The best time to visit Tajikistan is from June to September. With the weather perfect to go hiking up the mountains, the natural beauty of this location can best be enjoyed during this time. Apart from the mountains, if you wish to explore the cities, then the months from March to May are ideal. The monsoon during this time may cause landslides, and so, visiting the mountains in these months is not advisable. During the winters, the temperatures are very low, and not a very good time to tour the mountains.

While the Pamir mountains may not be very famous, but in spite of its hidden beauty, the Alichur Valley of these mountains attracts a lot of adventure seekers during the summer months. Camps are set, and groups set out for one of the most refreshing mountaineering experiences. On this trek, there are a number of villages that serve as centres for a cultural experience, as well as lakes that are sparkling with pure water. Apart from meandering rivers, lush meadows, and even some patches of barren beauty, there are some memorable sites on this trek that you must stop by at. Ruins of some settlements, and even Chinese tombs can be found here.

Snow-capped mountains all the way, and a skyline that will make any city from all over the world jealous, the Shakhdara Valley is one of the biggest highlights of the Pamir Mountains. The tallest peak amongst these is the Pikarl peak which overlooks the entire land from a height of 6723 meters. There are some homestays here for accommodation, as well as some sites for camping. While it may not be the destination in terms of trekking, it is a valley that you will definitely cross on your excursion here.

3. Peninsula West of Sumantash

A trek that will lead you on to the heavenly shores of the Yashikul Lake is the Peninsula West of Sumantash. It is a stretch of approximately 18 kilometres, which is packed with stunning views, beautiful natural spots, and even some prehistoric sites. Camping along the lakeside is a must if you opt for this trek. Do note that around this area there are many hot water springs. So, if you feel a little chilly, these spots will come your rescue!

4. Pamir valley of Langar

A famous glacial site, the Pamir valley of Langar is a spectacular sight to observe. It is a broad u-shaped valley made out of ice, which is a mesmerising site. A unique sight that you may get to see here is the grazing of the animals. Cute healthy sheep and goats often come here for grazing, as the pastures around this glacier are rich and nutrition. Since the trek is a little long, camping is usually done somewhere halfway along the valley.

5. Chapdarkul Lake

Almost a 14 km trek leads you to the gorgeous lake of Chapdarkul. While people may also extend the trek and camp at the Langar Pass, camping at this lakeside is also an exciting option. As the altitude increases, the air becomes thinner, and this is first noticeable on this route.
Altitude: 4530 m

6. Uchkul

The next destination along this path is Uchkul. Ornate with three most stunning turquoise lakes, this area is one of the favourites among tourists. Lakes, pastures, and animals like yak lazing around grazing, and enjoying the sunshine is an amusing sight to observe. Look afar and the Mount Kulin stands out proudly as one of the most majestic mountains of this range.
Altitude: 4100 m

7. Top Bardara Valley

This is the highest point of the entire trek. The Shtik Lazar Pass marks this point at an impressive height of 4840 metres. It will probably be the most exhausting day of the trip, but also one of the best. Once on top, all the peaks that were thought to be high will now appear below you. You can also view the Tajik Pamirs from here. This point also marks the route of descend, and camping is done at a lower altitude.
