더불어민주당 당대표 연임에 도전하고 있는 정청래 더불어민주당 의원이 “조선일보는 민주당 전대에서 손을 떼라”며 불쾌감을 드러냈다.

Jeong Chung-rae, a member of the Democratic Party of Korea who is seeking re-election as party leader, expressed displeasure, saying, “Chosun Ilbo should stay out of the Democratic Party convention.”

정청래 의원은 28일 자신의 페이스북을 통해 “조선일보에 휘둘릴 민주당원은 없다. 조선일보가 전대에 끼어들 틈도 없다. 그러나 조선일보는 끊임없이 이간질하고 정치에 개입하고 있다. 오늘 기사를 보니 또 장난질을 하고 있다”고 주장하며 조선일보 28일자 배성규 정치에디터 칼럼 <'문조털래유 해체 작전' 실패의 조짐> 이미지를 첨부했다.

On the 28th, Representative Jeong Chung-rae wrote on his Facebook, "No Democratic Party member would be swayed by the Chosun Ilbo." There isn’t even room for the Chosun Ilbo to interfere in the convention. However, the Chosun Ilbo is constantly sowing discord and interfering in politics. He claimed, “I saw the article today and it’s playing a prank again,” attaching an image from the Chosun Ilbo’s political editor Bae Seong-gyu’s column dated the 28th, titled <Signs of Failure in the “Operation to Disband Moonjo>>.

조선일보는 해당 칼럼에서 “민주당 전당대회를 앞두고 친명의 가장 큰 과제는 '문조털래유 연대'를 해체하는 것이었다. 해체 작전의 핵심 타깃은 김어준씨였다. 친명은 몇 달 전부터 '포섭 작전'에 들어갔다. 김씨와 가까운 인사들이 '왜 정청래와 손잡느냐'고 설득했다고 한다. 압박도 병행했다. 출처가 불분명한 재산 도피설과 세무 조사설이 돌았다”고 썼다.

In that column, the Chosun Ilbo wrote, “Ahead of the Democratic Party convention, the pro-Lee faction’s biggest task was to dismantle the ‘Moon-Jo-Tteolla-yu Alliance.” The main target of the dismantlement operation was Mr. Kim Eo-jun. The pro-Lee faction began a “co-optation operation” several months ago. It is said that people close to Kim persuaded him by asking, “Why are you teaming up with Jung Cheong-rae?” They also applied pressure. It was written that rumors of asset concealment and a tax investigation circulated due to unclear sources.

조선일보는 “김어준씨는 유튜브에 김민석 전 총리를 출연시켰다. 그가 계엄 당일 국회 담장을 넘어 본회의장으로 달려가는 영상을 '어렵게 구해서' 틀었다. 김어준씨 유튜브에 단골 출연한 유시민씨는 다른 유튜브로 발길을 돌렸다. 하지만 '유시민 폭탄'이 터졌다. 몸을 낮췄던 김어준씨와 정 전 대표도 보완수사권 폐지론으로 반격했다. 당권 장악을 위해 시작된 '문조털래유 해체 작전'은 성패의 기로에 섰다”고 썼다. 이어 “이 대통령에겐 당혹스런 일이다. 친명 패권이 부른 불신과 거부감부터 해소해야 한다”고 썼다.

The Chosun Ilbo said, "Mr. Kim Eo-jun featured former Prime Minister Kim Min-seok on YouTube." They played a video, “obtained with difficulty,” of him crossing the National Assembly fence and running into the plenary hall on the day of martial law. Yoo Si-min, who was a regular guest on Kim’s YouTube channel, turned to another YouTube channel. But the “Yoo Si-min bomb” exploded. Kim Eo-jun and former leader Chung, who had lowered their stance, countered with calls to abolish the supplementary investigation authority. It wrote that the “Moon-jo Tteolla-yu dismantling operation,” which began to seize control of the party leadership, now stands at a crossroads between success and failure. It is a bewildering matter for President Lee. He wrote, “We must first resolve the distrust and resistance caused by the pro-Lee faction’s hegemony.”

정청래 의원은 “2002년 노무현 대통령은 '조선·동아는 민주당 경선에서 손 떼라'고 외쳤다. 2002년 대선 직전 조선일보는 사설을 통해 '정몽준, 노무현을 버렸다'고 노골적으로 대선에 개입했다”며 “민주당원들은 그때의 조선일보 악몽을 기억하고 있다”고 주장했다. 정청래 의원은 “지금까지 조선일보는 일제강점기 일본을 찬양한 친일 신문의 흑역사, 전두환 독재를 찬양했던 과거 행적에 반성 없이 제 버릇 개 못 준다고 그 패악질을 지금도 지속적으로 하고 있다”고 주장했다. 그러면서 “이 방향이든, 저 방향이든 조선일보는 민주당 전대에 영향을 미치려는 어떤 시도도 하지 않기 바란다”고 했다.

Just before the 2002 presidential election, Chosun Ilbo openly interfered in the election through an editorial, claiming, “Jeong Mong-joon abandoned Roh Moo Hyun,” and said, “Democratic Party members remember the nightmare of Chosun Ilbo at that time.” Rep. Jeong claimed, “Up to now, the Chosun Ilbo has continued its misdeeds without remorse, not learning from its own past mistakes of being a pro-Japanese newspaper that praised Japanese colonial era Japan and of praising Chun Doo-hwan’s dictatorship.” He added, “Whether in this direction or that, I hope the Chosun Ilbo will not make any attempt to influence the Democratic Party’s convention, whether in this direction or that.”

앞서 정청래 의원은 지난 27일 유튜브채널 '매불쇼'에 출연해 '언론 인터뷰를 그 어떤 정치인보다 안 한다'는 지적에 “안티조선(운동)을 했다. 조선일보와는 단 한 차례도 인터뷰한 적 없다. 당 대표 기자회견 때도 TV조선이 질문하길래 조선일보와 인터뷰 안 한다고 했다. 생경할 수 있다. 나는 조선일보와 인터뷰하지 않겠다고 했던 약속을 지키는 차원이다. 또 하나, 나는 조선일보를 언론으로 생각하지 않는다. 나는 언론과만 인터뷰한다”고 말했다.

Earlier, on the 27th, lawmaker Jung Chung-rae appeared on the YouTube channel “Maebul Show” and, in response to criticism that he “doesn’t do media interviews as much as any politician,” said, “I was part of the Anti-Chosun movement.” I have never once given an interview to the Chosun Ilbo. Even at the party leader’s press conference, when TV Chosun asked a question, I said I wouldn’t do an interview with the Chosun Ilbo. It may feel unfamiliar. It is in the sense of keeping the promise I made not to do an interview with the Chosun Ilbo. Another thing: I do not consider the Chosun Ilbo to be a legitimate news outlet. I said, “I only do interviews with the media.”

이 같은 정청래 의원 입장에는 사연이 있다. 2008년 총선 당시 문화일보는 정 의원이 '초등학교 교감에게 폭언을 했다'고 집중보도했고, 조선일보가 이를 인용 보도하며 선거 판세에 악영향을 미쳤다. 정청래 의원은 낙선했고, 이후 문화일보와 조선일보가 악의적 보도를 했다며 소송을 제기했다. 검찰은 당시 보도가 '가짜 학부모'의 허위 제보에 의한 것이었다고 발표했다. 그러나 정청래 의원은 6,383표 차이로 낙선한 뒤였고, 마포을에선 강용석 의원이 당선됐다.

There is a story behind Representative Jeong Cheong-rae’s stance. During the 2008 general election, Munhwa Ilbo ran a focused report claiming that Assemblyman Jeong had verbally abused an elementary school vice principal, and Chosun Ilbo cited this report, thereby negatively affecting the election outcome. Lawmaker Chung Cheong-rae lost the election and then filed a lawsuit, claiming that Munhwa Ilbo and Chosun Ilbo made malicious reports. The prosecution announced that the report at the time was based on false tips from a “fake parent.” However, it was after lawmaker Jeong Chung-rae lost by a margin of 6,383 votes, and in Mapo-eul, lawmaker Kang Yong-seok was elected.
