Jn. 4:24, God is spirit, and his worshipers must worship in the Spirit and in truth.

1. Worship in History

   1. Patriarches: Personal, Altar Centered (From Abraham to Jacob)

   2. Moses: Meeting Tent, Sacrifices, Ceremonies, Seasonal Feasts (After Exodus to David)

   3. Kingdom: Temple Centered (From Solomon to Fall of Jerusalem)

   4. Captive: Synagogue, Community Centered (Babylon Captivity)

   5. Return: New Temple (Zerubbabel the Second Temple, Herod Temple)

   6. New Testament: Christ Emphasized (Phil 2:9-11), Life Style Worship (Rom. 12:1-2) (After Pentecost)

   7. Kingdom: Final Form of Worship (Rev. 4:1-11)

   1. Centered on Message, Baptism, Eucharist

   2. Christ Emphasized (in Truth, No idols)

   3. Vary Elements of Worship in Spirit: Prayer, Praise, Scripture Reading, Encouragement, Laying Hands (for Sick), Other Ceremonies (Matrimonial, Funeral, Birth, etc.)

   4. Everyday Worship (Ac. 2:42, Rom. 12:1-2) & Sunday Worship (Ac. 20:7-12, 1Co. 16:2, Rev. 1:10)

   5. New Canon (New Testament)

10. Private Worship: Worship as of Life Style

      Rom. 12:1-2, Therefore, I urge you, brothers, in view of God's mercy, to offer your bodies as living sacrifices, holy and pleasing to God--this is your spiritual act of worship. 2 Do not conform any longer to The pattern of this world, but be transformed by The renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God's will is--his good, pleasing and perfect will.
