     6. 삼승(三乘)

     舍利弗      問天      汝於三乘      爲何志求      天      曰以聲聞法      化衆生故      我爲聲聞      以因緣法      化衆生故      我爲辟支佛      以大悲法      化衆生故      我爲大乘

     사리불이 천녀에게 물었다.

“그대는 삼승에서 무엇을 구하는가?”

천녀가 말하였다.

“성문법으로써 중생을 교화하기 때문에 저는 성문이 됩니다. 인연법으로써 중생을 교화하기 때문에 저는 벽지불이 됩니다. 대비법으로써 중생을 교화하기 때문에 저는 대승이 됩니다.

     Shariputra asked the goddess,

“Of the three vehicles, which do you pursue?”

The goddess replied,

“I use the Law of the voice-hearer to convert living beings, and therefore I practice the way of the voice-hearer. I use the Law of causes and conditions to convert living beings, and therefore I practice the way of the pratyekabuddha. I use the Law of great pity to convert living beings, and therefore I practice the Great Vehicle.

Shariputra asked the goddess; 사리불이 천녀에게 물었다

Of the three vehicles; 삼승에서

which do you pursue; 그대는 ~ 무엇을 구하는가

The goddess replied; 천녀가 말하였다

I use the Law of the voice-hearer; 성문법으로써

to convert living beings, and therefore

; 중생을 교화하기 때문에

I practice the way of the voice-hearer; 저는 성문이 됩니다

I use the Law of causes and conditions; 인연법으로써

I practice the way of the pratyekabuddha

; 저는 벽지불이 됩니다

I use the Law of great pity; 대비법으로써

I practice the Great Vehicle; 저는 대승이 됩니다
