어떤 사람이 주께 와서 가로되 선생님이여 내가 무슨 선한 일을 하여야 영생을 얻으리이까 예수께서 가라사대 어찌하여 선한 일을 내게 묻느냐 선한이는 오직 한 분이시니라 네가 생명에 들어 가려면 계명들을 지키라 가로되 어느 계명이오니이까 예수께서 가라사대 살인하지 말라, 간음하지 말라, 도적질하지 말라, 거짓증거하지 말라,네 부모를 공경하라, 네 이웃을 네 몸과 같이 사랑하라 하신 것이니라

Now a man came up to Jesus and asked, "Teacher, what good thing must I do to get eternal life?" "Why do you ask me about what is good?" Jesus replied. "There is only One who is good. If you want to enter life, obey the commandments." "Which ones?" the man inquired. Jesus replied, " 'Do not murder, do not commit adultery, do not steal, do not give false testimony, honor your father and mother,' and 'love your neighbor as yourself.'“

어떤 사람이 예수님께 와서 이렇게 질문합니다. 선생님 제가 무슨 선한 일을 해야 영생을 얻습니까? 예수님은 그에게 대답했습니다. 너는 어찌하여 나에게 선한 일을 묻느냐? 선한 이는 오직 하나님뿐이다. 예수님 자신이 창조주 하나님이십니다. 하나님의 말씀이 육신을 입고 세상에 오신 것입니다. 그런데도 왜 예수님께서 이런 식으로 그에게 대답하셨을까요? 그 이유는 그가 아직 예수님을 하나님으로 인식하지 못하고 위대한 선생님으로만 인식하였기 때문이다,

그는 예수님을 하나의 인간으로만 보는 것이다. 그래서 예수님은 그의 생각과 질문에 맞도록 그에게 대답해주신 것입니다.그리고 주님이 계속해 그에게 말씀하셨다.네가 영생에 들어가려면 하나님의 계명들을 지켜라, 살인하지 말라. 간음하지 말라, 도적질하지 말라, 거짓 증거를 하지 말라, 네 부모를 공경하라, 네 이웃을 네 몸처럼 사랑하라.

그 청년이 대답했다, 나는 이 계명들을 어릴 때부터 지키고 있습니다. 그래도 나에게 부족한 부분이 있습니까? 예수님께서 말씀하십니다, 네 소유를 다 팔아 가난한 자들에게 나눠주어라, 그리고 나를 좇으라. 예수님께서 그 청년의 마음을 살피실 때 그는 천국에 들어가기를 소원했지만 율법주의적인 믿음을 가졌다. 율법주의자들은 표면적으로 모든 선한 일을 다 행한다, 그러나 그들의 마음은 완악하고 차가워 하나님과 이웃을 진정으로 사랑하지 못하는 것이다.

천국에 들어가기를 원하는 자들은 자신의 겉모습만 변화시켜서는 안 되고 마음을 변화시켜야 하는 것이다. 우리는 이기적이고 교만한 마음을 변화시켜 겸손해지고, 주님과 이웃을 진정으로 사랑하는 마음으로 변화 되어야 하는 것이다. 그러나 이 땅에서 예수를 믿는 자들은 다 부족함이 있다, 그래서 모든 하나님의 백성들은 항상 회개하면서, 주님의 뜻에 순종하기를 힘써야 하는 것이다. 회개하며 주님의 뜻에 순종하기를 힘쓸 때 주님께서 우리를 긍휼하게 여기십니다. 주님의 긍휼함을 받는 자는 다 용서받고 천국에 들어가는 것이다.

에베소서 2:3-5

긍휼에 풍성하신 하나님이 우리를 사랑하신 그 큰 사랑을 인하여 허물로 죽은 우리를 그리스도와 함께 살리셨고,（너희가 은혜로 구원을 얻은 것이라）

율법과 계명을 완벽하게 지켜서 이간 자신의 의로운 행위로서 구원받을 자는 세상에 없다. 우리가 이웃을 긍휼이 여기며 회개와 순종의 삶을 살 때, 주님께서 우리를 긍휼히 여기시고 우리를 구원하시는 것입니다.

A man came to Jesus and asked, “Teacher, what good deeds must I do to obtain eternal life?”Jesus answered him, “Why do you ask me about good deeds? Only God is good.”Jesus himself is the Creator God. He is the Word of God who came to the world in the flesh. So why did Jesus answer him this way? The reason is that he did not yet recognize Jesus as God, but only as a great teacher.

He only saw Jesus as a human being. So Jesus answered him according to his thoughts and questions. And the Lord continued to speak to him, If you want to enter eternal life, keep the commandments of God: Do not kill, do not commit adultery, do not steal, do not bear false witness, honor your father and mother, and love your neighbor as yourself.

The young man answered, “I have kept these commandments since I was young. Do I still lack something?”Jesus said, “Sell all that you have and give to the poor, and come and follow me.” When Jesus examined the young man’s heart, he wanted to enter heaven, but he had a legalistic faith. On the surface, legalists do all good things, but their hearts are hard and cold and they do not truly love God and their neighbors.

Those who want to enter heaven should not only change their appearance, but also change their hearts. We must change our selfish and arrogant hearts to become humble and truly love the Lord and our neighbors. However, all those who believe in Jesus on this earth have shortcomings, so all God’s people must always repent and strive to obey the Lord’s will.

When we repent and strive to obey the Lord’s will, the Lord will have mercy on us. All who receive the Lord’s mercy will be forgiven and enter heaven.

Ephesians 2:3-5

All of us also lived among them at one time, gratifying the cravings of our sinful nature and following its desires and thoughts. Like the rest, we were by nature objects of wrath. But because of his great love for us, God, who is rich in mercy,made us alive with Christ even when we were dead in transgressions--it is by grace you have been saved.

No one in the world can be saved by their own righteous works, by keeping the law and commandments perfectly. When we show mercy to our neighbors and live a life of repentance and obedience, the Lord shows mercy to us and saves us.
