안전한 신도 없는데 하나님과 나의 거리가 그것을 결정한다. 나는 어떻게 하나님의 왕권을 높여드릴 것인가? 하나님의 위대하심을 다음 세대에게 어찌 전해야 할까?

Like the crow who fed Elijah, God keeps those who truly seek him close. He will listen to the awe and protect those who love him. Of course, all evil will be destroyed. Let us believe that there is no more reliable castle than God, no shield, no refuge. There is no God more dangerous than God, no more secure God than God, and the distance between God and me determines it. How will I raise God's king power? How should I convey God's greatness to the next generation?
