Welcome! Devoted Student James
I am honor to
have you in my Monday Euphony Presentation Class. May the year of blue ram
bring you peace, prosperity, happiness, and a good command of English!
Ahead of beginning
my comments, I would like to explain the purpose of this class. It was
expressly designed for checking each person’s presentation manner on the stage.
On Mondays, presenters would convey what they had memorized during a week.
Keeping gestures, pronunciation, stress and chunk between words in check comes to
a quantum leap of your English Presentation Skill. Let me allow check out these
matters.
<Pronunciation>
Please imitate each word by listening to voice record on the following
site.
[D]utiful, [D]rink,
[D]oor
Your way of pronouncing Alphabet ‘D’
sounds like ‘ㄷ’. Actually the sound of ‘D’ is between ‘ㅈ’
and ‘ㄷ’. Please keep you pronunciation in check thoroughly.
Especially in the case of pronouncing ‘Door’, put stress on Alphabet ‘D’
explosively and then it would sound like Enlish.
[Th]rown
The way to
pronounce ‘TH’ is to put your tongue between your teeth and you voicing ‘ㄷ’ sound. You should
keep this in mind speaking not only the word ‘These’, but also ‘This’, ‘Them’, ‘That’,
‘Those’, and so on and so forth.
Bo[r]n
Whenever you pronounce ‘B’, make it sure that
you should build up pressure in your mouth by trying to exhale, keeping your
lips together. After that you need an
explosive action to exhale and voice ‘B’ sound explosively.
‘R’ sound is a bit weak. I would like you to
check this matter again for your better English. Especially ‘R’ sound is so
challenging both to speak and teach. Particularly, the sound of R is achieved
by bringing your tongue up and to the back of the mouth. When the bulk of your
tongue placed on the roof of the mouth between the hard palate and the soft
palate, voice the sound. ‘R!’
If my explanation is hard to understand,
please watch the following seven-minute-ling video clip.

slightly. Let the tip of your tongue touch at the gum of your top teeth. And
pronounce ‘L’
[Q]uickly
Your ‘Q’ sound
is often voiced like Alphabet ‘C’. For having your pronunciation enhance, I
would like you to check your shape of mouth by the time of voicing ‘Q’ sound.
Making your lips round (O-shape) is best way to pronounce ‘Q’ exactly. And its
phonic sound maybe heard like ‘Qwuh’. Listening to pronunciations of ‘Queen,
Equal, and Quality’ would be helpful to understand this.

‘z’ in the word, ‘Crazy’. Triple times more exaggerate

The ending sounds were missed.
<Intonation>
Your overall
intonation was quiet similar to the audio file. Excellent!
<Manner>
You look stable and confident on the stage.
Both of your hands gently placed abdomen, giving a good sense of peace.
<Mission>
You excel at
stressing on words. But speaking with only stress would not be sounded like
English. Attenuating words in sentences is required to address your matter. As I
mentioned that this week’s mission is memorizing a story by only listening,
please zeroing in on it. While doing your homework, you will happen to know how
to attenuate and stress words. For your better English, let us check on your rhythmical
presentation on upcoming Monday.
Being on the
stage would come nervousness. However there would be no need for you to suffer
from nervousness. Whenever you are nervous on the stage, please remember the
following quote.
I am frank to
my human condition.
I am not superior
to anybody, but I am not inferior to anybody
Just I will show
myself the way I am.
‘You are good enough to be a good presenter!’
I want you to
keep attending a Euphony Class before going to your graduate school. What
better way is there to enhance your English in a short time than to attend
Euphony Classes, especially Monday Class? Please be on the stage on upcoming
Mondays. Thank you so much.
