그가 무리와 함께 앞으로 나아가자, 점점 땅이 거칠고 험해지기 시작했다.

잔가지가 부러지는 소리, 땅 밑에서 울리는 묘한 진동이 그들의 귀를 자극했다.

숲이 점점 빽빽해지고, 어둠은 점점 더 깊어졌다.

굴 입구 주변은 이상하게도 주변보다 훨씬 어두웠고, 기이한 냄새가 코를 찔렀다.

“저 굴 안에서 무언가 움직이고 있어.” 그의 눈이 날카롭게 굴을 응시했다.

“함정일 수도 있으니 조심해야 해. 안으로 들어가면 빠져나오기 힘들 수도 있어.”

그는 무거운 숨을 몰아쉬며 굴 앞에 멈춰 섰다.

어둠 속에서 희미하게 들리는 무언가의 숨소리와 저음의 으르렁거림이 등골을 오싹하게 만들었다.

“준비해. 우리가 찾는 답이 저기 안에 있을 거야.”

그렇게 그는 결심한 듯 깊은 굴 속으로 발걸음을 옮겼다

그곳에서부터 수상한 동물이 보였다.

작지만 날렵한 몸집에, 눈빛은 뭔가 주인을 따르는 듯한 신뢰를 담고 있었다.

마침내 도착한 곳은 역시 수상한 굴이었다.

갑자기 한 목소리가 들려왔다.

조심스레 굴 안으로 발걸음을 옮기자, 안에서는 습하고 축축한 냄새가 코를 찔렀다.

그는 주변을 살폈다.

굴 끝에 도착했을 때, 한 병사가 서 있었다.

병사는 지친 듯 말을 건넸다.

“네, 수로를 통해 흘러들어온 것 같습니다. 이곳 테마파크는 물길이 많아서 그런지 곳곳에 물이 흐르고 있습니다.”

그는 굴 입구를 다시 바라보며 말했다.
