구성 및 활용법
  ꡔEverday English 365ꡕ는 영어학습에서 중요하다고 생각되는 문장들을 학생들이 매일 학습하고 활용할 수 있도록 하기 위하여 일상 생활에서 활용 빈도가 높은 대화체 문장, 문화적인 배경을 이해할 수 있는 관용적인 표현나, 삶의 지혜를 담고 있는 속담 표현, 중‧고등학교 필수 단어 및 숙어가 포함된 표현 등을 주로 선정한 후, 학년별 난이도를 고려하여 정리하였습니다. 학년별로 2명의 교사가 집필하고 상호토의를 거쳐 문장을 선정한 다음 원어민의 교정을 거쳐 확정하였습니다.
  본 자료집은 하루 한 문장(대화)이라도 익힘으로써 유용한 표현들을 분명히 학습하여 일상생활에 적용할 수 있도록 할 목적으로 출간하였습니다. 일선의 영어 선생님 혹은 담임 선생님들이 관심을 갖고 활용에 임하여 주신다면 말하기 능력 향상에 어느 정도의 효과는 볼 수 있으리라 생각됩니다. 각반의 영어부장을 선정하여 매일 한 문장 혹은 대화를 칠판 등에 게시하게 하여 노트에 정리하고 암기하도록 지도합니다. 동시에 제공된 녹음테이프를 이용하여 듣고 따라 할 수도 있습니다. 또한 이 책자 파일이 시교육청 홈페이지 공개자료실이나 광주영어교육 홈페이지 학습지원실(www. ketis.or.kr/~english)에 탑재되어 있으므로 학생들에게 주지하여 개인적으로 다운받아 활용하도록 할 수도 있을 것입니다.
  이런 과제 수행을 정기적인 평가에 의하여 학습 정도를 측정하고 우수학생 및 우수학급을 시상함으로써 학생들의 영어 학습 의욕을 고취시킬 수 있을 것입니다. 또한 학교나 학생들의 실정에 따라 상급학년용이나 하급학년용을 사용할 수도 있을 것이며 순서를 다소 바꿔서 시행해도 상관은 없을 것입니다.
  이러한 노력의 반복은 영어에 대한 중요성을 느끼게 하고 말하기 능력중심의 영어의사소통능력이 특히 강조되고 있는 국제화 시대에 효율적인 영어 지도 교육의 한 방법으로 자리 매김할 것으로 여겨집니다. 아무튼 일선영어 선생님들께서 독창적인 방법으로 본 자료를 활용하여 학생 지도에 조그마한 효과라도 볼 수 있다면 본 자료 제작진은 더 없는 보람으로 여기겠습니다. 감사합니다.

2. I feel a chill. 몸이 으스스해요.
A : What's wrong with you?
B : I caught a bad cold and feel a chill.
A : 너 무슨 일 있니?
B : 독감이 들어서 몸이 으스스 해.

3. Be your own man. 자기 할 일을 스스로 행하라.
A : You don't know what to do all the time.
    Be your own man.
B : Yes, I'll try.
A : 넌 늘 어떻게 해야 할지 몰라.

4. You said it. 그래 너의 말이 맞아.
= That's it. = You can say that again. = Tell me about it.
= You're absolutely right! = That's right.

5. Good Lord!
  어머나! 세상에! 이럴 수가!(상당히 놀란 경우)
= My, oh, my! = Good Heavens!
= Oh, boy!= My goodness!

6. Stand in line, please. 줄을 서세요(종대로).
= Stand one behind another.
 횡대로 서세요.=Stand side by side.
 새치기하지 마세요.=Don't cut (break) in line.

7. Truth never damages a cause that is just.
  진실은 정당한 목적을 결코 해치지 않는다.

8. It's better to be faithful than famous.
  유명한 것보다는 충실한 것이 더 낫다.

= He's a little on edge.
 edgy: 날카로운, 뾰족한, 신경이 예민한, 안절부절 하는
 미치기 일보직전이야.=I'm on the edge.

10.He that's cheated twice by the same man is an accomplice with the cheater.
    같은 사람에게 두 번이나 속는 사람도 속인 사람과 공범자이다.

11. Could you please have a person paged for me?
   방송으로 사람을 찾아 주시겠어요?
A : Will you page Miss Karen for me?
B : Yes, I will.
A : Karen양을 불러 주시겠습니까?
B : 예, 알겠습니다.

12. He's in a love triangle.
    그는 삼각관계에 빠져있다.
= He is torn between two lovers.
  그는 두 연인 사이에서 어쩌지 못하고 있다.

13. We have to cut corners in every respect.
    우리는 모든 면에서 비용을 줄여야 한다.
A : These days life is too hard.
B : You said it.
    Really we have to cut corners in every respect.
A : 요즘 생활이 너무 힘들어.
B : 그래. 정말 모든 면에서 비용을 줄여야 해.

14. He is really driving me nuts.
    그 사람 때문에 미치겠어요.
= He is really driving me crazy.
= He is really driving me up the wall.

15. It's a very hot item.
    그것은 매우 잘 팔리는 상품입니다.
= It's a very popular product. = It sells like crazy.
= It sells like hot cakes. = It goes like hot cakes.

16. I wish you a success.
    당신의 성공을 기원합니다.
= Break a leg! 
= I hope you will succeed. = Good luck!

17. All that glitters is not gold.
    반짝이는 것이 다 금은 아니다.
= Appearances are deceptive.
= Never judge by appearances.

18. Practice makes perfect.
    배우기보다 익혀라.
= All things are difficult before they are easy.
= At first you don't succeed. Try, try, try again.
= Learn to walk before you run.

19.  Let's go for another round somewhere else.
     다른 곳에서 한잔 더 합시다.(2차 갑시다).
= Let's go bar-hopping.
= How about another drink some other place?
 round: (술 등)이 모두에게 돌아가는 일
 바텐더, 한잔 더 쥐요.=Bartender, another round!
 이 번에 나오는 술은 내가 살게.
    =This round is on me.

20. A brave man or fortunate one is able to bear envy.
   용기 있는 사람, 또한 행운의 사람들은 남들로부터 쏟아지는 질투심을 충분히 견뎌낼 수 있는 사람이다.

    Let's give him a big hand.

    “가슴에 십자가를 긋고 죽기를 바란다.” (흔히 아이들이 자신의 말이 사실임을 맹세할 때 사용하는 말)
= I mean it. = I'm serious. = I'm not joking.
= I'm not kidding. 정말입니다(맹세합니다).

27. What a hassle!
    정말 골치 아픈 일이군!
= It's a pain in the neck!
= It's annoying me.

28. I throw in the towel.
    내가졌소(패배를 인정하고 포기할 때).
= I give up. = You've got me.

29. A buddy from my old stomping grounds.
    내가 옛날 발구르던 땅에서 온 친구. 어렸을 때부터의 친한 벗. 竹馬故友.(죽마고우)

30. A clear conscience is a good pillow.
    깨끗한 양심은 잠을 잘 들게 하는 부드러운 베개다.

31. His lecture was cut and dried.
   그의 연설은 틀에 박힌 것이었다.
A : How was his speech ?
B : It was cut and dried.
A : 그의  연설이 어땠어?

   점심 제가 사겠습니다.

  부러지는 것보다 휘는 것이 낫다.

  우리는 천생연분입니다.
= We're destined to be.
= We're the perfect match.

8. You need a pick-me-up. 활력소가 필요합니다.

 활력소 = pick-me-up

  미리 예견한 위험은 반쯤은 피한 것이나 다름없다.

   한꺼번에 너무 많은 일을 벌이지 마라.

 염가 대매출=a bargain sale. 재고정리 판매 = a clearance sale
 위탁판매=a consignment sale 외상판매=a credit sale
 차고세일= a garage sale(가정집에서 이사나 대청소 시에 하는 세일)

4.It is too late to lock the stable when the horse has been stolen.
  소 잃고 외양간 고치기.

5. It is no use crying over spilt milk.
  엎질러진 물은 다시 주어 담지 못한다.
= What's done cannot be undone.
= What's done is done.

  돈으로 안 열리는 문이 없다. 돈만 있으면 만사 해결!(黃金萬能).
= Money talks.
