Bible Matrix ⑦: Historical & Scientific Views on Daniel and Revelation
Part 2. Revelation
Revelation 3:1~6 - To the Church in Sardis, alive but you are dead, but a few people
Revelation 3:4~5 – (1) Be dressed or clothed in white or white clothes or fine linen
☞ Revelation 3:4 - Yet you have a few people in Sardis who have not soiled their clothes. They will walk with me, dressed in white, for they are worthy. (NIV); Thou hast a few names even in Sardis which have not defiled their garments; and they shall walk with me in white: for they are worthy. (KJV)
3:5 - He who overcomes will, like them, be dressed in white. I will never blot out his name from the book of life, but will acknowledge his name before my Father and his angels. (NIV); He that overcometh, the same shall be clothed in white raiment; and I will not blot out his name out of the book of life, but I will confess his name before my Father, and before his angels. (KJV)
○ As I already explained ‘white’ in detail in <Bible Matrix ⑦_132~134> and <Bible Matrix ⑦ 177>, the definition of 'white clothes or fine linen' appears in <Revelation> 19:8, which is 'fine linen as bright and clean’, and which stands for 'the righteous acts or actions or deeds of saints or holy people’.
☞ Therefore, “those who have not soiled their clothes” in <Revelation 3:4> means “those who have not soiled their actions or deeds”. It also means 'those who have done the righteous acts or actions or deeds’. Therefore, as I mentioned in <Bible Matrix ⑦ 177> and <Bible Matrix ⑦ 210>, 'clothes or linen' are ‘acts’ or 'actions or deeds’.
☞ <Revelation> 19:8 - Fine linen, bright and clean, was given her to wear." (Fine linen stands for the righteous acts of the saints. (NIV); And to her was granted that she should be arrayed in fine linen, clean and white: for the fine linen is the righteousness of saints. (KJV); She has been given the finest of pure white linen to wear." For the fine linen represents the good deeds of God's holy people. (NLT)
○ In <Revelation> 3:4, it says, 'those who have done the righteous acts or actions or deeds are worthy to wear white clothes or white robes'. In other words, 'the righteous wear white clothes, not black clothes’.
○ As you can see <Revelation> 3:4, it says, “dressed in white or clothed in white”, <Revelation> 3:5, it says, “be dressed or clothed in white”, and <Revelation> 19:8, it says, "Fine linen, bright and clean, was given her to wear", they mean 'those who have done the righteous acts or deeds are given white clothes to wear’. Here, the important thing is to wear white clothes.
○ There is another condition to wear 'white clothes’, namely, another worthy to wear white clothes. <Revelation> 7:14, it reads, "they have washed their robes and made them white in the blood of the Lamb", which is the same as “those who wash their robes” in <Revelation> 22:14. Those who repent of their sins such as their evil deeds or actions, and those who are saved by washing them with the blood of Jesus, wear “white robes or clothes” as written in <Revelation> 7:9 and 7:13. Therefore, ‘white clothes‘ at this time are the ‘garments of salvation’ (Isaiah 61:10).
○ The ‘white clothes or white robes or fine linen’ we have looked at above mean (1) ‘the righteous acts or actions or deeds’ and (2) ‘washing away sins and making them white in the blood of Jesus’. In other words, the 'white clothes' are the heavenly clothes and the clothes of Jesus Christ, which are put on us at the moment of salvation. Also, ‘white’ means truth, life, innocence, purity, chastity, nobility, holiness, brightness, brilliance, radiance, justice, righteousness, etc., which means Jesus Christ.
