(렘50:11-16)
11 "Because you rejoice and are glad, you who pillage my inheritance, because you frolic like a heifer threshing grain and neigh like stallions,  12 your mother will be greatly ashamed; she who gave you birth will be disgraced. She will be the least of the nations--a wilderness, a dry land, a desert.  13 Because of the LORD'S anger she will not be inhabited but will be completely desolate. All who pass Babylon will be horrified and scoff because of all her wounds.  14 "Take up your positions around Babylon, all you who draw the bow. Shoot at her! Spare no arrows, for she has sinned against the LORD.  15 Shout against her on every side! She surrenders, her towers fall, her walls are torn down. Since this is the vengeance of the LORD, take vengeance on her; do to her as she has done to others.  16 Cut off from Babylon the sower, and the reaper with his sickle at harvest. Because of the sword of the oppressor let everyone return to his own people, let everyone flee to his own land.  

바벨론의 멸망
그것 역시 저들이 하나님을 대적한 죄 때문이라 말씀하신다
심지어 15절에는 그렇게 하심이 하나님의 앙갚음(vengeance) 라고까지 표현하심을 본다
그리고 하나님은 이어 
그들이 다른 민족들에게 행한 대로 당하게 하신다는 말씀을 하신다

하나님은 앗수르를 통해서 북이스라엘을 징치 하신다
바벨론을 통해서 남유다를 징치하신다
그리고 기타의 여러 나라를 그렇게 하신다
하지만 그러한 목적이 다하였을 경우
토사구팽(兎死狗烹) ... 막대기로 사용한 부지깽이를 아궁이 불 가운데 던져 넣으시는 섭리를 하신다는 것

하나님은 공의(公義)의 하나님
이행상벌(以行賞罰) 하시는 하나님
그런데 하나님 앞에 서면
언제나 작아지는 나...
늘 그렇지만... 오늘도 역시 하나님의 긍휼을 구하는 또 하루를 시작한다
