여호수아 1, 1~9

주님께서 여호수아에게 통수권을 맡기시다      Divine Promise of Assistance

1 1 주님의 종 모세가 죽은 뒤, 주님께서 모세의 시종인 눈의 아들 여호수아에게 말씀하셨다. 

    After Moses, the servant of the LORD, had died, the LORD  said to Moses' aide Joshua, son of Nun: 

2  "나의 종 모세가 죽었다. 그러니 이제 너와 이 모든 백성은 일어나 저 요르단을 건너서, 내가 이스라엘 자손들에게 주는 땅으로 가거라.     Moses my servant is dead. So now, you and the whole people with you, prepare to cross the Jordan to the land that I will give the Israelites.

3  내가 모세에게 이른 대로, 너희 발바닥이 닿는 곳은 다 너희에게 주었다.

    Every place where you set foot I have given you, as I promised Moses.

4  광야에서 레바논을 거쳐 큰 강 유프라테스 강까지, 그리고 히타이트 사람들의 온 땅과 해 지는 쪽 큰 바다까지 모두 너희 영토가 될 것이다.      All the land of the Hittites, from the wilderness and the Lebanon east to the great river Euphrates and west to the Great Sea, will be your territory. 

5  네가 사는 동안 내내 아무도 너에게 맞서지 못할 것이다. 내가 모세와 함께 있어 주었듯이 너와 함께 있어 주며, 너를 떠나지도 버리지도 않겠다. 

    No one can withstand you as long as you live. As I was with Moses, I will be with you: I will not leave you nor forsake you.

6  힘과 용기를 내어라. 내가 이 백성의 조상들에게 주기로 맹세한 땅을 이 백성에게 상속 재산으로 나누어 줄 사람은 바로 너다.

    Be strong and steadfast, so that you may give this people possession of the land I swore to their ancestors that I would give them. 

7  오직 너는 더욱더 힘고 용기를 내어, 나의 종 모세가 너에게 명령한 모든 율법을 명심하여 실천하고, 오른쪽으로도 왼쪽으로도 벗어나서는 안 된다. 그러면 네가 어디를 가든지 성공할 것이다.

    Only be strong and steadfast, being careful to observe the entire law which Moses my servant enjoined on you. Do not swerve from it either to the right or to the left, that you may succeed wherever you go.

8  이 율법서의 말씀이 네 입에서 떠나지 않도록 그것을 밤낮으로 되뇌어, 거기에 쓰인 것을 모두 명심하여 실천해야 한다. 그러면 네 길이 번창하고 네가 성공할 것이다.

    Do not let this book of the law depart from your lips. Recite it by day and by night, that you may carefully observe all that is written in it; then your will attain your goal; then your will succeed.

9  내가 너에게 분명히 명령한다. 힘과 용기를 내어라. 무서워하지도 말고 놀라지도 마라. 네가 어디를 가든지 주 너의 하느님이 너와 함께 있어 주겠다."

    I command you:  be strong and steadfast! Do not fear nor be dismayed, for the LORD, your God, is with you wherever you go.
